Study on the Property of Polyarylene Ether Nitriles Toughening Polybenzoxazine Resins and Cured Polymers

Abstract:The polybenzoxazine(B-z)/polyarylene ether nitriles(PEN)resins and cured film were prepared by solution mixing and tape casting method.The heat resistance,mechanical properties and the micro-morphology of the cured polymers were investigated by DSC,TGA,mechanical property test and SEM analysis.The relationship between the properties and the microstructures was discussed.The results indicated that toughness and heat resistance of B-z were obviously improved with the addition of PEN.The char yield of the cured product with 15% PEN was up to 62.13% at 800 ℃ and was increased by 20% compared to that of the pure B-z.The tensile strength and elongation at break were both improved with maintaining the elastic modulus of the material.
