Abstract:In this paper, we discuss the rational maps F_λ (z) = z^n + λ /z^n ,n ⩾ 2 with the positive real parameter λ . It is shown that the immediately attracting basin B λ of ∞ for F λ is always a Jordan domain if the Julia set of F λ is not a Cantor set. Furthermore, B λ is a quasidisk if there is no parabolic fixed point on the boundary of B λ . It is also shown that if the Julia set of F λ is connected, then it is locally connected and all Fatou components are Jordan domains. Finally, a complete description to the problem when the Julia set is a Sierpiński curve is given.

Abstract:We study the quasisymmetric geometry of the Julia sets of McMullen maps fλ(z) = zm + λ/zℓ, where λ ∈ ℂ {0} and ℓ and m are positive integers satisfying 1/ℓ+1/m < 1. If the free critical points of fλ are escaped to the infinity, we prove that the Julia set Jλ of fλ is quasisymmetrically equivalent to either a standard Cantor set, a standard Cantor set of circles or a round Sierpiński carpet (which is also standard in some sense). If the free critical points are not escaped, we give a suffcient condition on λ such that Jλ is a Sierpiński carpet and prove that most of them are quasisymmetrically equivalent to some round carpets. In particular, there exist infinitely renormalizable rational maps whose Julia sets are quasisymmetrically equivalent to the round carpets.

Abstract:Considering the Potts model on diamond-like hierarchical lattices, in this paper, we show that the Julia sets of the singularities of the free energy may be a Feigenbaum Julia set. Furthermore, we prove that these Julia sets are locally connected if they are connected.

Abstract:Let $K$ be a finite extension of the field $\mathbb{Q}_p$ of $p$-adic numbers, and $\phi\in K(z)$ be a rational map of degree at least $2$. We prove that the $K$-Julia set of $\phi$ is the natural restriction of $\mathbb{C}_p$-Julia set, provided that the critical orbits are well-behaved. Moreover, under further assumption that $\phi$ is geometrically finite, we prove that the dynamics on the $K$-Julia set of $\phi$ is a countable state Markov shift.

Abstract:For a sequence (cn) of complex numbers, the quadratic polynomials fcn:= z2 + Cn and the sequence (Fn) of iterates Fn: = fcn ο ⋯ ο fc1 are considered. The Fatou set F(Cn) is defined as the set of all$z \in \hat {\mathbb{C}}: = {\mathbb{C}} \cup \left\{ \infty \right\}$ such that (Fn) is normal in some neighbourhood of z, while the complement J(Cn) of F(cn) (in$\hat {\mathbb{C}}$) is called the Julia set. The aim of this paper is to study the stability of the Julia set J(Cn) in the case where (cn) is bounded. A problem put forward by Brück is solved.

Abstract:We consider sequences of compositions of quadratic polynomials $f_{c_n} (z) = z^2 + c_n$. For such sequences one can naturally generalize the definitions of the Julia set and basin of infinity from the autonomous case. In this setting the Julia set depends on a sequence $\omega = (c_0, c_1, ...)$. We study the equilibrium (harmonic) measure on such Julia sets. In particular, we calculate the Hausdorff dimension of the equilibrium measure and study its dependence on the ''scale of randomness''.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove that for any post-critically finite rational map $f$ on the Riemann sphere $\overline{\mathbb{C}}$ and for each sufficiently large integer $n$, there exists a finite and connected graph $G$ in the Julia set of $f$, such that $f^n(G)\subset G$, $G$ contains all post-critical points in the Julia set and every component of $\overline{\mathbb{C}}\setminus G$ contains at most one post-critical point in the Fatou set. The proof is based on the cluster-\Sie\ decomposition of post-critically finite rational maps.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the dynamics of the following family of rational maps f(lambda) (z) = z(2n) - 3(n+1) z(n) (z(2n) - lambda(n-1)) with one parameter lambda is an element of C* -{lambda:lambda(2n+2) =1}, where n >= 2. This family of rational maps is viewed as a singular perturbation of the bi- critical map P-n (z) = z(-n) if lambda not equal 0 is small. It is proved that the Julia set J (f(lambda)) is either a quasicircle, a Cantor set of circles, a Sierpinski carpet or a degenerate Sierpinski carpet provided the free critical orbits of f(lambda) are attracted by the super-attracting cycle 0 <-> 1. Furthermore, we prove that there exists suitable lambda such that J (f(lambda)) is a Cantor set of circles but the dynamics of f(lambda) on J (f(lambda)) is not topologically conjugate to that of any known rational maps with only one or two free critical orbits (including McMullen maps and the generalized McMullen maps). The connectivity of J (f(lambda)) is also proved if the free critical orbits are not attracted by the cycle 0 $ 1. Finally we give an estimate of the Hausdor ff dimension of the Julia set of f(lambda) in some special cases.

Abstract:Pommerenke and Beardon [5, 12, 13] introduced and studied the uniformly perfect sets. Following Pommerenke, many authors have researched the topic, and many papers on the uniformly perfect sets have appeared in the literature. It was proved that the Julia sets of rational functions are uniformly perfect, see [8, 9, 11], and also [13]. However, unlike the case of rational functions, the Julia sets of a transcendental meromorphic function may not be uniformly perfect, see the example in Section 1. But, it is interesting to discuss when the Julia sets of transcendental meromorphic functions will be uniformly perfect. Zheng [17, 18, 19] studied uniformly perfect boundaries of stable domains in the iteration of meromorphic functions. In this paper, we shall study the Julia sets of functions from the class PM, which a is more general class of functions than meromorphic functions. We shall also prove that the Julia sets of the skew product associated with a finitely generated semigroup of rational functions, each generator having degree not less than 2, are uniformly perfect.
