Abstract:In this paper, we study Cartan-Eilenberg Gorenstein flat complexes. We show that over coherent rings a Cartan-Eilenberg Gorenstein flat complex can be gotten by a so-called complete Cartan-Eilenberg flat resolution. We argue that over a coherent ring every complex has a Cartan-Eilenberg Gorenstein flat cover.

Abstract:Let R be a ring such that all flat R -modules have finite strongly FP-injective dimension. We obtain that the class of all Gorenstein projective modules forms a left-hand class of complete and hereditary cotosion pair. As applications, we prove that the same behavior holds for the class of all weak Gorenstein flat modules. We also obtain a characterization of global Gorenstein flat-cotorsion dimension of rings in terms of weak Gorenstein flat modules.

Abstract:Journal of Algebra and Its Applications, Ahead of Print. Let [math] be a trivial extension of a ring [math] by an [math]-[math]-bimodule [math]. Sufficient and necessary conditions are established for Gorenstein flat-cotorsion modules over [math]. More precisely, it is proved that under some assumptions [math] is a Gorenstein flat-cotorsion left [math]-module if and only if Coker[math] is a Gorenstein flat-cotorsion left [math]-module and the sequence [math] is exact. As applications, it is characterized Gorenstein flat-cotorsion modules over Morita rings with zero bimodule homomorphisms.

Abstract:We prove that, for any $n \geq 2$, the classes of $\rm{FP}_{n}$-injective modules and of $\rm{FP}_n$-flat modules are both covering and preenveloping over any ring $R$. This includes the case of $\rm{FP}_{\infty}$-injective and $\rm{FP}_{\infty}$-flat modules (i.e. absolutely clean and, respectively, level modules). Then we consider a generalization of the class of (strongly) Gorenstein flat modules - the (strongly) Gorenstein AC-flat modules (cycles of exact complexes of flat modules that remain exact when tensored with any absolutely clean module). We prove that some of the properties of Gorenstein flat modules extend to the class of Gorenstein AC-flat modules; for example we show that this class is precovering over any ring $R$. We also show that (as in the case of Gorenstein flat modules) every Gorenstein AC-flat module is a direct summand of a strongly Gorenstein AC-flat module. When $R$ is such that the class of Gorenstein AC-flat modules is closed under extensions, the converse is also true. We also prove that if the class of Gorenstein AC-flat modules is closed under extensions, then this class of modules is covering.

Abstract:AbstractIn this paper, strongly Gorenstein flat modules are introduced and investigated. An R-module M is called strongly Gorenstein flat if there is an exact sequence ⋯→P1→P0→P0→P1→⋯ of projective R-modules with M=ker (P0→P1) such that Hom(−,F) leaves the sequence exact whenever F is a flat R-module. Several well-known classes of rings are characterized in terms of strongly Gorenstein flat modules. Some examples are given to show that strongly Gorenstein flat modules over coherent rings lie strictly between projective modules and Gorenstein flat modules. The strongly Gorenstein flat dimension and the existence of strongly Gorenstein flat precovers and pre-envelopes are also studied.

Abstract:Let be a class of left R-modules, be a class of right R-modules. In this article, we introduce and study Gorenstein -flat modules as a common generalization of some known modules such as Gorenstein flat modules, Gorenstein n-flat modules, Gorenstein -flat modules, Gorenstein AC-flat modules, omega-Gorenstein flat modules and so on. We show that the class of all Gorenstein -flat modules have a strong stability. In particular, when is a perfect (symmetric) duality pair, we construct a hereditary abelian model structure on R-Mod whose cofibrant objects are exactly the Gorenstein -flat modules. Finally, we investigate when the class of Gorenstein -flat modules is closed under extensions. These results unify the corresponding results of the aforementioned modules.

Abstract:We introduce a refinement of the Gorenstein flat dimension for complexes over an associative ring—the Gorenstein flat-cotorsion dimension—and prove that it, unlike the Gorenstein flat dimension, behaves as one expects of a homological dimension without extra assumptions on the ring. Crucially, we show that it coincides with the Gorenstein flat dimension for complexes where the latter is finite, and for complexes over right coherent rings—the setting where the Gorenstein flat dimension is known to behave as expected.

Abstract:In this paper we show that if the class B of R-modules is closed under well ordered direct limits, then the class B is preenveloping in the category of R-modules if and only if the class dwB is preenveloping in the category of R-complexes, where dwB denotes the class of all complexes with all components in B. As an immediate consequence, we get that over commutative and Noetherian rings with dualizing complexes every complex admits a Gorenstein flat preenvelope.

Abstract:We prove that the class of Gorenstein injective modules, $\mathcal{GI}$, is special precovering if and only if it is covering if and only if it is closed under direct limits. This adds to the list of examples that support Enochs' conjecture:\\ "Every covering class of modules is closed under direct limits".\\ We also give a characterization of the rings for which $\mathcal{GI}$ is covering: the class of Gorenstein injective left $R$-modules is covering if and only if $R$ is left noetherian, and such that character modules of Gorenstein injective left $R$ modules are Gorenstein flat.

Abstract:Let R be a right coherent ring and D b ( R -Mod) the bounded derived category of left R -modules. Denote by D^b( R - Mod)_[ GF,C] the subcategory of D b ( R -Mod) consisting of all complexes with both finite Gorenstein flat dimension and cotorsion dimension and K b ( F ∩ C ) the bounded homotopy category of flat cotorsion left R-modules. We prove that the quotient triangulated category D^b( R - Mod)_[ GF,C] / K b ( F ∩ C ) is triangle-equivalent to the stable category GF ∩ C of the Frobenius category of all Gorenstein flat and cotorsion left R-modules.
