Abstract:•The simulation model was constructed for analyses of the photovoltaic and thermal performances.•The photovoltaic and thermal performances of a PVT collector with water heating are discussed.•The influences of the PVT number, the inlet temperature and mass flow rate of water were analyzed.•The approaches of improving the photovoltaic and thermal performances were concluded.
