Abstract:In this paper, we import interval method to the iteration for computing Moore-Penrose inverse of the full row (or column) rank matrix. Through modifying the classical Newton iteration by interval method, we can get better numerical results. The convergence of the interval iteration is proven. We also give some numerical examples to compare interval iteration with classical Newton iteration.

Abstract:In this paper, we present explicit expressions for the Moore-Penrose inverse of the perturbation matrix under the rank condition in the real field. Then we estimate the error between Moore-Penrose inverse and dual Moore-Penrose generalized inverse (DMPGI) and obtain an upper bound of the error. Furthermore, we discuss the above results under several special conditions.

Abstract:We extend Rump’s verified method (S.Oishi, K.Tanabe, T.Ogita, S.M.Rump (2007)) for computing the inverse of extremely ill-conditioned square matrices to computing the Moore-Penrose inverse of extremely ill-conditioned rectangular matrices with full column (row) rank. We establish the convergence of our numerical verified method for computing the Moore-Penrose inverse. We also discuss the rank-deficient case and test some ill-conditioned examples. We provide our Matlab codes for computing the Moore-Penrose inverse.

Abstract:In this paper, we define the Moore-Penrose inverse of tensors with the Einstein product, and the explicit formulas of the Moore-Penrose inverse of some block tensors are obtained. The general solutions of some multilinear systems are given and we also give the minimum-norm least-square solution of some multilinear systems using the Moore-Penrose inverse of tensors.

As applications of the formulas obtained, the author constructs and classifies some groups of matrix equalities involving the above nested operations, and derives necessary and sufficient conditions for them to hold.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with constructions and characterizations of matrix equalities that involve mixed products of Moore–Penrose inverses and group inverses of two matrices. We first construct a mixed reverse-order law ( A ⁢ B ) † = B ∗ ⁢ ( A ∗ ⁢ A ⁢ B ⁢ B ∗ ) # ⁢ A ∗ , and show that this matrix equality always holds through the use of a special matrix rank equality and some matrix range operations, where A and B are two matrices of appropriate sizes, ( ⋅ ) ∗ , ( ⋅ ) † and ( ⋅ ) # mean the conjugate transpose, the Moore–Penrose inverse, and the group inverse of a matrix, respectively. We then give a diverse range of variation forms of this equality, and derive necessary and sufficient conditions for them to hold. Especially, we show an interesting fact that the two reverse-order laws ( A ⁢ B ) † = B † ⁢ A † and ( A ∗ ⁢ A ⁢ B ⁢ B ∗ ) # = ( B ⁢ B ∗ ) # ⁢ ( A ∗ ⁢ A ) # are equivalent.

Abstract:The paper aims to play an expository role, providing a tailored introduction to the theory of matrix generalized inverses determined by the so-called Penrose equations, with the Moore--Penrose inverse as the jewel in the crown. The tailoring is made taking into account applicability of the inverses to solvability of a system of linear equations, which covers, inter alia, the least squares method. The method is introduced in a formal, though compendious way, with an intention to support researchers who want to consciously utilize it in their investigations. Additionally, the paper points out various links between the generalized inverses and theory of projectors, indicating issues which are relevant from the perspective of physics. The article can be viewed as a sequel of [O.M. Baksalary and G. Trenkler, ``The Moore--Penrose inverse -- a hundred years on a frontline of physics research,'' Eur. Phys. J. H {\bf 46}, 9 (2021)], the paper prepared to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first definition of the Moore--Penrose inverse, which shades a spotlight on the role the inverse plays in physics.

Abstract:Moore–Penrose inverse emerges in statistics, neural networks, machine learning, applied physics, numerical analysis, tensor computations, solving systems of linear equations and in many other disciplines. Especially after the 2000s, the topic of Moore–Penrose inverse has started to attract great attention by researchers and has become a popular subject. In this paper, we investigate the Moore–Penrose inverse of the conditional matrices via convolution product formula. In order to use convolution formula effectively, we derive some useful identities by using some properties of the generalized conditional sequence. Moreover, we express the Moore–Penrose inverse of the conditional matrices in the form of block matrices. Finally, we not only present more general results compared to earlier works, but also provide many novel results using analytical techniques.

Abstract:This paper deals with the nonlinear homologous design for truss structures using Moore-Penrose generalized inverse.The existence condition of solution for basic equation,which includes the constraint conditions of nonlinear homologous deformation,is expressed as a set of nonlinear equations with variables of nodal coordinates.The formulation is presentd for the first order derivation of general matrix to its variables in order to solve the nonlinear equation.After the solution of the nonlinear equations,the final shape is found.The validity of the proposed method is verified by numerical examples concerned with elastic planar truss.

Abstract:Many neural learning algorithms require to solve large least square systems in order to obtain synaptic weights. Moore-Penrose inverse matrices allow for solving such systems, even with rank deficiency, and they provide minimum-norm vectors of synaptic weights, which contribute to the regularization of the input-output mapping. It is thus of interest to develop fast and accurate algorithms for computing Moore-Penrose inverse matrices. In this paper, an algorithm based on a full rank Cholesky factorization is proposed. The resulting pseudoinverse matrices are similar to those provided by other algorithms. However the computation time is substantially shorter, particularly for large systems.

Abstract:The Moore-Penrose inverse is a genuine extension of the matrix inverse. Given a complex matrix, there uniquely exists another complex matrix satisfying the four Moore-Penrose conditions, and if the original matrix is nonsingular, it is exactly the inverse of that matrix. In the last one and half decade, in the study of approximate synthesis in kinematic, two generalizations of the Moore-Penrose inverse appeared for dual real matrices,including Moore-Penrose dual generalized inverse and dual Moore-Penrose generalized inverse (DMPGI). DMPGI satisfies the four Moore-Penrose conditions, but does not exist for uncountably many dual real matrices. %Another generalization, called Moore-Penrose dual generalized inverse (MPDGI), is different from DMPGI even if DMPGI exists. In this paper, based upon the singular value decomposition of dual matrices, we extend the first Moore-Penrose condition to dual matrices and introduce a genuine extension of the Moore-Penrose inverse to dual matrices, referred to as GMPI. Given a dual complex matrix, its GMPI is the unique dual complex matrix which satisfy the first extended and the other three Moore-Penrose conditions. If the original matrix is a complex matrix, its GMPI is exactly the Moore-Penrose inverse of that matrix. And if the original matrix is a dual real matrix and its DMPGI exists, its GMPI coincides with its DMPGI.

Abstract:A fast algorithm for calculating the inverse and group inverse and MoorePenrose inverse of a resultant matrix is presented by using the fast algorithm for finding polynomials. Only the rounding error exists when the fast algorithm is realized by computers, and only the entries in the first row of the resultant matrix is used in this algorithm, so the computing results are accurate in theory.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the normwise, mixed, and componentwise condition numbers and their upper bounds for the MoorePenrose inverse of the Kronecker product and more general matrix function compositions involving Kronecker products. We also present the condition numbers and their upper bounds for the associated Kronecker product linear least squares solution with full column rank. In practice, the derived upper bounds for the mixed and componentwise condition numbers for Kronecker product linear least squares solution can be efficiently estimated using the HagerHigham Algorithm. Abstract:The aim of this work is to characterize linear maps of infinite-dimensional inner product spaces where the Moore-Penrose inverse exists. This MP inverse generalizes the well-known Moore-Penrose inverse of a matrix $A\in \text{Mat}_{n\times m} ({\mathbb C})$. Moreover, a method for the computation of the MP inverse of some endomorphisms on infinite-dimensional vector spaces is given.
