Abstract:Objective: To improve the accuracy of diagnosis of acute pulmonary embolism through observing the pulmonary hypertension changes in radiology. Methods: The imaging appearances were retrospectively studied in 26 cases of acute pulmonary embolism, who underwent CT angiography (CTA) and were finally diagnosed clinically. Results: Among 10 cases underwent chest X-ray examination, 7 cases had pulmonary vascular texture changes, 4 cases showed infiltrates in pulmonary, 6 cases had atelectasis, and 3 cases had fibrous stripes. All 10 cases were found bulging pulmonary artery segment, widened pulmonary artery trunk, and right ventricular enlargement. In the CT scanning photos of 11cases, uneven density infiltrates on peripheral pulmonary, fibrous stripes, and atelectasis were found in 6 cases. Central pulmonary artery dilatation and hypertrophy of right ventricle were showed in all 11 cases. Pleural effusion and local pleural thickening were found in 3 cases. While CTA showed 17 cases had lesions in pulmonary artery trunk while the other 9 cases were in the branches. The right atrium was significantly enlarged in 6 cases, right ventricular enlargement was found in 11 cases, and pulmonary artery enlargement was found in 18 cases. Conclusion: Early detection of imaging changes of pulmonary hypertension is helpful to improve the diagnostic accuracy of acute pulmonary embolism.
