Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the positive solution of nonlinear nonlocal porous medium equation ut−Δum = aup ∝Ω uqdx with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition and positive initial value u0(x), where m > 1, p, q ≥ 0. Under appropriate hypotheses, we establish the local existence and uniqueness of a positive classical solution, and obtain that the solution either exists globally or blows up in finite time by utilizing sub and super solution techniques. Furthermore, we yield the blow-up rate, i.e., there exist two positive constants C1, C2 such that where p+q > m > 1, T∗ is the blow-up time of u(x,t).

Abstract:In this paper, we study the blow-up and/or global existence of the following porous medium equation with variable source power, u t =Δ u m + u p ( x ) , in Ω×(0, T ), where Ω is either a bounded domain or the whole space R N , and p ( x ) is a positive and continuous bounded function defined in Ω satisfying 0 p - =inf p ( x )≤ p ( x )≤ p + =sup p ( x ) p ( x ) and the structure of spatial domain Ω. Roughly speaking, for the Cauchy problem, if p ( x )≤1, uniqueness of the solutions might not hold, and all nontrivial solutions exist globally. If p + > m , there are blow-up solutions. If 1 p ( x )≤ m +2/ N , every nontrivial solution blows up. If p ( x )> m +2/ N , there exist nontrivial global solutions. When p - m +2/ N , the examples we constructed suggest that for some p ( x ) all nontrivial solutions blow up and for others there exist global solutions. The situation is totally different in bounded domains. There is only one critical exponent p = m , while there are three factors, p ( x ); m and properties of the domain, interacting with each other. If p + > m , there are blow-up solutions as in R N . If p + m , all solutions exist globally in time. If p ( x )> m or the domain is small enough, there are global solutions. The most interesting part is that for some p ( x ) satisfying p - m p + , we find the Fujita phenomenon in the bounded domain.

Abstract:This paper investigates the qualitative properties of solutions to certain quasilinear parabolic equations. Under appropriate conditions, we obtain that the solution either exists globally or blows up in finite time by making use of the energy method and subsolution techniques. We find out that the behavior of solution heavily depends on the sign and the growth rate of the nonlinear reaction term and the nonlinear flux through boundary at infinity.

Abstract:We study the asymptotic behavior of the solutions to the problem \[\left\{ \begin{array}{rlll} u_t-\Delta u&=a u-b(x)u^p &\mbox{in} &(0,\infty)\times \Omega,\\ \alpha u_\nu+\beta u&=0 & \mbox{on}& (0,\infty)\times \partial \Omega,\\ u(0,.)&=u_0&\mbox{in}& \Omega, \end{array}\right. \] where $p>1$, $b(x)\geq 0$ is continuous and vanishes on the closure of a nontrivial subdomain $\Omega_0$ of $\Omega\subset R^N$. This case can be regarded as a mixture of the well-understood logistic (when b(x) > 0 always) and Malthusian (when $b(x)\equiv 0$) models and has attracted much study in recent years. It follows from recent studies that the model behaves like the logistic model if the growth rate a of the species is less than some constant a0 > 0 and it behaves differently from the logistic model once $a\geq a_0$. In this paper, we show that, when $a\geq a_0$, the model behaves like the Malthusian model on part of the domain (i.e., on $\Omega_0$ where b vanishes) and it behaves like the logistic model on the remaining part of the domain. Our study shows that the boundary blow-up problem \[ -\Delta u=au-b(x)u^p \mbox{ in} \ \Omega\setminus\overline{\Omega}_0,\ \alpha u_\nu +\beta u=0 \mbox{ on}\\partial \Omega,\ \ u=\infty \mbox{ on}\ \partial \Omega_0 \] plays a key role in understanding the dynamics of our model and that the whole theory can be described by a nice bifurcation picture involving a branch of positive solutions at "infinity."

In different regions divided by p, q, and m, we obtain the sufficient conditions for finite-time blow-up of the solutions, and get the upper and lower bounds of the blow-up time.

Abstract:In this paper, the author studies the long-time behavior of solutions to the p(x)-Laplace equation ut=div(|∇u|p(x)-2∇u)+f(u)$$u_t=\mathrm {div}(|\nabla u|^{p(x)-2}\nabla u)+f(u)$$, with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition in a bounded domain. As for the blow-up results, it is shown, by using the energy method, that the solutions of this problem blow up in finite time for nonpositive initial energy, or even for small positive initial energy. As for the extinction results, we give some sufficient conditions for the solutions to vanish in finite time. All these results generalize the ones when p(x) is a constant.

Our results extend some previous findings of [L. Wei, J. Zhu, The existence and blow-up rate of large solutions of one-dimensional p-Laplacian equations, Nonlinear Anal.: Real World Appl. 13 (2012) 665–676] in a certain sense.

Abstract:We extend the results for 2-D Boussinesq equations from ℝ2 to a bounded domain Ω. First, as for the existence of weak solutions, we transform Boussinesq equations to a nonlinear evolution equation U t + A(t, U) = 0. In stead of using the methods of fundamental solutions in the case of entire ℝ2, we study the qualities of F(u, υ) = (u · ▽)υ to get some useful estimates for A(t, U), which helps us to conclude the local-in-time existence and uniqueness of solutions. Second, as for blow-up criterions, we use energy methods, Sobolev inequalities and Gronwall inequality to control $\left\| \theta \right\|_{H^s (\Omega )} $ and $\left\| u \right\|_{H^s (\Omega )} $ by $\left\| {\nabla \theta } \right\|_{L^\infty (\Omega )} $ and $\left\| {\nabla u} \right\|_{L^\infty (\Omega )} $. Furthermore, $\left\| {\nabla \theta } \right\|_{L^\infty (\Omega )} $ can control $\left\| {\nabla u} \right\|_{L^\infty (\Omega )} $ by using vorticity transportation equations. At last, $\left\| {\nabla \theta } \right\|_{M_\phi (\Omega )} $ can control $\left\| {\nabla \theta } \right\|_{L^\infty (\Omega )} $. Thus, we can find a blow-up criterion in the form of $\lim _{t \to T^ * } \int_0^t {\left\| {\nabla \theta ( \cdot ,\tau )} \right\|_{M_\phi (\Omega )} d\tau = \infty } $.

Abstract:We show that blow up of solutions with arbitrary positive initial energy of the Cauchy problem for the abstract wacve eqation of the form $Pu_{tt}+Au=F(u) \ (*)$ in a Hilbert space, where $P,A$ are positive linear operators and $F(\cdot)$ is a continuously differentiable gradient operator can be obtained from the result of H.A. Levine on the growth of solutions of the Cauchy problem for (*). This result is applied to the study of inital boundary value problems for nonlinear Klein-Gordon equations, generalized Boussinesq equations and nonlinear plate equations. A result on blow up of solutions with positive initial energy of the initial boundary value problem for wave equation under nonlinear boundary condition is also obtained.

Abstract:In this study, we examine the wave equation with a nontrivial boundary condition. The main target of this study is to prove the local-in-time existence and the blow-up in finite time of the energy solution. Through the construction of an auxiliary function and the imposition of appropriate conditions on the initial data, we establish the both lower and upper bounds for the blow-up time of the solution. Meanwhile, based on these estimates, we obtain the result of the local-in-time existence and the blow-up of the energy solution. This approach enhances our understanding of the dynamics leading to blow-up in the considered condition.

We establish local well-posedness of this closed-loop system by using Kato theorem for abstract quasilinear evolution equation of hyperbolic type. Then, by using multiplier technique, we obtain a conservation law which enable us to present a blow-up result.

Abstract:We discuss a class of quasi-linear pseudo-parabolic equation with nonlocal source ut−Δut−∇⋅|∇u|2q∇u=up(x,t)∫Ωk(x,y)up+1(y,t)dyx,y∈Ω,t∈(0,T0],where q≤p and 0<q<n−22. By establishing the criterions for blow-up, we determine the upper bounds for blow-up time under not only q<p and non-positive initial energy but also q=p and negative initial energy. The results show that the upper bound for blow-up time under q<p is different from it under q=p. Moreover, we also determine the lower bound for blow-up time.

As a special case we recover the results to the case f(u)=u p and prove that, if f(u) is convex, ∫ ∞ 1/ f ( u ) du =∞, f(u) = u^Pc (log1ulog _2 1u...log _m - 11u)^ - 1 (log _m 1u)^ - q on a neighborhood of u=0 with log m denoting the logarithm iterated m times, and f satisfies a certain growth condition at infinity, the global solutions exist if q >1.
