Abstract:This paper is concerned with the following semilinear elliptic equations of the formwhere ε is a small positive parameter, and where f and g denote superlinear and subcritical nonlinearity. Suppose that b(x) has at least one maximum. We prove that the system has a ground-state solution (ψε, φε) for all sufficiently small ε > 0. Moreover, we show that (ψε, φε) converges to the ground-state solution of the associated limit problem and concentrates to a maxima point of b(x) in certain sense, as ε → 0. Furthermore, we obtain sufficient conditions for nonexistence of ground-state solutions.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the following nonperiodic Hamiltonian elliptic system {−ε2△u+V(x)u=Hu(x,u,v)inRN,−ε2△v+V(x)v=−Hv(x,u,v)inRN,u(x)→0andv(x)→0as|x|→∞, where ε>0 is a small parameter, and the potential V is bounded below, and H is asymptotically linear in z as |z|→∞ with z=(u,v). By applying a generalized linking theorem of strongly indefinite functionals, we obtain the existence of multiple semiclassical solutions for the above system.

Abstract:The following semi-linear elliptic equations involving Hardy–Sobolev critical exponents −Δu−μux2=u2*s−2xsu+g(x,u),x∈Ω∖0,u=0,x∈∂Ω have been investigated, where Ω is an open-bounded domain in RNN≥3, with a smooth boundary ∂Ω, 0∈Ω,0≤μ<μ ̄:=N−222,0≤s<2, and 2*s=2N−s/N−2 is the Hardy–Sobolev critical exponent. This problem comes from the study of standing waves in the anisotropic Schrödinger equation; it is very important in the fields of hydrodynamics, glaciology, quantum field theory, and statistical mechanics. Under some deterministic conditions on g, by a detailed estimation of the extremum function and using mountain pass lemma with PSc conditions, we obtained that: (a) If μ≤μ ̄−1, and λ<λ1μ, then the above problem has at least a positive solution in H01Ω; (b) If μ ̄−1<μ<μ ̄,then when λ*μ<λ<λ1μ, the above problem has at least a positive solution in H01Ω; (c) if μ ̄−1<μ<μ ̄ and Ω=B(0,R), then the above problem has no positive solution for λ≤λ*μ. These results are extensions of E. Jannelli's research (g(x,u)=λu).

Abstract:This paper deals with the existence of positive solutions for the nonlinear system q(t)\phi(p(t)u'_{i}(t)))'+f^{i}(t,\textbf{u})=0,\quad 0<t<1,\quad i=1,2,...,n. This system often arises in the study of positive radial solutions of nonlinear elliptic system. Here $\textbf{u}=(u_{1},...,u_{n})$ and $f^{i}, i=1,2,...,n$ are continuous and nonnegative functions, $p(t), q(t)\hbox{\rm :} [0,1]\to (0,\oo)$ are continuous functions. Moreover, we characterize the eigenvalue intervals for (q(t)\phi(p(t)u'_{i}(t)))'+\lambda h_{i}(t)g^{i} (\textbf{u})=0, \quad 0<t<1,\quad i=1,2,...,n. The proof is based on a well-known fixed point theorem in cones.

Abstract:In this paper, we consider the existence of positive solutions of an equation with p -Laplacian where n ≥ 3, 1 < p < n , q > 0, Δ p u = div(|∇ u | p −2 ∇ u ), and K ( x ) is a double bounded function. We will prove the following results. When 0 < q < p − 1, the equation has no solution satisfying inf R n u = 0 for any double bounded function K ( x ). When q = p − 1, the equation has a positive radial singular solution for K ( x ) ≡ Const. . In addition, q = p − 1 is a necessary condition such that this equation (with K ( x ) ≡ 1) has finite energy solutions. In addition, the existence of positive solutions are also derived for the system where u , v > 0 in R n \ {0}, n ≥ 3, 1 < p 1 , p 2 < n , q 1 , q 2 > 0, and K 1 ( x ), K 2 ( x ) are double bounded functions.

Abstract:We study positive solutions of an equation with singular nonlinearities. The equation arises in the study of equilibrium states of thin films. Under weak assumptions on the nonlinearity, we show that for N >= 3 there exists a family of radial solutions {u(alpha)}(alpha>0) with u(alpha)(0) = alpha and each of them is oscillatory in ( 0, infinity). We obtain then a singular radial solution in ( 0, infinity) by taking the limit alpha --> 0. Meanwhile, using the solutions obtained in ( 0, infinity), we show some existence results for the corresponding Neumann eigenvalue problem on a ball.

Abstract:In this paper we obtain necessary conditions and sufficient conditions on the initial data for the solvability of fractional semilinear heat equations with power nonlinearities in the Heisenberg group $\mathbb{H}^N$. Using these conditions, we can prove that $1+2/Q$ separates the ranges of exponents of nonlinearities for the global-in-time solvability of the Cauchy problem (so-called the Fujita-exponent), where $Q=2N+2$ is the homogeneous dimension of $\mathbb{H}^N$, and identify the optimal strength of the singularity of the initial data for the local-in-time solvability. Furthermore, our conditions lead sharp estimates of the life span of solutions with nonnegative initial data having a polynomial decay at the space infinity.

Abstract:In this paper, we delve into a discrete nonlinear singular semipositone problem, characterized by a nonlinear boundary condition. The nonlinearity, given by f(u)−auα with α>0, exhibits a singularity at u=0 and tends towards −∞ as u approaches 0+. By constructing some suitable auxiliary problems, the difficulty that arises from the singularity and semipositone of nonlinearity and the lack of a maximum principle is overcome. Subsequently, employing the Krasnosel'skii fixed-point theorem, we determine the parameter range that ensures the existence of at least one positive solution and the emergence of at least two positive solutions. Furthermore, based on our existence results, one can obtain the symmetry of the solutions after adding some symmetric conditions on the given functions by using a standard argument.

Abstract:This paper studies the existence of positive solutions of the nonlinear p-Laplacian equation −Δpu=f(x,u) in Rn. Existence of infinitely many positive solutions is established via super–sub-solution methods. Decaying conditions on f(x,u) at |x|=∞ are imposed. Necessity of the conditions and nonexistence of positive solutions are illustrated through decay–growth estimates of solutions at infinity. Special situation and examples are checked in detail.

Abstract:We investigate the following Kirchhoff-Hénon type equation involving the critical Sobolev exponent with Dirichlet boundary condition: \[ - \bigg( a + b \bigg( \int_\Omega \lvert Du \rvert^2 dx \bigg)^{(p-2)/2} \bigg) \Delta u = \Psi u^{q-1} + \lvert x \rvert^\alpha u^{2^* - 1} \] in $\Omega$ included in a unit ball under several conditions. Here, $a, b \geq 0$, $a + b > 0$, $2 < p < q < 2^*$ and $\Psi \in L^\infty(\Omega) \setminus \{ 0 \}$ is a given non-negative function with several conditions. We show that, if either $N = 3$ with $4 < q < 2^* = 6$ or $N \geq 4$, there exists a positive solution for small $\alpha \geq 0$. Our methods includes the mountain pass theorem and the Talenti function.
