Abstract:Resonances are uniquely characterized by their complex pole locations and the corresponding residues. In practice, however, resonances are typically identified experimentally as structures in invariant mass distributions, with branching fractions of resonances determined as ratios of count rates. To make contact between these quantities it is necessary to connect line shapes and resonance parameters. In this work we propose such a connection and illustrate the formalism with detailed studies of the $\rho(770)$ and $f_0(500)$ resonances. Based on the line shapes inferred from the resonance parameters along these lines, expressions for partial widths and branching ratios are derived and compared to other approaches in the literature.

Abstract:Recently, the BESIII collaboration performed a precise measurement of the e+e−→ηJ/ψ cross section. It is puzzling that the resonance parameters of the reported Y(4230) show a substantial divergence from the previously measured results in both the open-charmed and hidden-charmed decay channels, and the line shape asymmetry of the data approaching 4.2 GeV also suggests that it might be difficult to characterize the details of the structure around 4.2 GeV by a single resonance. This has motivated our great curiosity about how the charmonium states are distributed in the measured energy range and how they shape the puzzling data of the e+e−→ηJ/ψ cross section. In this work, we use five theoretically constructed charmonia in the range of 4.0–4.5 GeV, i.e., ψ(4040) , ψ(4160) , ψ(4220) , ψ(4380) , and ψ(4415) , to apply a combined fit to the data, in which their calculated decay ratios into ηJ/ψ via hadronic loop mechanism are taken as input. The fit results can reproduce the measured cross section data well, especially for the subtle line shape around 4.2 GeV, showing that the structure around 4.2 GeV is possible from the contribution of both ψ(4160) and ψ(4220) . https://doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevD.109.094048 Published by the American Physical Society under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license. Abstract:By analyzing the R values measured at 68 energy points in the energy region between 3.650 and 3.872 GeV reported in our previous paper, we have precisely measured the mass, the total width and the leptonic width of the ψ(3770) resonance to be Mψ(3770)=3772.4±0.4±0.3MeV, Γψ(3770)tot=28.5±1.2±0.2MeV and Γψ(3770)ee=277±11±13eV, respectively. We have measured the leptonic branching fraction of the ψ(3770) decays and the ψ(3770) production cross section at its peak to be B[ψ(3770)→e+e−]=(0.97±0.03±0.05)×10−5 and σprd[e+e−→ψ(3770)]=10.0±0.3±0.5 nb, respectively. The latter one results in the corresponding observed cross section of σobs[e+e−→ψ(3770)]=7.2±0.2±0.4 nb. We have also measured Ruds=2.121±0.023±0.084 for the continuum light hadron production in the region from 3.650 to 3.872 GeV.

Abstract:The recent results about charmonium and charmonium-like spectroscopy and decays from BESIII are presented in this talk. We report the observation of X(3872) from Y(4260) radiative transition, π+π-hc line shape measurement and Zc states. In addition, the accurate measurement of ηc parameters, the analysis on hc exclusive decays into γηc, and the first observation of the M1 transition ψ′ → γηc(2S) are included in this talk.

Abstract:Many vector charmonium-like states have been reported recently in the cross sections of $e^+e^- \rightarrow \omega\chi_{c0}$, $\pi^{+}\pi^{-}h_c$, $\pi^{+}\pi^{-}J/\psi$, $\pi^{+}\pi^{-}\psi(3686)$ and $\pi^{+}D^{0}D^{*-}+c.c.$ To better understand the nature of these states, a combined fit is performed to these cross sections by using three resonances $Y(4220)$, $Y(4390)$ and $Y(4660)$. The resonant parameters for the three resonances are obtained. We emphasize that two resonances $Y(4220)$ and $Y(4390)$ are sufficient to explain these cross sections below 4.6 GeV. The lower limits of $Y(4220)$ and $Y(4390)$'s leptonic decay widths are also determined to be $(36.4\pm2.0\pm4.2)$ and $(123.8\pm6.5\pm9.0)$ eV.

Shedding light on charmonium

Abstract:We investigate E1 radiative transitions within charmonium in a relativistic approach based on light-front QCD. In quantum field theory, two sets of processes are pure E1: χc0→J/ψγ ( ψ→χc0γ ) and hc→ηcγ ( ηc′→hcγ ), both involving the P -wave charmonia. We compute the E1 radiative decay widths as well as the corresponding transition form factors of various processes including those involving 2P states. These observables provide an access to the microscopic structures of the P -wave charmonium. Line-shape analysis of charmonium resonances

Abstract:We discuss weather the new enhancements found by BES, alias the $Y(4220)$, $Y(4260)$, $Y(4360)$, and $Y(4390)$ are true resonances. We argue that the nearby thresholds $D_s^*\bar{D}_s^*$, $D\bar{D}_1+\bar{D}D_1$, $D_s\bar{D}_{s1}+\bar{D_s}D_{s1}$ and $D^*\bar{D}_1+\bar{D}^*D_1$, as well as the $\psi(4160)$ and $\psi(4415)$ states have a strong influence over the observed $ J/\psi \pi^+\pi^-$ and $h_c \pi^+\pi^-$ line-shapes. We propose an unitarized effective Lagrangian model to study the dynamical effect of the interaction between each known $\psi$ state and its closest thresholds. In addition, we present some of our recent motivating results, using the same model, for the $\psi(3770)$ resonance, where the distortion from a Breit-Wigner line-shape is shown to result not only from the kinematic interference, but also from the influence of the $D^0\bar{D}^0+D^+D^-$ one-loops. Moreover, two poles were found, at about 3.78 GeV and at 3.74 GeV, the second one generated dynamically, yet contributing to the distortion of the line-shape.

Abstract:A precision measurement of the mass of the ${h}_{c}(^{1}P_{1})$ state of charmonium has been made using a sample of $24.5\\ifmmode\\times\\else\\texttimes\\fi{}{10}^{6}$ $\\ensuremath{\\psi}(2S)$ events produced in ${e}^{+}{e}^{\\ensuremath{-}}$ annihilation at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring (CESR). The reaction used was $\\ensuremath{\\psi}(2S)\\ensuremath{\\rightarrow}{\\ensuremath{\\pi}}^{0}{h}_{c}$, ${\\ensuremath{\\pi}}^{0}\\ensuremath{\\rightarrow}\\ensuremath{\\gamma}\\ensuremath{\\gamma}$, ${h}_{c}\\ensuremath{\\rightarrow}\\ensuremath{\\gamma}{\\ensuremath{\\eta}}_{c}$, and the reaction products were detected in the CLEO-c detector. Data have been analyzed both for the inclusive reaction and for the exclusive reactions in which ${\\ensuremath{\\eta}}_{c}$ decays are reconstructed in 15 hadronic decay channels. Consistent results are obtained in the two analyses. The averaged results of the present measurements are $M({h}_{c})=3525.28\\ifmmode\\pm\\else\\textpm\\fi{}\\phantom{\\rule{0ex}{0ex}}0.19(\\mathrm{stat}.)\\ifmmode\\pm\\else\\textpm\\fi{}0.12(\\mathrm{syst}.)\\text{ }\\text{ }\\mathrm{MeV}$, and $\\mathcal{B}\\mathbf{(}\\ensuremath{\\psi}(2S)\\ensuremath{\\rightarrow}{\\ensuremath{\\pi}}^{0}{h}_{c}\\mathbf{)}\\ifmmode\\times\\else\\texttimes\\fi{}\\mathcal{B}({h}_{c}\\ensuremath{\\rightarrow}\\ensuremath{\\gamma}{\\ensuremath{\\eta}}_{c})=(4.19\\ifmmode\\pm\\else\\textpm\\fi{}0.32\\ifmmode\\pm\\else\\textpm\\fi{}0.45)\\ifmmode\\times\\else\\texttimes\\fi{}{10}^{\\ensuremath{-}4}$. Using the $^{3}P_{J}$ centroid mass, $\\ensuremath{\\Delta}{M}_{hf}(1P)\\ensuremath{\\equiv}⟨M({\\ensuremath{\\chi}}_{cJ})⟩\\ensuremath{-}M({h}_{c})=+0.02\\ifmmode\\pm\\else\\textpm\\fi{}0.19\\ifmmode\\pm\\else\\textpm\\fi{}0.13\\text{ }\\text{ }\\mathrm{MeV}$.

Abstract:We measure the branching fractions for {psi}(3770){yields}D{sup 0}D{sup 0}, D{sup +}D{sup -}, DD, and non-DD to be (46.7{+-}4.7{+-}2.3)%, (36.9{+-}3.7{+-}2.8)%, (83.6{+-}7.3{+-}4.2)%, and (16.4{+-}7.3{+-}4.2)%, respectively. The resonance parameters of {psi}(3770) and {psi}(2S) are measured to be M{sub {psi}}{sub (3770)}=3772.2{+-}0.7{+-}0.3 MeV, {gamma}{sub {psi}}{sub (3770)}{sup tot}=26.9{+-}2.4{+-}0.3 MeV, and {gamma}{sub {psi}}{sub (3770)}{sup ee}=251{+-}26{+-}11 eV; M{sub {psi}}{sub (2S)}=3685.5{+-}0.0{+-}0.3 MeV, {gamma}{sub {psi}}{sub (2S)}{sup tot}=331{+-}58{+-}2 keV, and {gamma}{sub {psi}}{sub (2S)}{sup ee}=2.330{+-}0.036{+-}0.110 keV. We also measure the light hadron R value to be R{sub uds}=2.262{+-}0.054{+-}0.109 in the energy region from 3.660 to 3.872 GeV.
Charmonium decays into Λ c Λ ̄ c pair governed by the hadronic loop mechanism

Abstract:In this work, we investigate the open-charm decay process ψ→ΛcΛ¯c via the hadronic loop mechanism for vector charmonia above ΛcΛ¯c threshold. The branching ratios of these vector charmonium states to ΛcΛ¯c are estimated. The charmonium explanation of the Y(4630) observed in e+e-→ΛcΛ¯c is tested. Furthermore, for the predicted higher vector charmonia above 4.7 GeV, the branching ratios B[ψ(nS)→ΛcΛ¯c] with n=7, 8, 9 are found to be of the order of magnitude of 10-4-10-3 while B[ψ(mD)→ΛcΛ¯c] with m=6, 7, 8 are of the order of magnitude of 10-3-10-2. The experimental signals of these missing charmonium states are discussed. The search for them may be an interesting topic in the future BESIII and Belle II experiments.

Spectroscopy and Decay properties of the charmonium

Abstract:The mass spectra of charmonium are investigated using a Coulomb plus linear (Cornell) potential. Gaussian wave function in position space as well as in momentum space are employed to calculate the expectation value of potential and kinetic energy respectively. Various experimental states ($X(4660)(5^{3}S_{1})$, $X(3872)(2^{3}P_{1})$, $X(3900)(2^{1}P_{1})$, $X(3915)(2^{3}P_{0})$ and $X(4274)(3^{3}P_{1})$ etc.) are assigned as charmonium states. We also study the Regge trajectories, pseudoscalar and vector decay constants, the Electric and Magnetic dipole transition rates and the annihilation decay width for charmonium states.

Abstract:Abstract Based on the world’s largest J/ψ and ψ(3686) data sample at on-threshold production accumulated with BESIII detector, the recent results for charmonium decays are presented. These results selected in this proceeding are the study of J/ψ and ψ(3686) decay to ΛΛ̄ and Σ0Σ̄0, improved measurements of ψ(3686) → γχcJ , observation of hc → γη′ and evidence of hc → γη, ψ(3686) Dalitz decay to χcJ and χcJ Dalitz decay to J/ψ .

Abstract:We study the decays of the J/ψ and ψ′ mesons to π+π−π0 using data samples at both resonances collected with the BES III detector in 2009. We measure the corresponding branching fractions with unprecedented precision and provide mass spectra and Dalitz plots. The branching fraction for J/ψ→π+π−π0 is determined to be(2.137±0.004(stat.)−0.056+0.058(syst.)−0.026+0.027(norm.))×10−2, and the branching fraction for ψ′→π+π−π0 is measured as(2.14±0.03(stat.)−0.07+0.08(syst.)−0.08+0.09(norm.))×10−4. The J/ψ decay is found to be dominated by an intermediate ρ(770) state, whereas the ψ′ decay is dominated by di-pion masses around 2.2 GeV/c2, leading to strikingly different Dalitz distributions.
