Abstract:In this paper, a nonperiodic discrete nonlinear equation with Jacobi operators is considered. By using the critical point theory, we establish some new sufficient conditions on the existence and multiplicity of homoclinic solutions. Recent results are generalized and significantly improved. Abstract:By means of Schauder fixed point theorem and Banach contraction principle, we investigate the existence and uniqueness of Lipschitz solutions of the equation . Moreover, we get that the solution depends continuously on . As a corollary, we investigate the existence and uniqueness of Lipschitz solutions of the series-like iterative equation with a general boundary restriction, where is a given Lipschitz function, and are compact convex subsets of with nonempty interior.

Abstract:We obtain a new existence theorem for classical solutions to nonautonomous equations with nonlocal initial conditionsu′(t)=A(t)u(t)+f(t,u(t)),t∈(s,T],u(s)+g(u)=u0,in a Banach space X, where T>s⩾0, f,g are given X-valued functions, and A(t) is a sectorial operator (not necessarily densely defined) in X for each t∈[0,T]. Both Banach's contraction principle and Schauder's fixed point theorem, as well as the theory of evolution families and interpolation spaces, are employed in our approach. A concrete example is shown to illustrate the existence theorem.

Abstract:Cauchy matrix approach for the discrete Ablowitz-Kaup-Newell-Segur equations is reconsidered, where two `proper' discrete Ablowitz-Kaup-Newell-Segur equations and two `unproper' discrete Ablowitz-Kaup-Newell-Segur equations are derived. The `proper' equations admit local reduction, while the `unproper' equations admit nonlocal reduction. By imposing the local and nonlocal complex reductions on the obtained discrete Ablowitz-Kaup-Newell-Segur equations, two local and nonlocal discrete complex modified Korteweg-de Vries equations are constructed. For the obtained local and nonlocal discrete complex modified Korteweg-de Vries equations, soliton solutions and Jordan-block solutions are presented by solving the determining equation set. The dynamical behaviors of 1-soliton solution are analyzed and illustrated. Continuum limits of the resulting local and nonlocal discrete complex modified Korteweg-de Vries equations are discussed.

Abstract:This paper deals with a functional equation and inequality arising in dynamic programming of multistage decision processes. Using several fixed-point theorems due to Krasnoselskii, Boyd–Wong and Liu, we prove the existence and/or uniqueness and iterative approximations of solutions, bounded solutions and bounded continuous solutions for the functional equation in two Banach spaces and a complete metric space, respectively. Utilizing the monotone iterative method, we establish the existence and iterative approximations of solutions and nonpositive solutions for the functional inequality in a complete metric space. Six examples which dwell upon the importance of our results are also included.

Abstract:In this paper we study the entire solutions of a class of periodic Allen-Cahn equations (0.1) -Delta u(x, y) + a(x)W' (u(x, y)) = 0, (x, y) is an element of R-2, where a(x): R -> R+ is a periodic, positive function and W is an element of C-2(R, R) is a double-well potential. We look for the entire solutions of the above equation with asymptotic conditions u(x, y) -> sigma +/- as x -> +/-infinity uniformly with respect to y E R. Via variational methods we find infinitely many solutions.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the local and semilocal convergence of an iterative method for solving nonlinear systems of equations. We first establish the conditions under which these methods converge locally to the solution. Then, we extend our analysis to examine the semilocal convergence of these methods, considering their behavior when starting from initial guesses that are not necessarily close to the solution. Iterative approaches for solving nonlinear systems of equations must take into account the radius of convergence, computable upper error bounds, and the uniqueness of solutions. These points have not been addressed in earlier studies. Moreover, we provide numerical examples to demonstrate the theoretical findings and compare the performance of these methods under different circumstances. Finally, we conclude that our examination offers a significant understanding of the convergence characteristics of previous iterative techniques for solving nonlinear equation systems.

Abstract:Variable-coefficient nonlinear evolution equations offer us with more real aspects in the inhomogeneities of media and non-uniformities of boundaries than their constant coefficients in some real-world problems. A $(3+1)$-dimensional variable coefficient Date–Jimbo–Kashiwara–Miwa (vcDJKM) equation and a $(3+1)$-dimensional variable coefficient Boiti–Leon–Manna–Pempinelli (vcBLMP) equation are studied based on the homoclinic test method and construction of abundant solutions for two kinds of equations are obtained with the help of symbolic computation. In order to study the interaction superposition solutions with different functions, an existence theorem and corollary about superposition solutions of the $(3+1)$-dimensional vcBLMP equation are proved. Via three-dimensional profiles with the help of mathematics, the propagation and the dynamical behavior of these solutions are analyzed by choosing different arbitrary variable coefficients. Compare with the published studied, some completely new results are presented in this paper.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the existence of smooth local solutions to Weingarten equations and $\sigma_k$-equations. We will prove that, for $2 \leq k \leq n$, the Weingarten equations and the $\sigma_k$-equations always have smooth local solutions regardless of the sign of the functions in the right-hand side of the equations. We will demonstrate that the associate linearized equations are uniformly elliptic if we choose the initial approximate solutions appropriately.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce and study a new system of variational inclusions with (A, η, m)-accretive operators which contains variational inequalities, variational inclusions, systems of variational inequalities and systems of variational inclusions in the literature as special cases. By using the resolvent technique for the (A, η, m)-accretive operators, we prove the existence and uniqueness of solution and the convergence of a new multi-step iterative algorithm for this system of variational inclusions in real q-uniformly smooth Banach spaces. The results in this paper unifies, extends and improves some known results in the literature.

Abstract:This paper investigates a class of nonlinear elliptic equations on a fractal domain. We establish a strong Sobolev-type inequality which leads to the existence of multiple non-trivial solutions of Δu +c(x)u =f(x,u), with zero Dirichlet boundary conditions on the Sierpiski gasket. Our existence results do not require any growth conditions off(x, t) in t, in contrast to the classical theory of elliptic equations on smooth domains.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with iterative solutions to a class of complex matrix equations. By applying the hierarchical identification principle, an iterative algorithm is constructed to solve this class of complex matrix equations. The range of the convergence factor is given to guarantee that the proposed algorithm is convergent for arbitrary initial matrix by applying a real representation of a complex matrix as a tool. By using some properties of the real representation, a sufficient convergence condition that is easier to compute is also given by original coefficient matrices. Two numerical examples are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

Abstract:In this paper we deal with an equation in nonlinear combination of iterates. Although it can be reduced by the logarithm conjugacy to a form for application of Schauder's or Banach's fixed point theorems, a difficulty called Zero Problem is encountered for continuous solutions because the domain does not contain $0$. So we consider solutions with weaker regularity, using the Knaster-Tarski fixed point theorem for complete lattices to give order-preserving solutions. Then we give semi-continuous solutions and integrable solutions.
