Abstract:In this paper, we consider the existence of countably many positive solutions for nth-order m-point boundary value problems consisting of the equation u(n)(t)+a(t)f(u(t))=0,t∈(0,1), with one of the following boundary value conditions: u(0)=∑i=1m−2kiu(ξi),u′(0)=⋯=u(n−2)(0)=0,u(1)=0, and u(0)=0,u′(0)=⋯=u(n−2)(0)=0,u(1)=∑i=1m−2kiu(ξi), where n≥2,ki>0(i=1,2,…,m−2),0<ξ1<ξ2<⋯<ξm−2<1,a(t)∈Lp[0,1] for some p≥1 and has countably many singularities in [0,12). The associated Green’s function for the nth order m-point boundary value problem is first given, and we show that there exist countably many positive solutions using Holder’s inequality and Krasnoselskii’s fixed point theorem for operators on a cone.

Abstract:In this paper we prove the existence and multiplicity of solutions for the elliptic system Δu=u,Δv=vinΩ with nonlinear coupling at the smooth boundary given by ∂u∂ν=Hu,∂v∂ν=Hvon∂Ω, where Ω is a bounded domain of RN with smooth boundary, ∂/∂ν is the outer normal derivative. The proofs are done under suitable assumptions on the Hamiltonian, and based on the local linking theorem and a multiple critical points theorem of the critical point theory.

Abstract:In this paper, we mainly establish the existence of at least three non-trivial solutions for a class of nonhomogeneous quasilinear elliptic systems with Dirichlet boundary value or Neumann boundary value in a bounded domain $\Omega\subset\mathbb{R}^N $ and $N\geq 1$. We exploit the method which is based on [6]. This method let us obtain the concrete open interval about the parameter $\lambda$. Since the quasilinear term depends on $u$ and $\nabla u$, it is necessary for our proofs to use the theory of monotone operators and the skill of adding one dimension to space.

Abstract:In this paper, we study a two-point boundary value problem involving p -Laplacian and its relationship with the associated discrete ones. Specifically, by using discrete variational methods, we first obtain a sequence of positive solutions for the associated discrete two-point boundary value problems corresponding to different step lengths. Then, utilizing the sequence of positive solutions, we construct a sequence of continuous functions which can be shown to be precompact. Finally, we prove that the limit function of the convergent subsequence is the desired positive solution. In particular, our result covers the cases when the nonlinear function in the equation is -superlinear and asymptotically -linear.

Abstract:A monotone iterative method is proposed to solve nonlinear discrete boundary value problems with the support of upper and lower solutions. We establish some new existence results. Under some sufficient conditions, we establish maximum principle for linear discrete boundary value problem, which relies on Green's function and its constant sign. We then use it to establish existence of unique solution for the nonlinear discrete boundary value problem $\Delta^2 y(t-1)= f(t, y(t)),~t\in[1, T]$, $y(0)=0,~y(T+1)=0$.

Abstract:In this paper we develop the monotone method in the presence of upper and lower solutions for the 2nd order Lidstone boundary value problem [ u^(2n) (t) = f(t, u(t), u”(t),...,u^(2(n - 1)) (t)), 0 < t < 1,; u^(2i) (0) = u^(2i) (1) = 0, 0 ⩽ i ⩽ n - 1,; ] where f : [0, 1] × ℝ n → ℝ is continuous. We obtain sufficient conditions on f to guarantee the existence of solutions between a lower solution and an upper solution for the higher order boundary value problem.

By the fixed point theorem and the Hölder inequality, we study the existence of symmetric positive solutions for the above difference equation with sum form boundary conditions.
