Abstract:We derive a parabolic equation for the Kähler angle of a real surface evolving under the mean curvature flow in a Kähler-Einstein surface and show that a symplectic curve remains symplectic with the flow.

Abstract:In this paper we extend the Cheeger–Colding–Tian theory to the conic Kahler–Einstein metrics. In general, there are no smooth approximations of a family of conic Kahler–Einstein metrics with Ricci curvature uniformly bounded from below. So we have to deal with the technical issues to extend the original arguments.

Abstract:We continue studying a parabolic flow of almost Kähler structures introduced by Streets and Tian which naturally extends Kähler-Ricci flow onto symplectic manifolds. In the system of primarily the symplectic form, almost complex structure, Chern torsion and Chern connection, we establish new formulas for the evolutions of canonical quantities, in particular those related to the Chern connection. Using this, we give an extended characterization of fixed points of the flow originally performed by Streets and Tian.

Abstract:surface Σ is a graph in ℝ 4 if there is a unit constant 2-form ω on ℝ 4 such that < e 1 ∧ e 2 , ω ≥ v 0 >0 where e 1 , e 2 is an orthonormal frame on Σ. We prove that, if ϑ _0⩾1/√(2) on the initial surface, then the mean curvature flow has a global solution and the scaled surfaces converge to a self-similar solution. A surface Σ is a graph in M 1 × M 2 where M 1 and M 2 are Riemann surfaces, if < e 1 ∧ e 2 , ω 1 >≥ v 0 >0 where ω 1 is a Kähler form on M 1 . We prove that, if M is a Kähler-Einstein surface with scalar curvature R , ϑ _0⩾1/√(2) on the initial surface, then the mean curvature flow has a global solution and it sub-converges to a minimal surface, if, in addition, R ≥0 it converges to a totally geodesic surface which is holomorphic.

Abstract:Let M be a Kähler surface and Σ be a closed symplectic surface which is smoothly immersed in M. Let α be the Kähler angle of Σ in M. We ﬁrst deduce the Euler–Lagrange equation of the functional L = ∫Σ 1/cos α dµ in the class of symplectic surfaces. It is cos3 α H = (J(\_J\_∇ cos α)⊤)⊥ , where H is the mean curvature vector of Σ in M, and J is the complex structure compatible with the Kähler form ω in M; it is an elliptic equation. We call a surface satisfying a this equation a symplectic critical surface. We show that, if M is a Kähler–Einstein surface with a nonnegative scalar curvature, each symplectic critical surface is holomorphic. We also study the topological properties of symplectic critical surfaces. By our formula and Webster’s formula, we deduce that the Kähler angle of a compact symplectic critical surface is constant, which is not true a for noncompact symplectic critical surfaces.

Abstract: Let $(M,\overline{g})$ be a K\"ahler surface, and $\Sigma$ an immersed surface in $M$. The K\"ahler angle of $\Sigma$ in $M$ is introduced by Chern-Wolfson \cite{CW}. Let $(M,\overline{g}(t))$ evolve along the K\"ahler-Ricci flow, and $\Sigma_t$ in $(M,\overline{g}(t))$ evolve along the mean curvature flow. We show that the K\"ahler angle $\alpha(t)$ satisfies the evolution equation: $$ (\frac{\partial}{\partial t}-\Delta)\cos\alpha=|\overline\nabla J_{\Sigma_t}|^2\cos\alpha+R\sin^2\alpha\cos\alpha, $$ where $R$ is the scalar curvature of $(M, \overline{g}(t))$. The equation implies that, if the initial surface is symplectic (Lagrangian), then along the flow, $\Sigma_t$ is always symplectic (Lagrangian) at each time $t$, which we call a symplectic (Lagrangian) K\"ahler-Ricci mean curvature flow. In this paper, we mainly study the symplectic K\"ahler-Ricci mean curvature flow.

Abstract:In this paper, we mainly study the mean curvature flow in Kähler surfaces with positive holomorphic sectional curvatures. We prove that if the ratio of the maximum and the minimum of the holomorphic sectional curvatures is less than 2, then there exists a positive constant $\delta$ depending on the ratio such that $\cos\alpha\geq\delta$ is preserved along the flow.

Abstract:Let Σ be an immersed symplectic surface in CP 2 with constant holomorphic sectional curvature k > 0. Suppose Σ evolves along the mean curvature flow in CP 2. In this paper, we show that the symplectic mean curvature flow exists for long time and converges to a holomorphic curve if the initial surface satisfies ${|A|^2 \leq \lambda|H|^2 + \frac{2\lambda-1}{\lambda}k}$ and ${\cos\alpha\geq\sqrt{\frac{7\lambda-3}{3\lambda}}\left(\frac{1}{2} < \lambda\leq\frac{2}{3}\right) {\rm or} |A|^2\leq \frac{2}{3}|H|^2+\frac{4}{5}k\cos\alpha\, {\rm and} \cos\alpha\geq 1-\varepsilon}$ , for some ${\varepsilon}$.

In this paper, we show that the symplectic mean curvature flow exists for long time and converges to a holomorphic curve if the initial surface satisfies $|A|^2\leq 2/3|H|^2+1/2 k$ and $\cos\alpha\geq \frac{\sqrt{30}}{6}$ or $|A|^2\leq 2/3 |H|^2+4/5 k\cos\alpha$ and $\cos\alpha\ge251/265$.

Abstract:Recently, J. Streets and G. Tian introduced a natural way to evolve an almost-Kähler manifold called the symplectic curvature flow, in which the metric, the symplectic structure and the almost-complex structure are all evolving. We study in this paper different aspects of the flow on locally homogeneous manifolds, including long-time existence, solitons, regularity and convergence. We develop in detail two classes of Lie groups, which are relatively simple from a structural point of view but yet geometrically rich and exotic: solvable Lie groups with a codimension one abelian normal subgroup and a construction attached to each left symmetric algebra. As an application, we exhibit a soliton structure on most of symplectic surfaces which are Lie groups. A family of ancient solutions which develop a finite time singularity was found; neither their Chern scalar nor their scalar curvature are monotone along the flow and they converge in the pointed sense to a (non-Kähler) shrinking soliton solution on the same Lie group.

Abstract:In this article, we derive the Euler-Lagrange equation of the functional L-beta = integral(Sigma) 1/cos(beta) alpha d mu, beta not equal -1 in the class of symplectic surfaces. It is cos(3) alpha H = beta(J(J del cos alpha)inverted perpendicular)(perpendicular to), which is an elliptic equation when beta >= 0. We call such a surface a beta-symplectic critical surface. We first study the properties for each fixed beta-symplectic critical surface and then prove that the set of beta where there is a stable ss-symplectic critical surface is open. We believe it should be also closed. As a precise example, we study rotationally symmetric beta-symplectic critical surfaces in C-2 carefully.
Conical Kähler–Einstein Metrics Revisited

Abstract:In this paper we introduce the “interpolation–degeneration” strategy to study Kähler–Einstein metrics on a smooth Fano manifold with cone singularities along a smooth divisor that is proportional to the anti-canonical divisor. By “interpolation” we show the angles in (0, 2π] that admit a conical Kähler–Einstein metric form a connected interval, and by “degeneration” we determine the boundary of the interval in some important cases. As a first application, we show that there exists a Kähler–Einstein metric on ${\mathbb{P}^2}$ with cone singularity along a smooth conic (degree 2) curve if and only if the angle is in (π/2, 2π]. When the angle is 2π/3 this proves the existence of a Sasaki–Einstein metric on the link of a three dimensional A 2 singularity, and thus answers a question posed by Gauntlett–Martelli–Sparks–Yau. As a second application we prove a version of Donaldson’s conjecture about conical Kähler–Einstein metrics in the toric case using Song–Wang’s recent existence result of toric invariant conical Kähler–Einstein metrics.

Abstract:The existence of Kähler-Einstein metrics on a compact Kähler manifold hasbeen the subject of intensive study over the last few decades, following Yau'ssolution to Calabi's conjecture. The Ricci flow, introduced by Richard Hamiltonhas become one of the most powerful tools in geometric analysis. We study the Kähler-Ricci flow on minimal surfaces of Kodaira dimension oneand show that the flow collapses and converges to a unique canonical metric onits canonical model. Such a canonical is a generalized Kähler-Einsteinmetric. Combining the results of Cao, Tsuji, Tian and Zhang, we give a metricclassification for Käher surfaces with a numerical effective canonical linebundle by the Kähler-Ricci flow. In general, we propose a program of findingcanonical metrics on canonical models of projective varieties of positiveKodaira dimension.

Abstract:In Streets and Tian (2010) [1] the authors introduced a parabolic flow for pluriclosed metrics, referred to as pluriclosed flow. We also demonstrated in Streets and Tian (2010) (preprint) [2] that this flow, after certain gauge transformations, gives a class of solutions to the renormalization group flow of the nonlinear sigma model with B-field. Using these transformations, we show that our pluriclosed flow preserves generalized Kähler structures in a natural way. Equivalently, when coupled with a nontrivial evolution equation for the two complex structures, the B-field renormalization group flow also preserves generalized Kähler structure. We emphasize that it is crucial to evolve the complex structures in the right way to establish this fact.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the functional $L_\beta =\int _\varSigma \frac{1}{\cos ^\beta \alpha }d\mu ,~\beta \ne -1$ in the class of symplectic surfaces. We derive the Euler-Lagrange equation. We call such a critical surface a $\beta $-symplectic critical surface. When $\beta =0$, it is the equation of minimal surfaces. When $\beta \ne 0$, a minimal surface with constant Kähler angle satisfies this equation, especially, a holomorphic curve or a special Lagrangian surface satisfies this equation. We study the properties of the $\beta $-symplectic critical surfaces.

Abstract:. In this paper, we prove that if M is a Kähler-Einstein surface with positive scalar curvature, if the initial metric has nonnegative sectional curvature, and the curvature is positive somewhere, then the Kähler-Ricci flow converges to a Kähler-Einstein metric with constant bisectional curvature. In a subsequent paper [7], we prove the same result for general Kähler-Einstein manifolds in all dimension. This gives an affirmative answer to a long standing problem in Kähler Ricci flow: On a compact Kähler-Einstein manifold, does the Kähler-Ricci flow converge to a Kähler-Einstein metric if the initial metric has a positive bisectional curvature? Our main method is to find a set of new functionals which are essentially decreasing under the Kähler Ricci flow while they have uniform lower bounds. This property gives the crucial estimate we need to tackle this problem.
