Abstract:This article focuses on local and global existence and uniqueness for the strong solution to the Boussinesq system in R n ( n ≥ 3 ) with full viscosity in Besov spaces. Under the hypotheses 1 < p < ∞ and − min { n ∕ p , 2 − n ∕ p } < s ≤ n ∕ p , and the initial condition ( θ 0 , u 0 ) ∈ B ̇ p , 1 s − 1 × B ̇ p , 1 n ∕ p − 1 , the Boussinesq system is proved to have a unique local strong solution. Under the hypotheses n ≤ p < ∞ and − n ∕ p < s ≤ n ∕ p , or especially n ≤ p < 2 n and − n ∕ p < s < n ∕ p − 1 , and the initial condition ( θ 0 , u 0 ) ∈ ( B ̇ p , 1 s − 1 ∩ L n ∕ 3 ) × ( B ̇ p , 1 n ∕ p − 1 ∩ L n ) with sufficiently small norms ‖ θ 0 ‖ L n ∕ 3 and ‖ u 0 ‖ L n , the Boussinesq system is proved to have a unique global strong solution.

Abstract:In this paper, we study the partial regularity of the solutions for the three-dimensional Boussinesq equations. We first prove a criterion of local Hölder continuous of the suitable weak solutions of the Boussinesq equations, and show that one-dimensional Hausdorff measure of the singular point set is zero. Secondly, we present a local uniform gradient estimate on the suitable weak solutions and assert that the local behavior of the solution can be dominated by some scaled quantities, such as the scaled local L3-norm of the velocity. Besides, when the initial data v0 and θ0 decay sufficiently rapidly at ∞, the distribution of the regular point set of the suitable weak solutions is also considered. Based on it, one can find that MHD equations are more similar to Navier–Stokes equations than Boussinesq equations. Finally, we give a local regularity criterion of the suitable weak solutions near the boundary.

Abstract:Considered in this article is the Cauchy problem of a generalized Korteweg-de Vries equation $$\left\{\begin{array}{l}u_{t}+u_{xxx}+uu_{x}+|D_{x}|^{2\alpha }u=0,\quad t\in \R^{+},\, x\in \R,\\[1\eqnskip] u(x,0)=\varphi(x)\end{array}\right. $$ with $0\leq \alpha\le 1$. The local well-posedness of the Cauchy problem in the homogeneous Sobolev space $\dot{H}^s(\R)$ for $s\in (\frac{\alpha-3}{2(2-\alpha)}, 0]$ is proved. In addition, the mapping that associated to appropriate initial-data the corresponding solution is analytic as a function between appropriate Banach spaces.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the global well-posedness for the 3D Boussinesq equations. Firstly, we prove the global existence and uniqueness of the solution in critical space for small initial data. Then, aimed at the large initial data giving rise to global solution, we obtain a certain class of large solutions with initial data slowly varying in one direction. The proof relies on the special structure of the equation and some new refined estimates for the velocity and temperature.

The existence and uniqueness of low reguality solution to the initial-boundary-value problem is proved when the initial-boundary data ( f, h, h 1 , h 2 ) belong to the product space H^s ( ℝ^ + ) × H^s - 1( ℝ^ + ) × H^s2 + 14( ℝ^ + ) × H^s2 + 14( ℝ^ + ) with 0 ⩽ s ⩽12 . The analyticity of the solution mapping between the initial-boundary-data and the solution space is also considered.

Abstract:It is proven that if the leftmost eigenvalue is weakly linearly degenerate, then the Cauchy problem for a class of nonhomogeneous quasilinear hyperbolic systems with small and decaying initial data given on a semi-bounded axis admits a unique global C1 solution on the domain {(t,x)|t⩾0,x⩾xn(t)}, where x=xn(t) is the fastest forward characteristic emanating from the origin. As an application of our result, we prove the existence of global classical, C1 solutions of the flow equations of a model class of fluids with viscosity induced by fading memory with small smooth initial data given on a semi-bounded axis.

Abstract:In this paper, we address the existence of global solutions to the Cauchy problem for the integrable nonlocal modified Korteweg-de vries (nonlocal mKdV) equation with the initial data $u_0 \in H^{3}(\mathbb{R}) \cap H^{1,1}(\mathbb{R}) $ with the $L^1(\mathbb{R})$ small-norm assumption. A Lipschitz $L^2$-bijection map between potential and reflection coefficient is established by using inverse scattering method based on a Riemann-Hilbert problem associated with the Cauchy problem. The map from initial potential to reflection coefficient is obtained in direct scattering transform. The inverse scattering transform goes back to the map from scattering coefficient to potential by applying the reconstruction formula and Cauchy integral operator. The bijective relation naturally yields the existence of a global solutions in a Sobolev space $H^3(\mathbb{R})\cap H^{1,1}(\mathbb{R})$ to the Cauchy problem.

Abstract:This paper investigates the properties of nonnegative solutions of a quasilinear degenerate parabolic system {ut−div(|∇u|p−2∇u)=a∫Ωvα(x,t)dx,vt−div(|∇v|q−2∇v)=b∫Ωuβ(x,t)dx with zero Dirichlet boundary conditions in a smooth bounded domain Ω⊂RN(N≥1), where p,q>2, α,β≥1, and a,b>0 are positive constants. Under appropriate hypotheses, we first establish the local existence and uniqueness of solutions, then we show that whether or not the solution blows up in finite time depends on the initial data and the relations between αβ and (p−1)(q−1). In the special case of α=q−1 and β=p−1, we conclude that the solution exists globally if ∫Ωϕp−1dx∫Ωψq−1dx≤1/(ab), while if ∫Ωϕp−1dx∫Ωψq−1dx>1/(ab) then the solution blows up in finite time. Here ϕ(x) and ψ(x) denote the unique solution of the following elliptic problem −div(|∇ϕ|p−2∇ϕ)=1 in Ω, ϕ(x)|∂Ω=0 and −div(|∇ψ|q−2∇ψ)=1 in Ω, ψ(x)|∂Ω=0, respectively.

Abstract:For the Cauchy problem with a kind of non-smooth initial data for weakly linearly degenerate hyperbolic systems of conservation laws with the linear damping term, we prove the existence and uniqueness of global weakly discontinuous solution u = u(t, x) containing only n weak discontinuities with small amplitude on t ≥ 0, and this solution possesses a global structure similar to that of the similarity solution $u = U(\frac{x}{t})$ of the corresponding homogeneous Riemann problem. As an application of our result, we obtain the existence and uniqueness of global weakly discontinuous solution, continuous and piecewise C 1 solution with discontinuous first order derivatives, of the flow equations of a model class of fluids with viscosity induced by fading memory.
