Abstract:We provide a support theorem for the law of the solution to an SDE with jump noise. This theorem applies to general SDEs with jumps and is illustrated by examples of SDEs with quite degenerate jump noises where the theorem leads to an informative description of the support.

Abstract:This paper considers the expected value (for short, EV) formulation for a class of stochastic vector linear variational inequalities (for short, SVLVI). We first discuss the existence of solutions to both the original problem and its perturbed problem. Then, under suitable probability metrics, we derive the quantitative stability of SVLVI. Finally, we study the discrete approximation problem, and obtain the rates of convergence of optimal solution sets under different assumptions.

Abstract:The goal of this article is to investigate a class of stochastic tensor variational inequalities (denoted by STVI), which is a generalization of the stochastic linear variational inequalities (denoted by SLVI) and a subclass of stochastic variational inequalities (denoted by SVI). The quantitative stability of the expected residual minimization (ERM) problem for the STVI is analysed. Firstly, the existence of solutions of the ERM problem and its perturbed problem are considered. Then, the quantitative stability of the ERM problem is derived under suitable probability metrics. Finally, under some suitable assumptions, the rates of convergence of the sample average approximation (SAA) method for the optimal solution sets of the perturbed problems are discussed.

Abstract:In the paper, we are concerned with degenerate stochastic differential equations with jumps. Firstly, we establish two support theorems for the solutions of the degenerate stochastic equations, under different (sufficient) conditions. Secondly, we apply one of our support theorems to a class of degenerate stochastic evolution equations (i.e., infinite-dimensional stochastic differential equations) with jumps to get a characterisation of path-independence for the densities of their Girsanov transformations.

Abstract:This paper focuses on solving a stochastic variational inequality (SVI) problem under relaxed smoothness assumption for a class of structured non-monotone operators. The SVI problem has attracted significant interest in the machine learning community due to its immediate application to adversarial training and multi-agent reinforcement learning. In many such applications, the resulting operators do not satisfy the smoothness assumption. To address this issue, we focus on the generalized smoothness assumption and consider two well-known stochastic methods with clipping, namely, projection and Korpelevich. For these clipped methods, we provide the first almost-sure convergence results without making any assumptions on the boundedness of either the stochastic operator or the stochastic samples. Furthermore, we provide the first in-expectation convergence rate results for these methods under a relaxed smoothness assumption.

Abstract:In this paper we work with parabolic SPDEs of the form $$ \partial_t u(t,x)=\partial_x^2 u(t,x)+g(t,x,u)+\sigma(t,x,u)\dot{W}(t,x) $$ with Neumann boundary conditions, where $x\in[0,1]$, $\dot{W}(t,x)$ is the space-time white noise on $(t,x)\in[0,\infty)\times [0,1]$, $g$ is uniformly bounded, and the solution $u\in\mathbb{R}$ is real valued. The diffusion coefficient $\sigma$ is assumed to be uniformly elliptic but only Hölder continuous in $u$. Previously, support theorems for SPDEs have only been established assuming that $\sigma$ is Lipschitz continuous in $u$. We obtain new support theorems and small ball probabilities in this $\sigma$ Hölder continuous case via the recently established sharp two sided estimates of stochastic integrals.

Abstract:We investigate the strict positivity and the compact support property of solutions to the one-dimensional nonlinear stochastic heat equation: $$\partial_t u(t,x) = \frac{1}{2}\partial^2_x u(t,x) + \sigma(u(t,x))\dot{W}(t,x), \quad (t,x)\in \mathbf{R}_+\times\mathbf{R},$$ with nonnegative and compactly supported initial data $u_0$, where $\dot{W}$ is the space-time white noise and $\sigma:\mathbf{R} \to \mathbf{R} $ is a continuous function with $\sigma(0)=0$. We prove that (i) if $v/ \sigma(v)$ is sufficiently large near $v=0$, then the solution $u(t,\cdot)$ is strictly positive for all $t>0$, and (ii) if $v/\sigma(v)$ is sufficiently small near $v= 0$, then the solution $u(t,\cdot)$ has compact support for all $t>0$. These findings extend previous results concerning the strict positivity and the compact support property, which were analyzed only for the case $\sigma(u)\approx u^\gamma$ for $\gamma>0$. Additionally, we establish the uniqueness of a solution and the weak comparison principle in case (i).

Abstract:In this paper, we establish the Stroock-Varadhan type support theorems for stochastic differential equations (SDEs) under Lyapunov conditions, which significantly improve the existing results in the literature where the coefficients of the SDEs are required to be globally Lipschitz and of linear growth. Our conditions are very mild to include many important models, e.g. Threshold Ornstein-Ulenbeck process, Stochastic SIR model, Stochastic Lotka-Volterra systems, Stochastic Duffing-van der Pol oscillator model, which have polynomial the coefficients. To obtain the support theorem, we prove a new Wong-Zakai approximation problem, which is of independent interest.

Abstract:In this paper, we present a novel stochastic method for solving variational inequalities (VI) in the context of Markovian noise. By leveraging Extragradient technique, we can productively solve VI optimization problems characterized by Markovian dynamics. We demonstrate the efficacy of proposed method through rigorous theoretical analysis, proving convergence under quite mild assumptions of $L$-Lipschitzness, strong monotonicity of the operator and boundness of the noise only at the optimum. In order to gain further insight into the nature of Markov processes, we conduct the experiments to investigate the impact of the mixing time parameter on the convergence of the algorithm.

Abstract:This paper considers a class of two-stage stochastic linear variational inequality problems whose first stage problems are stochastic linear box-constrained variational inequality problems and second stage problems are stochastic linear complementary problems having a unique solution. We first give conditions for the existence of solutions to both the original problem and its perturbed problems. Next we derive quantitative stability assertions of this two-stage stochastic problem under total variation metrics via the corresponding residual function. Moreover, we study the discrete approximation problem. The convergence and the exponential rate of convergence of optimal solution sets are obtained under moderate assumptions respectively. Finally, through solving a non-cooperative game in which each player’s problem is a parameterized two-stage stochastic program, we numerically illustrate our theoretical results.

Applying Picard successively iterative technique and the projection method, we derive the unique existence of solutions to SFDVIGS possessing Lévy jumps under certain mild assumptions.

Abstract:Given a stochastic differential equation with path-dependent coefficients driven by a multidimensional Wiener process, we show that the support of the law of the solution is given by the image of the Cameron-Martin space under the flow of mild solutions to a system of path-dependent ordinary differential equations. Our result extends the Stroock-Varadhan support theorem for diffusion processes to the case of stochastic differential equations with path-dependent coefficients. The proof is based on functional Ito calculus.

Abstract:In this paper, we study a very general stochastic variational inequality(SVI) having jumps, random coefficients, delay, and path dependence, in infinite dimensions. Well-posedness in terms of the existence and uniqueness of a solution is established, and a stochastic averaging principle on strong convergence of a time-explosion SVI to an averaged equation is obtained, both under non-Lipschitz conditions. We illustrate our results on general but concrete examples of finite dimension and infinite dimension respectively, which cover large classes of particle systems with electro-static repulsion, nonlinear stochastic partial differential equations with jumps, semilinear stochastic partial differential equations (especially stochastic reaction-diffusion equations) with delays, and others.

Abstract:In this paper, a general system of nonlinear variational inequality problem in Banach spaces was considered, which includes some existing problems as special cases. For solving this nonlinear variational inequality problem, we construct two methods which were inspired and motivated by Korpelevich’s extragradient method. Abstract:The main goal of this paper is to investigate the multi-parameter stability result for a stochastic fractional differential variational inequality with Lévy jump (SFDVI with Lévy jump) under some mild conditions. We verify that Mosco convergence of the perturbed set implies point convergence of the projection onto the Hilbert space consisting of special stochastic processes whose range is the perturbed set. Moreover, by using the projection method and some inequality techniques, we establish a strong convergence result for the solution of SFDVI with Lévy jump when the mappings and constraint set are both perturbed. Finally, we apply the stability results to the spatial price equilibrium problem and the multi-agent optimization problem in stochastic environments.
