RETROSPECT AND PROSPECT OF LAND USE DISCIPLINE IN NANJING UNIVERSITY

Abstract:Nanjing University is one of the earliest universities implementing land use research.After 1949,especially since the reform and opening up,the land-use discipline of Nanjing University has achieved rapid development,formed a relatively complete interdisciplinary development system,from the undergraduate,masters and doctoral to postdoctoral education,and established a talent team with a certain size and reasonable structure.After a long-term research,the discipline has gradually formed three key research areas.The research work of land use and planning area,covering land use change studies,land use planning and design,and environmental impact assessment of land use planning,was carried out mainly based on the theories and principles of geography.The research work of land economics and policy area,covering rural land tenure,land market development,industrial land use regulation,performance evaluation of land policy,and so on,was carried out from the perspective of economics and public management.The research work of land evaluation and remediation area,covering agricultural land classification and capacity accounting,temporal and spatial change of soil quality,land remediation research and engineering applications,land resources capacity,and so on,was carried out based on the national major science and technology projects.The research work of the two distinctive fields,covering urban land use change,urban land supply and real estate market,and so on,was developed based on the 985 project(the research platform of urbanization) of Nanjing University and the National Natural Science Foundation project,and with the social hot spots and focus issues.
