Abstract:Objective:To improve the diagnostic level on the bladder tumor with calcification as bladder calculi. Methods:The clinical data from 9 patients (7 males and 2 females) who suffered from bladder tumor with calcification as bladder calculi were reviewed retrospectively. The average age of the patients was 57 years old (39-80 years),and the mean course of disease was 13 days (7-45 days). Urinary tract irritation was present at varying degrees in all patients. Urinary tract infection was observed in 8 patients (88.9%),gross hematuria was observed in 5 patients (55.6%),emiction interruption was observed in 3 patients (33.3%),urinary obstruction symptom was observed in 3 patients (33.3%),and 1 patient had lithecbole history (11.1%). Ultrasonography showed bladder calculi in all patients including 7 solitary (77.8%) and 2 multiple calculi (22.2%),and kidney ureter bladder examination indicated that 6 patients had bladder calculi (66.7%). Bladder tumor was found in 7 patients by preoperative cystoscopy,and was found in 2 patients during operation. Radical cystectomy and ileal conduit were performed in 2 patients with multiple bladder tumors. Of the 7 patients with solitary calculi,5 patients received partial bladder resection,one patient received partial bladder resection plus left ureteral reimplantation,and one patient received transurethral electro-resection treatment for bladder tumor. Results:Pathological examination verified that all the 9 patients had urothelial carcinoma of bladder,including 2 cases with low-grade and 7 cases with high-grade. Two patients were classified as stage T2a,5 patients at stage T2b,1 patient at stage T3a and 1 patient at stage T4a. Nine patients were followed up for 2 to 6 years with mean follow-up period of 42 months. One patient had recurrence at 7 months after transurethral electro-resection,and two patients had recurrence at 13 or 17 months after bladder partial resection. Conclusion:Urinary tract irritation symptoms including frequent urination,urgent urination,and enuresis are the main clinical manifestations of patients who suffered from bladder tumor with calcification as bladder calculi. Cystectomy or partial bladder resection must be performed as soon as possible,because the tumor is highly malignant and has high occurrence of muscle layer invasion.
