Abstract:In this paper we completely characterize finite rank semicommutator or commutator of two Toeplitz operators with bounded harmonic symbols on the Bergman space. We show that if the product of two Toeplitz operators with bounded harmonic symbols has finite rank, then one of the Toeplitz operators must be zero.

Abstract:A sufficient condition is found for the product of two Toeplitz operators on the Hardy space of the unit sphere to be a compact perturbation of a Toeplitz operator. The condition leads to a criterion for a Hankel operator to be compact.

Several conditions equivalent to compactness of Tfg − TfTg are given. B is called the skew commutator of A if In this paper, we completely characterize when a Toeplitz operator on the Hardy space is a skew commutator of a Hankel operator and when a Hankel operator on the Hardy space is a skew commutator of a Toeplitz operator. Moreover, we also obtain a necessary and sufficient condition for the product of a Hankel operator and a Toeplitz operator to be self-adjoint on the Hardy space.

Abstract:In this paper we completely characterize compact Toeplitz operators on the harmonic Bergman space. By using this result we establish the short exact sequences associated with the Toeplitz algebra and the Hankel algebra. We show that the Fredholm index of each Fredholm operator in the Toeplitz algebra or the Hankel algebra is zero.

Abstract:A truncated Toeplitz operator is the compression of a classical Toeplitz operator on the Hardy space to a model space. A truncated Hankel operator is the compression of a Hankel operator on the Hardy space to the orthogonal complement of a model space. We study the product of a truncated Hankel operator and a truncated Toeplitz operator, and characterize when such a product is zero or compact.

Abstract:A major open question in the theory of Toeplitz operator on the Bergman space of the unit disk of the complex plane is to fully characterize the set of all Toeplitz operators that commute with a given one. In [2], the second author described the sum $S = T_{e^{im\theta}f} +T_{e^{il\theta}g}$, where $f$ and $g$ are radial functions, that commutes with the sum $T = T_{e^{ip\theta}r(2M+1)p} +T_{e^{is\theta}r(2N+1)s}$ . It is proved that $S = cT$, where $c$ is a constant. In this article, we shall replace $r^{(2M+1)p}$ and $r^{(2N+1)s}$ by $r^n$ and $r^d$ respectively, with $n$ and $d$ in $\mathbb{N}$, and we shall show that the same result holds.

Abstract:In this paper we prove that if S equals a finite sum of finite products of Toeplitz operators on the Bergman space of the unit disk, then S is compact if and only if the Berezin transform of S equals 0 on partial derivative D. This result is new even when S equals a single Toeplitz operator. Our main result can be used to prove, via a unified approach, several previously known results about compact Toeplitz operators, compact Hankel operators, and appropriate products of these operators.

In this paper, a CMO type space [Formula: see text] is introduced and studied. In particular, the relationship between [Formula: see text] and the Lipchitz space [Formula: see text] is discussed. Moreover, a necessary condition of restricted boundedness of the iterated commutator [Formula: see text] on weighted Lebesgue spaces via functions in [Formula: see text], and an equivalent characterization of the compactness for [Formula: see text] via functions in [Formula: see text] are obtained. Some results are new even in the unweighted setting for the first-order commutators.
