Abstract:The responsibilities and functions in project safety risk management for designers and contractors are discussed. Generally the process of risk management is divided into three stages: the risk identification, evaluation, and decision making. The former two are mainly the designer's responsibility, for which a model of sub-system risk management approach is put forward. The model is exemplified and analyzed with real cases. The feasibility in risk identification and evaluation period is proved. The evaluation criteria of occurrence probability of unexpected events and severity of outcomes are rationally set up in evaluation method, which provide the scientific basis in risk evaluation of the construction safety.

Abstract:Risk analysis is a set of techniques used to investigate problems created by uncertainty and to assess their effects. Today it is used in many areas, especially where safety is important. Now the project management in the area of IT (information technology) is becoming hot topic. And the risk problems in IT projects, especially in software development projects become more and more concentrated in software project management. So risk analysis in the area of software development project becomes increasingly important. This work analyses systematically the characteristics of project management for software itself, then the paper analyses the risk of software development projects in the following two aspects: one for owners and another for contractors. To owners the paper identifies and analyses the risk in software development projects according to lifecycle of a project. To contractors the paper identifies and assesses the risk of managing software development project on the basis of investigation of software development project in the IT enterprises of China. Some conclusions are obtained with the statistical analysis of this questionnaire-data by SPSS (statistics package for social science).

Abstract:China now are in the peak of constructions of civil engineering with large-scales and construction of public engineering is becoming vigorous. The public projects directly affect the vital interests of the people and the basic construction of national comprehensive development. Because of its large investment,long construction period,complex technology and participation in the project construction units and involving a large number of risk in construction,an effective project risk management has become imperative. This paper is based on the practice. By analyzing 102 announcements of auditing report about public project,the key risks of public projects have been summed up. Then,using AHP to determine the extent that risk factors affect the project. Combined with the theory and methods of risk management,the paper conducted a preliminary exploration on risk management strategy in public project.

Abstract:According to the phenomenon that project owners' sense of crisis is not strong,and contract risk management has not been widely attented,this paper proposes a list of risks in the owners' construction contract in the water resources and hydropower projects,which includes the risk of contract terms,contract performance risk,technology risk,natural and environmental risks,contract law risk,social political and economic policies risk.Checklist method are used to identify the owner's contract management risks at Tuokou station.AHP and expert scoring quantitative are used to compute Tuokou hydropower construction contract owner's risk.For the risk factors with high occurrence possibility and great influences the paper proposes risk prevention measures that the owners should take,including establishing of a sound contract management system and workflow,taking immigration as the primary issue of local government,and listing the risk fees and costs as well as agreed scope of the risk owners risk prevention measures to be taken.These measures in practice play a good role in preventing risks of the owners.

Abstract:There has been an increase in research on risk management practice in the construction industry. However, little research has been conducted to systematically investigate the overall aspects of risk management on the perspectives of various project participants. This paper reports the findings of an empirical Chinese industry survey on the importance of project risks, application of risk management techniques, status of the risk management system, and the barriers to risk management, which were perceived by the main project participants. The risk management strategies adopted in the Three Gorges Project were also studied. The study reveals that: Most project risks are commonly of concern to project participants; the industry has shifted from risk transfer to risk reduction; current risk management systems are inadequate to manage project risks; and lack of joint risk management mechanisms is the key barrier to adequate risk management. Future studies should be conducted to systematically improve the risk management in construction by different approaches that facilitate equitable sharing of rewards through effective risk management among participants. Such studies should also consider the establishment of an open communication risk management process to permit the corporate experience of all participants, as well as their personal knowledge and judgment, to be effectively utilized.

Abstract:Improved safety performances of construction projects require the cooperative endeavors of different parties involved in construction industry, including the project owner, general contractor, subcontractor, A/E firm, etc. The owner, generally the initiator and sponsor of a project, may have greater influence on a project's safety than any other participants through personal commitment and participation. This study demonstrates a profile of the present owner's impact on project safety performances of projects in Shanghai region, China. A set of questionnaires were designed and the questions consist of four major parts: general conditions of a project, owner's influential factors, safety effectiveness, and interviewees' profiles. 55 contractors were surveyed for the attitudes and behaviors of their clients on project safety. The answered questionnaires were then analyzed and studied by using a non-parametric statistical method to determine the effectiveness of the owner's attitudes and behaviors on safety performance of construction projects. It was concluded that 8 specific attitudes and behaviors of the owner are effective to improve the safety performance of a construction project. Language: zh
