Abstract:TiO2 photoelectrode has attracted considerable attention to develop photoelectrochemical sensors recently due to its good light response, excellent chemical stability and good biocompatibility. But the poor conductivity and high electron-hole recombination loss of TiO2 nanoparticles and nanofilms become serious impediments to their practical applications. In this paper we fabricated a sensitive photoelectrochemical sensor from highly ordered TiO2 nanotube arrays (TiO2-NTAs) that can facilitate separation of the photogenerated electron-hole pairs for their large surface area and direct electron transfer pathway. The anodized TiO2-NTAs are uniformly aligned with 100-120 nm in diameter 6.5 mu m in length. Photoelectrochemical responses indicate that anatase TiO2-NTAs annealed at 450 degrees C exhibit the most significant photocurrent. The annealing temperature of 450 degrees C and applied voltage of 0 V were applied to K2Cr2O7 determination, with a linear range from 0.5 mu M to 72.5 mu M. The results are well consistent with UV-Vis spectrometry and the RSD of 0.26% between the two methods indicates the high reliability of the TiO2-NTAs photoelectrochemical sensor. Moreover, the TiO2-NTAs photoelectrochemical sensor exhibits good selectivity and stability.
