Abstract:In this paper,the singular second order four-point boundary value problemu″(t)+h(t)f(t,u(t))=0,0t1,u(0)=αu(ξ),u(1)=βu(η),is studied,where 0ξη1,0α,β1,f(t,u) may be singular at u=0,h(t) may be singular at t=0,1.By the use of the property of the corresponding Green′s function and existence principle,existence of positive solution are acquired.

Abstract:A fixed point theorem is used to study a singular second order three-point boundary value problem. The problem is more general. Combining the method of constructing Green functions with operators defined piecewise, the existence result of positive solutions to a singular second order three-point boundary value problem is established. Abstract:We consider the classical nonlinear fourth-order two-point boundary value problem . In this problem, the nonlinear term h(t)f(t, u(t), u′(t), u″(t)) contains the first and second derivatives of the unknown function, and the function h(t)f(t, x, y, z) may be singular at t = 0, t = 1 and at x = 0, y = 0, z = 0. By introducing suitable height functions and applying the fixed point theorem on the cone, we establish several local existence theorems on positive solutions and obtain the corresponding eigenvalue intervals.

Abstract:We consider the existence of positive solutions for the following fourth-order singular Sturm–Liouville eigenvalue problems{1p(t)(p(t)u‴(t))′−λg(t)F(t,u,u″)=0,0<t<1,α1u(0)−β1u′(0)=0,γ1u(1)+δ1u′(1)=0,α2u″(0)−β2limt→0+p(t)u‴(t)=0,γ2u″(1)+δ2limt→1−p(t)u‴(t)=0, where λ>0, g,p may be singular at t=0 and/or 1. Moreover, F(t,x,y) may also have singularity at x=0 and/or y=0. By using fixed point theory in cones, an explicit interval for λ is derived such that for any λ in this interval, the existence of at least one positive solution to the boundary value problem is guaranteed. Our results extend and improve many known results including singular and nonsingular cases.
