Abstract:The 20th century saw a trend of convergence in China's publishing industry where old and new cultures intersected,especially with the backdrop of China's New Culture Movement.Zhen Zhenduo,a scholarly publisher with ideals of social action,promoted the joint development of China's publishing industry,academia and education by unifying the supply of publishing industry with the orientation of demand from the other two fields.In an effort to uniform and systemize the publishing industry,Zhen emphasized the correlation between various cultural factors and fields,revealing the practical significance of knowledge sharing and exchange.He engaged himself in selecting the essence from Chinese literary inheritance,handing down the core values in traditional Chinese culture.Throughout his life,Zhen's publishing activities were closely related to his personal reading and book collection experience.A notable figure of great learning in a variety of disciplines,Zhen's academic attainment enabled his outstanding performance in many fields of mass media,and,at the same time,profoundly shaped his strategy as a publisher.
