Abstract:An efficient approach for the assembly of 6H-benzo[f] cyclopenta[d][ 1,2] thiazepine 5,5-dioxides via a palladium-catalyzed tandem reaction of 2-(2-alkynyl) benzenesulfonamide with 2-alkynylvinyl bromide is reported. This transformation proceeds smoothly through a double carbopalladation with high efficiency.

Abstract:A novel palladium-catalyzed domino reaction of 1-bromo-2-(cyclopropylidenemethyl)benzene and 2-alkynylbenzenamine is reported, which generates 2-(naphthalen-2-yl)benzenamines and 5H-indeno[1,2-c]quinolines via 6-endo and 5-exo cyclization, respectively. The regioselectivity for the final outcome can be affected by phosphine and N-heterocyclic carbene ligands.

Abstract:The core of benzo[f][1,2]thiazonin-5(4H)-one 3,3-dioxide is efficiently assembled through a palladium-catalyzed tandem reaction of 2-alkynylbenzenesulfonamides with 2-(2-bromobenzylidene)cyclobutanones. A range of polycycles with a nine-membered sultam ring are generated in moderate to good yields. During the transformation, three new bonds are formed via a tandem process with the construction of a nine-membered sultam ring. Double carbometallation is believed to be involved with the ring-opening of cyclobutanone.

Abstract:A novel and efficient route for rapid access to indeno[1,2-c]azepin-3(2H)-ones is described, which proceeds through a palladium-catalyzed tandem reaction of 2-alkynylhalobenzene with 2-alkynylbenzamide in the presence of PPh(3) or PCy(3). Abstract:A catalytic asymmetric brominative dearomatization reaction of benzofuran derivatives was achieved by using hydroquinidine 1,4-phthalazinediyl diether [(DHQ)2PHAL] as the catalyst and N-bromoacetamide (NBAc) as the brominating reagent. A series of brominated spiro[benzofuran-2,5'-oxazoles] bearing two contiguous stereogenic centers were obtained in high yields (up to 99%) with excellent enantioselectivity (up to 97% ee).

Abstract:An efficient approach for the generation of benzo[b] naphtho[2,3-d]-oxocin-6-ones through a palladium-catalyzed tandem reaction of 2-alkynylphenol with 2-(2-bromobenzylidene)cyclobutanone is described. This tandem process afforded the fused polycycles easily, with the formation of three bonds with high efficiency, starting from easily available materials. Good functional group tolerance as well as excellent selectivity was displayed.

Abstract:A highly efficient palladium-catalyzed domino coupling reaction of ortho-iodoaryl allene with sodium sulfonates under mild conditions is described. This novel method provides a practical protocol to access diverse indole- and benzofuran-containing sulfones by simultaneous construction of C(sp2)-C(sp2) bond and a C(sp3)-S bonds in one pot. The salient features of this transformation include simple operations, broad substrate scope, and good functional group tolerance.

Abstract:An efficient double allene protocol for the formation of benzazocines has been developed. The reaction constitutes a highly regioselective palladium-catalyzed formal [6+2] annulation of allenyl benzoxazinanones with terminal allenes forming the challenging 8-membered cycles. Decent yields and excellent regioselectivity have been observed under mild conditions with a remarkable Z-stereoselectivity for the exo-cyclic C=C bonds. The synthetic potentials of benzazocine products have been demonstrated.
