Abstract:In this paper, we construct Virasoro-type additional symmetry of the constrained multi-component q-deformed KP (q-KP) hierarchy, which is obtained as particular reduction imposed on the multi-component q-KP hierarchy. Then the investigation of the multi-component q-deformed modified KP (q-mKP) hierarchy and its additional symmetry is given as well. Furthermore, the Virasoro-type additional symmetry and the corresponding algebraic structure in the constrained case are also considered.

Abstract:We present a new method, using asymptotic analysis, to obtain a system of recursion relations for integrals on moduli spaces of curves. By applying the asymptotic analysis on the join-cut relation of the ELSV formula, we derive the recursion relation of R. Dijkgraaf and E. and H. Verlinde, which is exactly the Virasoro constraints for topological gravity. This gives an alternative proof of Wittens Conjecture using asymptotic analysis.

Abstract:We construct a tau cover of the generalized Drinfeld-Sokolov hierarchy associated with an arbitrary affine Kac-Moody algebra with gradations s <= 1$\mathrm{s}\leqslant \mathbb {1}$ and derive its Virasoro symmetries. By imposing the Virasoro constraints we obtain solutions of the Drinfeld-Sokolov hierarchy of Witten-Kontsevich and of Brezin-Gross-Witten types, and of those characterized by certain ordinary differential equations of Painleve type. We also show the existence of affine Weyl group actions on the space of solutions of such ordinary differential equations, which generalizes the theory of Noumi and Yamada on affine Weyl group symmetries of the Painleve-type equations.

Abstract:For the Kadomtsev–Petviashvili (KP) hierarchy constructed in terms of the famous Sato theory, a ‘‘k constraint’’ is proposed that leads the hierarchy to the nonlinear system involving a finite number of dynamical coordinates. The eigenvalue problem of the k-constrained system is naturally obtained from the linear system of the KP hierarchy, which takes the form of kth-order polynomial coupled with a first-order one, thus we are able to derive the correspondent Lax pair, recursion operator, bi-Hamiltonian structures, and conserved quantities. The constraints for the BKP hierarchy are also sketched.

Abstract:Based on the Lax operator L and Orlov-Shulman’s M operator, the string equations of the q -KP hierarchy are established from the special additional symmetry flows, and the negative Virasoro constraint generators { L − n , n ≥ 1} of the 2-reduced q -KP hierarchy are also obtained.

Symmetry Integrability and Geometry Methods and Applications

Abstract:Using the determinant representation of gauge transformation operator, we have shown that the general form of tau function of the q-KP hierarchy is a q-deformed generalized Wronskian, which includes the q-deformed Wronskian as a special case. On the basis of these, we study the q-deformed constrained KP (q-cKP) hierarchy, i.e. l-constraints of q-KP hierarchy. Similar to the ordinary constrained KP (cKP) hierarchy, a large class of solutions of q-cKP hierarchy can be represented by q-deformed Wronskian determinant of functions satisfying a set of linear q-partial differential equations with constant coefficients. We obtained additional conditions for these functions imposed by the constraints. In particular, the effects of q-deformation (q-effects) in single q-soliton from the simplest tau function of the q-KP hierarchy and in multi-q-soliton from one-component q-cKP hierarchy, and their dependence of x and q, were also presented. Finally, we observe that q-soliton tends to the usual soliton of the KP equation when x -> 0 and q -> 1, simultaneously.

Abstract:This paper gives a recursion operator for a 1-constrained CKP hierarchy, and by the recursion operator it proves that the 1-constrained CKP hierarchy can be reduced to the mKdV hierarchy under condition $q=r$.

Abstract:In this paper, we study two generalized constrained integrable hierarchies, which are called the $c$-$k$ constrained KP and BKP hierarchies. The Fermionic picture of the $c$-$k$ constrained KP hierarchy is given. We give some solutions for the $c$-$k$ constrained KP hierarchy by using the free Fermion operators and define its additional symmetries. Its additional flows form a subalgebra of the Virasoro algebra. Furthermore, the additional flows acting on eigenfunctions $q_{i}(t)$ and adjoint eigenfunctions $r_{i}(t)$ of the $c$-$k$ constrained KP hierarchy are presented. Next, we define the $c$-$k$ constrained BKP hierarchy and obtain its bilinear identity and solutions. The algebra formed by the additional symmetric flow of the $c$-$k$ constrained BKP hierarchy that we defined is still a subalgebra of the Virasoro algebra and it is a subalgebra of the algebra formed by the additional flows of the $c$-$k$ constrained KP hierarchy.

Squared eigenfunction symmetry of the D$Δ$mKP hierarchy and its constraint

Abstract:In this paper squared eigenfunction symmetry of the differential-difference modified Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (D$\Delta$mKP) hierarchy and its constraint are considered. Under the constraint, the Lax triplets of the D$\Delta$mKP hierarchy, together with their adjoint forms, give rise to the positive relativistic Toda (R-Toda) hierarchy. An invertible transformation is given to connect the positive and negative R-Toda hierarchies. The positive R-Toda hierarchy is reduced to the differential-difference Burgers hierarchy. We also consider another D$\Delta$mKP hierarchy and show that its squared eigenfunction symmetry constraint gives rise to the Volterra hierarchy. In addition, we revisit the Ragnisco-Tu hierarchy which is a squared eigenfunction symmetry constraint of the differential-difference Kadomtsev-Petviashvili (D$\Delta$KP) system. It was thought the Ragnisco-Tu hierarchy does not exist one-field reduction, but here we find an one-field reduction to reduce the hierarchy to the Volterra hierarchy. Besides, the differential-difference Burgers hierarchy are also investigated in Appendix. A multi-dimensionally consistent 3-point discrete Burgers equation is given.

Virasoro constraints for K3 surfaces and monodromy operators

Abstract:The Virasoro constraints for moduli spaces of stable torsion free sheaves on a surface with only $(p,p)$-cohomology were recently proved by Bojko-Moreira-Lim. The rank 1 case, which is not restricted to surfaces with only $(p,p)$-cohomology, was established by Moreira. We prove Virasoro constraints for K3 surfaces using Markman monodromy operators, which allow us to reduce to the rank 1 case. We also prove new Virasoro constraints in rank 0. Finally, for K3 surfaces, we introduce new Virasoro operators in negative degree which, together with the previous Virasoro operators, give a representation of Virasoro algebra with central charge $24$.

Abstract:A method is proposed in this paper to construct a new extended q-deformed KP ($q$-KP) hiearchy and its Lax representation. This new extended $q$-KP hierarchy contains two types of q-deformed KP equation with self-consistent sources, and its two kinds of reductions give the q-deformed Gelfand-Dickey hierarchy with self-consistent sources and the constrained q-deformed KP hierarchy, which include two types of q-deformed KdV equation with sources and two types of q-deformed Boussinesq equation with sources. All of these results reduce to the classical ones when $q$ goes to 1. This provides a general way to construct (2+1)- and (1+1)-dimensional q-deformed soliton equations with sources and their Lax representations.

Abstract:We construct the ( -deformed) higher order total derivative operators and analyze their remarkable properties. In terms of these operators, we derive the higher order constraints for the ( -deformed) Hermitian matrix models. We prove that these ( -deformed) higher order constraints are reducible to the Virasoro constraints. Meanwhile, the Itoyama–Matsuo conjecture for the constraints of the Hermitian matrix model is proved. We also find that through rescaling variable transformations, two sets of the constraint operators become the W -operators of W -representations for the ( -deformed) partition function hierarchies in the literature.

Abstract:We consider the trilinear form of the Kaup-Broer system which gives rise to solutions in Wronskian form. The Kaup-Broer system is connected with AKNS system through a gauge transformation. The AKNS hierarchy can be understood as a generalized 1-constraint of the KP hierarchy. Imposing that constraint on Sato's equation we obtain the basic trilinear form and moreover a hierarchy of trilinear equations governing the AKNS flows. Similary, hierarchies of multilinear forms are derived in the case of generalized k-constraints.

Abstract:We study the KP and the k-constrained KP hierarchy where the negative part of the KP microdifferential operator is forced to take the form q partial derivative-1r. The bilinear identity Res(lambda)[(lambda-lambda0)psiBAR(t)psi%(t')] = 0 is derived as the bilinear Backlund transformation (BT) for the KP hierarchy. For the k-constrained KP hierarchy we find two additional bilinear relations which together with the above identity form the bilinear BT.
