Abstract:Objective To study the prevalence of hypertension and risk factors in Shunyi District of Beijing and provide scientific evidences for the prevention of hypertension.Methods With the application of Probability-Proportional-to-Size Sampling (PPS Sampling),3839 permanent residents who were from 18 to 79 years old in Shunyi District were includ-ed in our study to conduct questionnaire survey,physical measurement and laboratory examination.Chi-square test and Lo-gistic regression analysis were adopted to analyze the risk factors related to hypertension.Results The prevalence of hyper-tension among permanent residents who were from 18 to 79 years old in Shunyi District was 36.4%.The prevalence rate a-mong male permanent residents was 42.30% which was higher than the rate of 31.68% among female permanent residents, and there was statistically significant difference (P <0.01 ).The prevalence of hypertension increased with the growth of age,and that among permanent residents over 50 years old reached more than 50%.According to the results of logistic re-gression analysis,gender,age,dyslipidemia,overweight and obesity (including abdominal obesity),familial history of hypertension and alcohol were all the risk factors of hypertension.The total awareness rate,treatment rate and control rate of hypertension in Shunyi District were 62.83%,53.25% and 21.73%,respectively.The three rates of female residents were higher than those of male residents with statistical significance (P <0.01).With the growth of age,the awareness rate, treatment rate and control rate of hypertension were increased significantly.As to patients with confirmed hypertension,the treatment rate and control rate were 84.95% and 40.81% respectively,and the rates of female patients were higher than those of male patients with statistical significance.The older the patients with confirmed hypertension were,the higher the treatment rate and control rate of hypertension were,and there was statistically significant difference.Conclusion The prevalence of hypertension among permanent residents from 18 to 79 years old in Shunyi District is high and the situation of blood pressure control is still unsatisfactory.Therefore,some integrated intervention measures should be taken to make pro-gress in controlling the main risk factors and improving the awareness rate,treatment rate and control rate of hypertension.
