Abstract:Reduction of attributes is one of the important topics in the research of rough set theory.In this paper,the concept of fuzzy random information system is introduced,where object can take fuzzy random variable as its attribute value.Furthermore,dependent-expectation relation is defined.Based on dependent-expectation relation the problem of attribute reduction and judgment in fuzzy random information system are studied.Finally,by an example,calculation steps of appropriate method is showed.

Abstract:Rough set theory can effectively deal with incomplete data which is imprecise or inconsistent.It can analyze the data to dig implicit information and reveal the potential law.In rough set theory,attribute reduction is an important research subject.The widespread presence of the incomplete information system limit the application of classical rough set theory.Introduces a new entropy based on the rough fuzzy metrics.On this basis,an attribute reduction algorithm based on rough fuzzy degree for incomplete information systems is proposed.The simulation experiment illustrates the effectiveness of algorithm and a better time for superiority.

Abstract:Fuzzy rough set is a generalization of crisp rough set to deal with data sets with real value attributes. A primary use of fuzzy rough set theory is to perform attribute reduction for decision systems with numerical conditional attribute values and crisp (symbolic) decision attributes. In this paper we define inconsistent fuzzy decision system and their reductions, and develop discernibility matrix-based algorithms to find reducts. Finally, two heuristic algorithms are developed and comparison study is provided with the existing algorithms of attribute reduction with fuzzy rough sets. The proposed method in this paper can deal with decision systems with numerical conditional attribute values and fuzzy decision attributes rather than crisp ones. Experimental results imply that our algorithm of attribute reduction with general fuzzy rough sets is feasible and valid.

Abstract:In T茂戮驴fuzzy rough sets a fuzzy T茂戮驴similarity relation is employed to describe the similar degree between two objects and to construct lower and upper approximations for arbitrary fuzzy sets. The existing researches on T茂戮驴fuzzy rough sets mainly concentrate on constructive and axiomatic approaches of lower and upper approximation operators. In this paper we define attribute reduction based on T茂戮驴fuzzy rough sets. The structure of proposed attribute reduction is investigated in detail by the approach of discernibility matrix. At last an example is proposed to illustrate our idea in this paper.

Abstract:In this paper, first we proposed a method of attribute reduction based on rough set under fuzzy equivalent relation. We computed the similarity of cases with the fuzzy equivalent relation, reduced the attributes by the same fuzzy equivalent partitions based on rough set, and then gave a method of computing the weights of the attributes. Comparing with the traditional method of attribute reduction based on rough set, more information of the primary data is held, and more accuracy of the attribute reduction is enhanced by our method.

Abstract:The fuzzy rough set is one of the most effective methods for dealing with the fuzziness and uncertainty of data. However, in most cases this model only considers the information provided by the lower approximation of a decision when it is used to attribute reduction. In a realistic environment, the uncertainty of information is related to lower approximation as well as upper approximation. In this study, we construct four kinds of uncertainty measures by combining fuzzy rough approximations with the concept of self-information. These uncertainty measures can be employed to evaluate the classification ability of attribute subsets. The relationships between these measures are discussed in detail. It is proven that the fourth measure, called relative decision self-information, is better for attribute reduction than the other measures because it considers both the lower and upper approximations of a fuzzy decision. The proposed measures are generalizations of classical measures based on fuzzy rough sets. Finally, we have designed a greedy algorithm for attribute reduction. We validate the effectiveness of the proposed method by comparing the experimental results for efficiency and accuracy with those of three other algorithms using fundamental data.

Abstract:This paper presented a novel approach, based on an integrated use of fuzzy and rough set theories, to greatly reduce data redundancy. The information framework in rough set theory is introduced in fuzzy-rough set. Mutual information-based algorithm for attribute reduction in fuzzy rough set is introduced and illustrated with a simple example. Experimental result shows that it is an effective technique.

Abstract:In rough set theory, attributes importance measure is a crucial factor in applications of attribute reduction and feature selection. Many importance measure methodologies for discrete-valued information system or decision table have been developed. However, there are only limited studies on importance measurement for numerical-valued information system. In this paper, knowledge change-based importance measure, with the structural characteristics of fuzzy measure, is introduced to evaluate the importance of attributes in covering decision table. We first present the concept of similarity block in attribute space, based on which coverings are induced to construct the lower and upper approximation operators in covering-based rough sets. In particular, the traditional importance measure is extended to deal with covering decision table. Further, an evaluation model based on the knowledge change-based importance measure is constructed. Experiments are conducted on the public data sets from UCI, and a case study on the students’ overall evaluation is given finally. Theoretical analysis and experimental results show that the proposed importance measure is effective for evaluating the importance of attributes in covering decision table.

Abstract:Fuzzy rough set model is a powerful tool for handling attribute reduction tasks for complex data. While the fuzzy rough set model commonly employs fuzzy information entropy to measure attribute uncertainty, utilizing fuzzy conditional information entropy for measuring attribute relationships presents a drawback due to its lack of monotonicity, impacting attribute reduction results. Furthermore, entropy computations involve numerous logarithmic function computations, resulting in a significant computational burden. Moreover, the results obtained from logarithmic functions are unbounded. To address these problems, this paper presents the concept of Fuzzy Implication Granularity Information (FIGI) for measuring attribute information. Additionally, we introduce several related generalizations, such as fuzzy conditional implication granularity information, fuzzy mutual implication granularity information, and fuzzy joint implication granularity information, aiming to measure the relationships between attributes. Notably, the introduced fuzzy conditional implication granularity information to measure the relationship between attributes demonstrates the desirable property of monotonicity. Crucially, all the metrics proposed in this paper are bounded, ensuring that computed values within the range of 0 to 1. Finally, we propose a forward greedy attribute reduction algorithm based on the monotonic fuzzy conditional implication granularity information (MFIGI), and the performance of our MFIGI algorithm was compared against six different attribute reduction algorithms using three classifiers across 15 different datasets, the experimental results demonstrate the excellence of our MFIGI algorithm.

Abstract:The key problem for attribute reduction to information systems is how to evaluate the importance of an attribute. The algorithms are challenged by the variety of data forms in information system. Based on rough sets theory we present a new approach to attribute reduction for incomplete information systems and fuzzy valued information systems. In order to evaluate the importance of an attribute effectively, a novel algorithm with rigorous theorem is proposed. Experiments show the effect of proposed algorithm.

Abstract:Fuzzy entropy and fuzziness are both important measurement methods of rough set uncertain measure. According to the formula of fuzzy entropy and new fuzziness of rough set uncertain measure, this paper proposes the concepts of revisionary conditional information entropy and relative fuzzy entropy in the decision information system, and proves the monotonicity of entropy by using two methods respectively in the process of attribute reduction. Then, this paper uses the algorithm of adding attributes for attribute reduction, and tests the recognition rate in RIDAS (rough set based intelligent data analysis system) platform. Finally, this paper compares and analyzes the experimental results between the two proposed information entropy and conditional information entropy, and provides a reference for the attribute reduction based on information entropy.

Abstract:The concept of a consistent approximation representation space is introduced. Many types of information systems can be treated and unified as consistent approximation representation spaces. At the same time, under the framework of this space, the judgment theorem for determining consistent attribute set is established, from which we can obtain the approach to attribute reductions in information systems. Abstract:Fuzzy rough set theory is an important method for data mining of uncertain data. This paper presents a theoretical foundation for the reduction of fuzzy information system. A general formula is given for the approximation operators of fuzzy sets using the triangular norm and its conorm. Then the upper definable sets and lower definable sets are defined and shown to form a complete distributive lattice. These relationships were used to define a fuzzy information system and its reduction and to study its relation with a crisp information system and its reduction, as a theoretical foundation for the reduction of fuzzy information systems. The results well facilitate the analysis of fuzzy sets and rough sets for improving data mining. 

Abstract:Data usually exists with hybrid formats in real-world applications, and a unified data reduction for hybrid data is desirable. In this paper a unified information measure is proposed to computing discernibility power of a crisp equivalence relation and a fuzzy one, which is the key concept in classical rough set model and fuzzy rough set model. Based on the information measure, a general definition of significance of nominal, numeric and fuzzy attributes is presented. We redefine the independence of hybrid attribute subset, reduct, and relative reduct. Then two greedy reduction algorithms for unsupervised and supervised data dimensionality reduction based on the proposed information measure are constructed. Experiments show the reducts found by the proposed algorithms get a better performance compared with traditional rough set approaches.

Abstract:Attribute reduction of an information system with real value attributes is one of the research hot spots in rough set theory.Instead of an equivalence relation with discretization of real values,a kind of similarity relation and its adaptive form based on fuzzy c-means clustering are proposed.A rough set model based on the similarity relation is presented which has good performance in dealing with noisy data.A kind of importance degree derives from the defined positive region and nonpositive one,the attribute reduction of an information system is performed.Comparative experiments with existing method show that the proposed method is effective,stable and reasonable.

Abstract:The fuzzy-rough set based attribute reduction, which can get better reducts than the crisp rough set approach, has been paid more attention recently. Fuzzification is a step of data preprocess which was studied less in the application of fuzzy-rough set. In this paper, a simple fuzzification method deriving fuzzy discretization from K most important cuts in the application of feature selection is proposed. A comparative experiment between the proposed fuzzification method and a general fuzzy c-means based method is constructed on the UCI machine learning data repository. The experimental results show the obtained reducts using the proposed method can get higher classification accuracies and less number of selected attributes.
