Comparison and analysis of the bone mineral density in different chronic gastrosis

Abstract:Objective To compare the bone mineral density(BMD) and osteoporosis incidence in patients with chronic superficial gastritis,antral gastric ulcer and postgastrectomy patients.Methods 88 patients(diagnosed as chronic superficial gastritis and antral gastric ulcer by electronic gastroscope and pathological examination,postgastrectomy pateitns) were examined for the bone area,bone mineral content and BMD in lumbar vertebra,neck,troch,intertroch and ward triangle part in femur by HologicQDR4500A DEXA machine to determine the levels of serum calcium,phosphorus and ALP.Results The incidence of osteoporosis in mild chronic superficial gastritis group,moderate-to-severe chronic superficial gastritis group,antral gastric ulcer group and postgastrectomy group was 16.0%, 36.4%,32.0%,62.5% respectively.The comparison of BMD in different parts(L1～4,neck,troch,inter and ward's) among the four groups showed,from highest to lowest,as following: mild chronic superficial gastritis group,antral gastric ulcer group,moderate-to-severe chronic superficial gastritis group and postgastrectomy group(P<0.01).After matching with age,BMI was positively related with BMD in all parts.Linear correlation analysis indicated that age was negatively related with BMD.Conclusions The incidences of osteoporosis and BMD in different chronic gastritis are different.
