Abstract:From 2001 to 2006, about one-third of the residents aged 5–65 years were selected as the subjects in a schistosome-endemic village located in Jiangxi Province, China. Every 1 year, all participants were analyzed by the Kato–Katz parasitologic examination and indirect hemagglutination assay (IHA). Statistical analysis of the results showed the k indices ranged from 0.250 to 0.347 between the two methods. Assuming the Kato–Katz results as the gold standard reference, the specificity of the IHA was from 60% to 77%, the positive predictive value of this method was from 19% to 30%, and its sensitivity and negative predictive value were more than 97%. The IHA method is unsuitable for individual screening in endemic community with relatively high prevalence (e.g. with >10% or more prevalence). A search for a better diagnostic test that can be applied in field situations in China is essential and should be given high priority.
Evaluation of screening effects of ELISA and IHA techniques in different epidemic areas of schistosomiasis

Abstract:Objective To evaluate and compare the screening effects of ELISA and IHA techniques in different epidemic areas of schistosomiasis japanica. Methods Four villages,with different epidemicity of schistosomiasis,were selected as fields, of which every subject was examined with kato-katz, ELISA and IHA techniques simultaneously. Results The sensitivity and specificity of ELISA and IHA were very high (ELISA: 94.87%, 95.74%; IHA:89.74%,100%) . But the field-based detection indicated that the specificity of two serological techniques was relatively low (ELISA:43.21%~92.17%;IHA:67.56%～91.55%), and the PPV were remarkly low as well(ELISA:3.1%~18.6%;IHA:2.9%~15.8%). The result of the parallel detection showed that the detection values between ELISA and IHA were significantly correlating(r=0.767,P<0.01), but the corresponding OD (optical density) value of the threshold value of IHA (1:10), about 0.124~0.308, was higher than the threshold of ELISA (0.105). The positive predictive value (PPV) as well as positive rate of IHA was significantly higher than ones of ELISA in the higher endemicity villages, and no significant difference with ELISA in the lower endemicity villages. Conclusion In an endemic area of schistosomiasis, the screening effects of IHA relatively outweigh ELISA, but there was a common drawback for two serological techniques, that is, the PPV were quite low in field investigation.

Abstract:BACKGROUND: Appropriate diagnostics to monitor disease trends and assess the effectiveness and impact of interventions are essential for guiding treatment strategies at different thresholds of schistosomiasis transmission and for certifying elimination. Field validation of these assays is urgently needed before they can be adopted to support policy decisions of the national programme for control and elimination of schistosomiasis in P.R. China. We compared the efficacy and utility of different immunoassays in guiding control strategies and monitoring the endemic status of S. japonicum infections towards elimination. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS: A cross-sectional survey was conducted in seven villages with different transmission intensities settings to assess the performance and utility of three immunoassays, e.g., an indirect hemagglutination assay (IHA_JX), an enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA_SZ), and a dot immunogold filtration assay (DIGFA_SH). 6,248 individuals aged 6-65 years old who gave consent and supplied their stool and blood samples were included for data analysis. Results showed that ELISA_SZ performed significantly higher sensitivity (95.45%, 95%CI: 92.94-97.97%) than IHA_JX (87.59%, 95%CI: 83.51-91.49%) and DIGFA_SH (79.55%, 95%CI: 74.68-84.41%), especially in subgroups with very low infection intensity. The specificity of ELISA_SZ, IHA_JX, DIGFA_SH in 6-9 year olds with occasional exposure was nearly 90%. DIGFA_SH performed the highest screening efficacy for patients among three assays with overall positive predicative value of 13.07% (95%CI: 11.42-14.72%). We found a positive correlation of antibody positive rate of IHA_JX with results of stool examination in age strata (r = 0.70, P<0.001). Seropositivity of IHA_JX in children aged 6-9 years old showed an excellent correlation with prevalence of schistosome infection in the seven communities (r = 0.77, P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS/SIGNIFICANCE: Studies suggest that ELISA_SZ could be used to guide selective chemotherapy in moderate or low endemic regions. IHA_JX could be used to as a surveillance tool and for certifying elimination of schistosomiasis through monitoring children as a sentinel population.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To seek a rapid, simple, but effective inquiry method for screening high risk population challenged by schistosomiasis.METHODS:Two embankment collapsed villages were selected in schistosomiasis epidemic area in Dongting Lake. Information on water exposure was collected through a retrospective study. Data was analyzed by stepwise discriminant analysis.RESULTS:A Fisher's function was established by stepwise discriminant analysis which including 5 variables out of 18. Two hundred and forty-six individuals were discriminated by the function with accuracy, sensitivity and specificity of predicting their current infection status with the results of 87.4%, 84.1% and 89.0% respectively.CONCLUSION:The inquiry method might serve as simple, rapid, economic and effective tool for diagnosis in screening high risk population challenged by schistosomiasis in lake communities.
Field Evaluation of a Rapid, Visually-Read Colloidal Dye Immunofiltration Assay for Schistosoma Japonicum for Screening in Areas of Low Transmission.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To determine the validity of a recently developed rapid test--a colloidal dye immunofiltration assay (CDIFA)--used by health workers in field settings to identify villagers infected with Schistosoma japonicum.METHODS:Health workers in the field used CDIFA to test samples from 1553 villagers in two areas of low endemicity and an area where S. japonicum was not endemic in Anhui, China. All the samples were then tested in the laboratory by laboratory staff using a standard parasitological method (Kato-Katz), an indirect haemagglutination assay (IHA), and CDIFA. The results of CDIFA performed by health workers were compared with those obtained by Kato-Katz and IHA.FINDINGS:Concordance between the results of CDIFA performed in field settings and in the laboratory was high (kappa index, 0.95; 95% confidence interval, 0.93-0.97). When Kato-Katz was used as the reference test, the overall sensitivity and specificity of CDIFA were 98.5% and 83.6%, respectively in the two villages in areas of low endemicity, while the specificity was 99.8% in the nonendemic village. Compared with IHA, the overall specificity and sensitivity of CDIFA were greater than 99% and 96%, respectively. With the combination of Kato-Katz and IHA as the reference standard, CDIFA had a sensitivity of 95.8% and a specificity of 99.5%, and an accuracy of 98.6% in the two areas of low endemicity.CONCLUSION:CDIFA is a specific, sensitive, and reliable test that can be used for rapid screening for schistosomiasis by health workers in field settings.
Monitoring the Transmission of Schistosoma Japonicum in Potential Risk Regions of China, 2008 – 2012

Abstract:Schistosomiasis japonica, caused by Schistosoma japonicum infection, remains a major public health concern in China, and the geographical distribution of this neglected tropical disease is limited to regions where Oncomelania hupensis, the intermediate host of the causative parasite, is detected. The purpose of this study was to monitor the transmission of S. japonicum in potential risk regions of China during the period from 2008 through 2012. To monitor the transmission, 10 fixed surveillance sites and 30 mobile sentinel sites were selected in 10 counties of four provinces, namely Anhui, Jiangsu, Chongqing and Hubei. There were 8, 9, 6, 2 and 3 cases infected with S. japonicum detected in the 30 mobile sentinel sites during the 5-year study period, while 27 subjects were positive for the antibody-based serum test in the 10 fixed sentinel sites; however, no infection was found. In addition, neither local nor imported livestock were found to be infected. No O. hupensis snails were detected in either the fixed surveillance or the mobile sentinel sites; however, the snail host was found to survive and reproduce at Chaohu Lake, inferring the potential of transmission of the disease. It is suggested that the continuous surveillance of schistosomiasis japonica should be carried out in both the endemic foci and potential risk regions of China, and an active, sensitive system to respond the potential risk of transmission seems justified.
Investigation on Schistosoma japonicum infection of mobile population in Shanghai City

Abstract:Objective To understand the current status of potential Schistosoma japonicum infection of mobile population in Shanghai. Methods The study was carried out in 6 townships of two districts, Minhang and Pudong, in Shanghai, both by questionnaire survey and serum tests, in mobile population who came from other provinces. At the same time, the survey was performed in local populations as the control group. Results The serum positive rate was 6.41% in 2931 examined mobile population, and serum positive rates were 8.10%, 3.65% and 2.40% in mobile population who came from provinces where transmission of schistosomiasis on-going, interrupted and non-transmitted areas, respectively. The serum positive rate of local residents in Shanghai was 3.56%, which was not significantly different from that of mobile population who came from provinces where transmission interrupted or non-transmission areas, and was significantly lower than that where transmission on-going. The positives of serum tests in mobile population were mainly distributed in the age group of 10-49 years, with education at primary and middle school level, and less than 5 years being in Shanghai. Conclusions The mobile population from provinces where transmission of schistosomiasis is still going on is a potential infectious source to the region where transmission of schistosomiasis has been interrupted. It is essential to strengthen the schistosomiasis surveillance on mobile population that came from other provinces, in order to prevent from introduction of infectious sources of schistosomiasis.
Study on Assessing System for Endemicity of Schistosomiasis

Abstract:OBJECTIVETo establish a scientific, objective and operational assessing system for schistosomiasis endemicity, so as to provide a scientific evidence for revising the current Criteria for Control and Elimination of Schistosomiasis in China (GB 15976-2006).METHODSA questionnaire was designed based on reference review and 20 scientists working in the field of schistosomiasis control, research or management were investigated by using the Delphi method. The importance of each index reflecting the endemicity of schistosomiasis was scored by each scientist. The assessing system for endemicity of schistosomiasis was established and the normalized weight and combined weight were calculated.RESULTSThe assessing system included three indices in the first grade and seven indices in the second grade. Among the indices in the first grade, the normalized weights of infection status of human beings, infection status of livestock, and Oncomelania snail's status were 0.360 2, 0.335 2, and 0.304 6, respectively. Among the indices in the second grade, the prevalence of livestock showed the highest combined weight of 0.335 2 while the infection rate of snails showed the lowest score of 0.093 3.CONCLUSIONSThe indexes of the assessing system for the endemicity of schistosomiasis established are reasonable, comprehensive, and authoritative, which provide the scientific evidence for revising the currently available Criteria for Control and Elimination of Schistosomiasis in China.

Abstract:Abstract Worldwide schistosomiasis continues to be a serious public health problem. Over the past five decades, China has made remarkable progress in reducing Schistosoma japonicum infections in humans to a relatively low level. Endemic regions are currently circumscribed in certain core areas where re-infection and repeated chemotherapy are frequent. At present, selective chemotherapy with praziquantel is one of the main strategies in China's National Schistosomiasis Control Program, and thus diagnosis of infected individuals is a key step for such control. In this paper we review the current status of our knowledge about diagnostic tools for schistosomiasis japonica. A simple, affordable, sensitive, and specific assay for field diagnosis of schistosomiasis japonica is not yet available, and this poses great barriers towards full control of schistosomiasis. Hence, a search for a diagnostic approach, which delivers these characteristics, is essential and should be given high priority.
[Effectiveness of Routinely Used Assays for the Diagnosis of Schistosomiasis Japonica in the Field].

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the effectiveness of routinely used assays for schistosomiasis diagnosis in the field.METHODS:From late November to early December 2005, 6-65 years old inhabitants from 3 endemic villages were examined by Kato-Katz technique (3 thick smears) and nylon bag sedimentation/hatching method. At the same time, dipstick dye immunoassay(DDIA), fast enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (F-ELISA), indirect haemagglutination test A (IHA-A) and B ( IHA-B) were carried out in parallelRESULTS:1864 people were examined by stool examination with an average positive rate of 9.7%. The missing rate of DDIA was relatively stable in medium and heavily endemic areas of schistosomiasis. The missing rate of nylon bag sedimentation/hatching method was 25% and relatively stable when the number of eggs per gram of feces(EPG) was larger than 100. The average positive rate of DDIA, F-ELISA, IHA-A and IHA-B was 47.8%, 50.0%, 66.3% and 40.1% respectively. Using stool examination as the gold standard, the sensitivity of DDIA, F-ELISA, IHA-A and IHA-B was 75.3%, 65.8%, 85.6% and 76.0%; and the specificity was 55.1%, 51.7%, 35.7% and 63.6%, respectively. Among the four sero-diagnostics, the specificity, Youden index, positive likelihood rate and coincidence of IHA-B were the highest.CONCLUSION:Kato-Katz method is more stable and effective than nylon bag sedimentation/hatching method in medium and heavily endemic areas of schistosomiasis japonica. The sensitivity and specificity of these four diagnosis kits are lower than 90%.
Spatial-temporal variations of Schistosoma japonicum distribution after an integrated national control strategy: a cohort in a marshland area of China

Abstract:Background Schistosomiasis transmission is typically focal. Understanding spatial variations of Schistosoma infections and their associated factors is important to help to invent site-specific intervention strategies. Methods A five-year longitudinal study was carried out prospectively in 12 natural villages, Guichi district of Anhui province. A GIS-based spatial analysis was conducted to identify geographic distribution patterns of schistosomiasis infections at the household scale. Results The results of the spatial autocorrelation analysis for 2005 showed that there were significant spatial clusters of human infections at the household level, and these results were in agreement with that of the spatial scan statistic. As prevalence of infections in humans decreased over the course of control, the spatial distribution of these infections became less heterogeneous. Conclusions The findings imply that it may be necessary to re-assess risk factors of S. japonicum transmission over the course of control and to adjust accordingly control measures in the communities.
[Risk Evaluation of Schistosomiasis Japonica in Potential Endemic Areas in China].

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To analyze the impact of large hydraulic projects on schistosomiasis transmission and evaluate the transmission risk in potential endemic areas.METHODS:During 2008-2010, surveillance on risk factors related to schistosomiasis transmission and risk assessment were carried out in potential endemic sites in counties of Xuyu, Hongze, Jinhu, and Gaoyou in Jiangsu Province, Weishan County in Shangdong, Qianjiang City and Yiling District of Yichang City in Hubei, Juchao District of Chaohu City in Anhui Province, Wanzhou and Kaixian in Chongqing in Three Gorges Dam region or passed by South-to-North Water Diversion Project and Zhangjiagang City in Jiangsu Province located in lower reach of Yangtze River. At least one fixed and three temporary monitoring sites were set in each county (city or district). Local inhabitants aged 6-65 years old were screened by indirect haemagglutination assay (IHA) or ELISA, and the sero-positives were tested by Kato-Katz or miracidium hatching techniques to investigate possible infection in 2008. The endemic status of schistosomiasis in mobile population was surveyed every year during 2008-2010. Infection status in livestocks was surveyed in Juchao, Qianjiang, Gaoyou and Wanzhou Counties in 2008-2010. Oncomelania hupensis distribution was investigated in risky and suspicious areas. Snail spreading investigation was conducted through salvaging floater and snails-inducing by straw curtains in rivers connected with Yangtze River.RESULTS:8 256 local inhabitants were investigated by serological tests with a positive rate of 0.7% (60/8 256). Among the 60 serologically positive subjects, 55 individuals were examined by stool examination but none of them was egg positive. The antibody prevalence rate of migrating population in 2008-2010 was 2.0%, 1.4%, and 1.7%, respectively, with no significant difference (chi2 = 3.57, P > 0.05). Among the serologically positive subjects, egg-positive cases were found in migrating population in Juchao District each year and one case was found in Jinhu County in 2010. Oncomelania snails were only found in in Jinhu and Gaoyou without infected ones. A lot of aquatic shell-fish and snails were collected in the water floater and straw curtain without Oncomelania snails.CONCLUSION:Schistosomiasis is not endemic in the original nonendemic areas in Three Gorges Dam region and areas passed by South-to-North Water Diversion Project until now, but potential risk of transmission exists. Long term surveillance scheme on schistosomiasis should be established with varied monitoring factors in different category areas.
[Investigation on Endemic Situation of Schistosomiasis in Infection-Controlled Regions in Anhui Province].

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To understand the epidemic situation of schistosomiasis in 27 counties (cities, districts) that reached the criteria of schistosomiasis infection controlled in Anhui Province.METHODS:According to the requirement of The National Assessment Scheme of Schistosomiasis, 81 administrative villages where the schistosomiasis epidemic situation was relatively heaver in above-mentioned 27 counties (1 village per town, 3 towns per county) were sampled and investigated.RESULTS:From 2012 to 2014, 81 villages were investigated, and 34,293 residents received the serum examinations, and 1,086 were positive with a positive rate of 3.17% (0.65%-9.58%), and the positives received stool examinations and the average stool positive rate was 0.37% (0-4.0%). The calculated prevalence of human infection was 0.01%. A total of 3 057 domestic animals were investigated including 438 cattle, 2,550 sheep, and 69 other animals, and no infections were detected. A total of 11,261 living Oncomelania hupensis snails were collected and detected, but no schistosome infected snails were found. Before this investigation, no infected snails were detected for more than 2 years [average 2.3 (2-6) years], and no acute schistosome infection cases were found for more than 2 years [average 4.9 (2-9) years].CONCLUSION:The infection rates of schistosomiasis in residents and domestic animals are relatively low, and no schistosome infected snails are found in the regions.

Abstract:Over the several decades, China has been incessantly optimizing control strategies in response to the varying epidemic situations of schistosomiasis. We evaluated continuously the changing prevalence under different control strategies of two villages, Sanlian and Guifan, in China through five phases lasting 37 years. We tested residents, calculated prevalence and discussed change causes. We found the prevalence in Sanlian did not differ significant from that of Guifan (p = 0.18) in 1981, but decreased to 2.66%, much lower than Guifan's 11.25%, in 1984 (p = 0). Besides, prevalence in Guifan increased to 21.25% in 1987, while in Sanlian it rose to 20.78% until 1989. Those data confirmed that praziquantel combined with snail control could better reduce the prevalence. From 1992 to 1994, the prevalence in the two villages displayed downtrends, which showed the World Bank Loan Project worked. From 1995 to 2004, repeated oscillations with no obvious change trend was seen. Since 2005, the prevalence in both villages has shown a significant downtrend (p < 0.05), which suggests the integrated strategy is effective. We considered the control strategies were implemented suitably in the study area under changing social circumstances. Adjusting the strategy in consideration of social transformations is necessary and vital. The experience may be useful for policy making of other epidemic areas with an analogous situation.
The validity of haematuria in the community diagnosis of urinary schistosomiasis infections

Abstract:The validity and reliability of haematuria when used as screening criteria in community diagnosis of urinary schistosomiasis is presented. Between May and July, 1998, 1173 persons were screened for haematuria and examined for the presence of eggs of Schistosoma haematobium in their urine from all participating households in the Ozitem area of Bende Local Government Area, Abia State, Nigeria. Haematuria showed a sensitivity rate of 41.0% and specificity of 82.0% when used to identify cases of urinary schistosomiasis. Some factors that influenced the validity of haematuria as a diagnostic criterion are discussed. The use of haematuria amongst subjects in the first twenty years of their life is recommended.

Abstract:In this study,we summarized the results from the retrospective investigation on endemic situation of schistosomia-sis that was implemented in nine provinces(autonomous region),China in 2009,demonstrated the role of these retrospective in-vestigations in accelerating the progress of schistosomiasis control in China,and clarified the great significance of the investiga-tion for summarizing the experiences for the control of schistosomiasis,and analyzing the changing patterns and affecting factors of endemic status of schistosomiasis in China. In addition,these retrospective investigations provide reliable evidence for revis-ing the Criteria of Schistosomiasis Control and Elimination,and for the more accurate and scientific assessment of the effec-tiveness of schistosomiasis control in China.

Abstract:To investigate the morbidity of residents in a highly endemic village of schistosomiasis, and to evaluate the usefulness of ultrasound in morbidity study.Morbidity induced by Schistosoma japonicum was evaluated and compared in target population by using parasitological examination, ultrasound investigation and medical history questionnaire.The schistosome infection rate was 22.9% in the study population and the prevalence of abnormal ultrasound findings in the liver and spleen was high. The abnormal ultrasound findings correlated with sex significantly, the abnormality of liver parenchyma correlated with age, sex, infection status, occupation and the number of treatment after multiple logistic regression analysis.The ultrasound examination could find out the direct pathological changes resulting from schistosome infection.

Abstract:Schistosomiasis japonica remains endemic in several provinces south of the Yangtze River in China because of relatively sparse populations of human beings and dense populations of snails. We studied two brigades in a rural commune in Gui-chi County, Anhui Province, to determine the prevalence, intensity, and morbidity associated with this infection before concerted control efforts were instituted. Quantitative fecal examinations, histories, and physical examinations relevant to schistosomiasis japonica were performed in 96 per cent of the available population 2 to 65 years of age. The prevalence was 26.3 per cent in Brigade A (778 persons) and 14.4 per cent in Brigade B (1532 persons). Clinical symptoms and signs were compared among uninfected persons and persons at three levels of infection as determined by fecal egg output. Some increased weakness was seen only at the heaviest levels of infection; abdominal pain was not an important symptom. Hepatomegaly was somewhat more frequent in moderate and heavy infections, but splenomegaly was rare and unrelated to intensity of infection. Neither stool consistency nor occult blood was related to the presence or intensity of infection. Approximately 50 per cent of the population had been treated for schistosomiasis japonica, 25 per cent repeatedly.
National Surveillance of Schistosomiasis in China from 2000 to 2004

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To specify the trends of endemic situation among twenty one national surveillance sites for schistosomiasis from 2000 to 2004.METHODS:According to the national surveillance protocol, longitudinal surveillance on endemic situation of schistosomiasis was carried out at twenty-one sites since 2000.RESULTS:The infection rate of Schistosoma japonicum declined in six of the twenty-one surveillance sites. The density of living snails and of infected snails decreased in two sites but not well controlled in most other sites. The prevalence in cattle fluctuated yearly in most sites and maintained at a relatively high level. During the surveillance period, acute cases were found annually and the number of advanced patients did not increase significantly. No new case and infected snails were found in Jinshan, Shanghai, since 2000, where transmission of schistosomiasis was interrupted two decades ago.CONCLUSION:Routine control strategies such as selective chemotherapy combined with livestock chemotherapy, snail control in risk areas have a positive impact on the control of schistosomiasis. However, these strategies should be lasted for longer time and the surveillance on snails and cattle should be continued.

Abstract:OBJECTIVE:To establish the measures of schistosomiasis field survey and evaluate the efficacy of their application according to the content of indexes of rapid assessment system to high transmission risks in schistosomiasis endemic areas of lake regions. METHODS:In 2012, based on the analysis of Oncomelania hupensis snail situation, and schistosomiasis epidemic data of human and cattle from 2008-2010, 60 villages from Hunan, Hubei, Jiangxi and Anhui provinces were selected and investigated, and the content of the investigation included the field feces, snail status, and epidemic situation of human and cattle. The systemic sampling was applied for snail investigation; the feces collected from snail investigation field were examined by the hatching test (3 bottles for 1 sample). A cluster random sampling was carried out with more than 300 people in each village. By using the hatching test (3 bottles for 1 sample) , the human stool examination was carried out for the identification of the infected persons who were positive in the immunity test screening. The hatching test was applied for cattle of all the villages (3 bottles for 1 sample). RESULTS:A total of 65 field feces spots were surveyed in 60 villages, field feces were found in 78.46% (51/65) of spots, and the positive rate of field feces was 1.07% (9/842). There were 73.33% (44,160)of villages with cattle, and the largest amount cattle with 329 was found in Wufeng Village, Jiangxi Province. The cattle infection rate was 1.5 1% (4,913,242) in 3242 investigated cattle. The highest cattle infection rate was 4% in Tongxin Village, Jiangxi Province. The population of 47 099 was surveyed, the infection rate was 0.77% (364/47 099), and the highest was 4.37% in Xumuchang Village, Hunan Province. The infection rate was 0 in 43.33% (26/60) of villages. No acute schistosomiasis cases were reported in all the villages in 2011 and 2012. Totally, 77 snail spots in 60 villages were investigated, and 51 spots were marshland and 26 spots were ditches. The schistosome-infected snails were detected in 5.88% (3/51 )of the marshland spots and the living snails were found in 80.39%(41/51) of the spots. The highest density of living snails was 3.20/0.1 m2 in Xumuchang Village, Hunan Province. The average density of infected snails was 0.00045/0.1 m2 (4/8942). The infected snail spots were distributed in Liujiadi Village and Liuhe Village of Hubei Province, and Jiangkou Village of Anhui Province. No infected snails were detected in 26 ditches spots. The living snails were detected in 53.85% (14/26) of the ditches spots. The highest average density of living snails was 3.76/0.1 m2 in Huakou Village, Hubei Province. CONCLUSIONS:The measures of field survey for rapid assessment system of high transmission risks in schistosomiasis endemic areas of lake regions are established and applied with scientific, impersonal and rapid characteristics.
