An Adaptive Feedback Vibration Control Algorithm

Abstract:An adaptive feedback vibration control algorithm was studied to analyze the basic concept of reference signal generator.The defect of the reference signal generator was derived.Modification of the generator was implemented to suppress the fluctuation of reference signal amplitude induced by additive noise.With the modified reference signal generator,the modified algorithm was proposed.Finally,simulations and experiment based on an active vibration system were performed.Simulation results demonstrate that the modified algorithm has a better convergence and yields less means squared error at steady state,and that the modified algorithm has a better anti-noise stability.Experiment results confirm that the modified algorithm can effectively suppress the vibration of multi-spectra with the existence of frequency error between the primary signal and the reference signal.

Abstract:For the design of active vibration controller,the measurement of the traditional algorithm are velocity and displacement.It brings errors because velocity and displacement is difficult to be measured.So this paper proposed state-derivative feedback equation in which measurement is acceleration based on state space equation.The feedback gain matrix and state-derivative estimator can be determined by Lagrange multiplier method and functional minimization method.State-derivative feedback algorithm of closed-loop control system is formed.According to this algorithm,vibration control of a annular space truss with diameter of one meter is analyzed,and effect of vibration control is evaluated by modal parameter identification of time domain.The control effect on LQR algorithm and state-derivative feedback algorithm is compared by a three layers of shear frame structure.The results show that effectiveness on vibration control is apparent and the algorithm of state-derivative feedback control can apply to active vibration control on spatial structure.And also,state-derivative feedback algorithm is superior over LQR algorithm.

Abstract:This system uses air springs and rubber layer as passive vibration isolation elements and giant magnetostrictive actuators as active vibration isolation elements. Actuators and air springs are arranged in parallel. The air springs and the rubber layer of the passive system are synthesized so as to minimize the root-mean-square values of amplitude of the micro-manufacturing platform and the discrete time LQG controller based on a state space model is employed for controlling actuators. Simulation studies show that the developed active vibration control system has good isolation performance against the floor disturbance over wide frequency area. For random or white noise excitation, the amplitude of micro-manufacturing platform is reduced to approximately 15% by the active control system.

Abstract:This article considers a dynamic modeling and computational optimal control for vibration suppression of a new high-speed macro-micro integrated system, which is mainly consisted of a macrostage and a pair of flexible microbeams (FMs). In this article, we model the FM motion by a partial differential equation (PDE) system and model the dynamics of the macro-micro integrated system based on the Hamilton's principle. Then, a computational optimal control problem for the vibration suppression of the FM is proposed. To solve this optimal control problem, we first use the assumed mode method to obtain an ordinary differential equation model based on the original microbeam PDE system. Some theoretical analysis is given to try to avoid spillover instability based on the assumed model using infinitely many modes and characteristics of a microbeam. Then, we apply the control parametrization approach to approximate the trajectory of the macrostage motion by piecewise-quintic functions and derive the gradient of the objective function with respect to the decision variables. Finally, we conclude this article with numerical simulations and experimental results to validate the effectiveness of the proposed dynamic model and computational optimization approach.

Abstract:Two inerter-based passive vibration control configurations, i.e., a mass connected to a parallel combination of a spring and a damper in series with a spring and an inerter (Case I), and a traditional dynamic vibration absorber in series with an inerter (Case II), are proposed and are successfully applied to achieve the vibration suppression of beam-type structure. The frequency response functions of system displacement and acceleration are analytically derived through the classical vibration theory. The optimization problem of minimizing the maximum value of the frequency response function in the whole range or a certain range of frequency is expressed as a min-max problem and then the optimal parameters are derived numerically. Especially, for Case II the optimal system parameters can be analytically expressed by using the fixed-point theory. Numerical results show that the inerter-based passive vibration control configurations are more efficient than the traditional dynamic vibration absorber, especially for case with a small mass ratio. The inerter-based Case I is more efficient than the inerter-based Case II for a smaller mass ratio while contrary is true for a larger mass ratio. Also, the influences of the mass ratio and the inertance-to-mass ratio on the optimal system parameters are briefly discussed.

Abstract:In this paper, a bionic structure model of ultra-precision vibration isolation system is presented by imitating the special organic texture of woodpecker's brain. The vibration isolation system mainly consists of giant magnetostrictive actuators, air-springs, a pedestal and a rubber layer. The air-springs are used to reduce high frequency vibrations, and the giant magnetostrictive actuators are used to reduce low or ultra-low frequency vibrations. In order to reduce thermal distortion caused by temperature rise of coil, a constant temperature cooling system is developed for giant magnetostrictive actuator. In consideration of complex vibration environment and self-nonlinearity of vibration isolation system, a two dimensional fuzzy active control system with two regulation factors is designed. The experiment results show that the bionic vibration isolation system has good performance against floor disturbances. It can be applied to the vibration isolation system of the ultra-precision measuring and manufacturing devices.

Abstract:In this paper the active vibration control for a miniature Stirling cryocooler is studied. A new kind of vibration attenuation project is designed, in which only one motor is used to push the mass balancer and restrain the vibration. A self-optimization arithmetic based on feedforward control is studied and realized by the DSP(digital signal processor). The vibration amplitude of the Stirling cryocooler is damped to one tenth of the original amplitude, after the vibration control is used.

Abstract:An active electromagnetic vibration absorber is designed,which is used as the actuator in active low-frequency vibration control.The corresponding control law based on LMS adaptive filtering algorithm is also proposed,it is easy to realize and compute.An active vibration control system is constructed by using digital signal processor.Finally the experiment results are given in details,which validate the effectiveness of the system and the approach in active vibration control.

Abstract:In view of the limitations of the feedforward adaptive control method for active vibration isolation system,a method based on iterative feedback tuning is proposed.This method takes the mean square value of residual force as target function,and designs the controller order based on system model and actual demand.The trust region method is used for the controller parameters adjustment.Finally,a fixed lower order controller is obtained.The low order controllers can reduce costs and the design calculation,which is convenient for the real-time control algorithm to come true.Taken the active vibration isolation system based on magnetostrictive actuator as the research object,the algorithm is simulated by the Matlab and compared with the Normal FXLMS algorithm.The results show that the low order controllers based on the IFT methods have better vibration isolation effect than the Normal FXLMS algorithm.And the methods hare good practicability and extensibility.

Abstract:Vibration suppression in servo systems is significant in high-precision motion control. This paper describes a vibration-suppression method based on input shaping and adaptive model-following control. First, a zero vibration input shaper is used to suppress the vibration caused by an elastic load to obtain an ideal position output. Then, a configuration that combines input shaping with model-following control is developed to suppress the vibration caused by changes of system parameters. Finally, analyzing the percentage residual vibration reveals that it is effective to employ the sum of squared position error as a criterion. Additionally, a golden-section search is used to adjust the parameters of a compensator in an online fashion to adapt to the changes in the vibration frequency. A comparison with other input shaper methods shows the effectiveness and superiority of the developed method.

Abstract:Active vibration control has been introduced and used as one of the effective approaches to suppress unwanted vibrations in different systems. Effective performance of each vibration control method is contingent to accurate design and proper dynamics selection of the control unit. These methods have been extensively studied in various studies in recent years. Each of these new methods are designed by a specific dynamics for a specific system. Here in this paper, we aim to introduce some of these recent approaches in a brief discussion, and familiarize the readers with these techniques. Engineers who wish to design proper vibration controllers in different scales, from micro- to macro applications, will certainly design a more successful vibration controller if they know better about similar techniques, and they can implement the novelties that other scholars have utilized.

Abstract:Journal of Low Frequency Noise, Vibration and Active Control, Ahead of Print. An active micro-vibration isolation system for adaptive vibration suppression using piezoelectric stack actuators is presented, along with the discrete time modelling method, real-time adaptive controller design, and hardware implementation. The system comprises piezoelectric stack actuators, capacitive displacement sensors, power amplifiers, signal conditioners, and a real-time computer. A discrete asymmetric Bouc-Wen model is developed to characterize the nonlinear behavior of the piezoelectric stack actuators. System identification is conducted using an improved particle swarm optimization method, specifically the Hybrid PSO-Jaya algorithm, which sequentially integrates the PSO algorithm with the Jaya algorithm. Additionally, an improved adaptive filtering algorithm employing affine projection, referred to as the FXAPA algorithm, is introduced to facilitate real-time control. The efficacy of the proposed active micro-vibration isolation technology is validated through micro-vibration suppression tests.

Abstract:In order to control automatically an adaptive-active tuned vibration absorber based on magnetorheological elastomers,an algorithm of combining mutative step-size optimization and feedback control was implemented,a controller based on TMS320F2812DSP was designed.Using this control system,the vibration attenuation performance was experimentally investigated on a multi-mode experimental platform.The experimental results showed that the controller can control the absorber independently and efficiently within 15 seconds.

Abstract:Active structural vibration control can effectively suppress the vibration caused by external excitation of a structure. Therefore, this element has been an essential part of new building designs and has become increasingly important in modern society. Many different methods of structural vibration control have been proposed and utilized, yet almost all these methods are based on wired control. However, this scheme is impractical for large-scale structures. In this paper, a new wireless control scheme is proposed to overcome the disadvantage of wired control. Two pairs of wireless units are used to transmit and receive the sensor signal and the control signal, respectively. A dSPACE platform serves as the central control part to meet the basic requirements of real-time control. An optimal algorithm based on the Kalman observer is designed and applied to compute real-time control force. The simulation and experiment results demonstrate that this scheme has a good control effect and is a promising method for controlling structural vibration.

Abstract:In order to control a mechanical adaptive tuned vibration absorber(MATVA) automatically,a controller based on a main processor of TMS320F2812 and a driver based on L298N were designed,an algorithm of mutative step-size optimization was used to develop a LabVIEW human-machine interface.Using this control system,the absorber vibration attenuation performances were experimentally investigated on a multi-modal experimental platform.The experimental results showed that the absorber can be controlled independently and efficiently with the control system,and the control process is real-time observable.

Abstract:An adaptive controller for active vibration isolation is proposed on the basis of the filtered-x least-mean-squares method and enhanced with an anti-saturation scheme. In this method, vibration responses induced by a multi-tonal disturbance are decomposed into harmonic components with in-parallel tracking filters and attenuated independently. The centre frequencies of the tracking filters are adjusted by the recursively estimated frequencies of signal components. The anti-saturation scheme is derived on the basis of the normalized least-mean-squares algorithm, which is adopted to prevent excessive adaptation of weights in the presence of strong disturbances. Simulation and experiment on an active vibration isolation system consisting of a cylindrical shell and four actuators are conducted to examine the performance of the given adaptive control algorithm. Results have demonstrated that the adaptive method is effective in vibration isolation as well as saturation suppression, and the performance of active vibration isolation is related closely to structural vibration modes when control channels in multi-channel active isolation are strongly coupled.

Abstract:Impulsive noise is an important challenge for the engineering implementation of active vibration control systems. It can generates larger amplitude outputs of the adaptive filter which are prohibited in practical active vibration control system and destroys the updated stability of the algorithm. An improved filtered-x least mean square algorithm is proposed for impulsive noise in this paper. The proposed algorithm process the reference signal with a new approach which uses a finite impulse response filter. The outputs of the adaptive filter with large amplitudes will be limited through this approach. In order to improve the updated stability, the updating formula of the filter coefficients in the proposed algorithm is derived from a kind of minimization criterion that minimizes the summation of each squared Euclidean norm of difference between the currently updated coefficient vectors and past coefficient vectors. The effectiveness of the improved filter-x least mean square algorithm is proved through simulations comparing with some existing algorithms.
