Abstract:Swap operation based on a two-qubit Heisenberg XXZ model under a uniform magnetic field in arbitrary direction and magnitude is investigated. It is shown that swap gate can be implemented on some conditions and its feasibility is established.

Abstract:We study the two qubits Heisenberg XX chain with magnetic impurity in the presence of the external magnetic field and calculate the optimal fidelity of standard teleportation via the thermal equilibrium state. It is found that the combined influence of magnetic impurity and external magnetic field can increase the critical temperatures of entanglement and quantum teleportation without limit. The relation between two kinds of critical temperatures is revealed.

Abstract:Spin polarized transport was studied by employing non-equilibrium Green function method, for a model of quantum dot (QD) embedded in a mesoscopic Aharonov–Bohm (AB) ring with magnetic field applied on QD. In comparison with the situation without magnetic field on QD, the average spin occupations separate with the increase in applied magnetic field on QD; in addition, magnetic field on QD has profound effect on the density of states for different spins in QD; on the other hand, the amplitude and phase of transmission for up spin and down spin were found to present novel effects, such as, the additional peak in the phase of transmission. To understand the spin transport in the system of QD coupled to AB ring, the effects of the two magnetic fields imposed on the QD and penetrating the AB ring should be considered.
Spin Swapping for an Exchange Magnon Spin Current

Abstract:We propose the spin swapping effect for an exchange magnon spin current in a perpendicularly magnetized ferromagnetic medium with in plane anisotropy on the surface. The excitation of a magnon current flowing along an in-plane direction with an out-of-plane spin polarization leads to the generation of a secondary exchange spin current propagating along the out-of-plane direction, characterized by an in-plane spin polarization. The resulting exchange magnon spin current can induce an inverse spin Hall voltage of micro-volts. The exchange coupling at the interface between regions with different magnetic anisotropies plays a crucial role in generating the spin swapping effect. This is in contrast to the recently reported spin swapping for an exchange spin current in a canted antiferromagnet due to the Dzyaloshiskii-Moriya interaction.

Abstract:We study the bipartite entanglement dynamics in an anisotropic two-qubit Heisenberg XYZ model under the influence of population relaxation and in the presence of various types of magnetic fields. We find that the maximal value of the concurrence has an intrinsic rigidity for the different external magnetic fields. Moreover, our results demonstrate that it is possible to produce entangled states and to control or to modulate the concurrence within the intrinsic maximal value with the help of external time-varying fields despite the existence of dissipation.

Abstract:For a three-qubit Heisenberg model in a uniform magnetic field, the pairwise thermal entanglement of any two sites is identical due to the exchange symmetry of sites. In this paper we consider the effect of a non-uniform magnetic field on the Heisenberg model, modelling a magnetic impurity on one site. Since pairwise entanglement is calculated by tracing out one of the three sites, the entanglement clearly depends on which site the impurity is located. When the impurity is located on the site which is traced out, that is, when it acts as an external field of the pair, the entanglement can be enhanced to the maximal value 1; while when the field acts on a site of the pair the corresponding concurrence can only be increased from 1/3 to 2/3.

Abstract:By the infinite time-evolving block decimation (iTEBD) technique, the magnetization process and the quantum phase transitions (QPTs) in the spin-1 XXZ model with single-ion anisotropy under external field are investigated. It is found that, all the phases will be destroyed by a sufficient strong magnetic field. Before they come into the ferromagnetic (fully polarized) phase, some interesting intermediate phases are induced. A pseudo order Oixy=〈Six〉2+〈Siy〉2 with finite truncation dimension χ can be used to describe the XY1 phase. Especially, the Oxyi with finite χ is found to be nonzero in the XY1 phase, but vanishes in the XY2 phase. It means that two kinds of XY phases can be distinguished by the pseudo order parameter Oxyi. All the QPTs can be described by the behavior of the entanglement entropy and the ground-state energy. QPTs from the XY phase to the large-D, Haldane, and antiferromagnetic phases are found to be infinite-order BKT type transitions, but the QPTs from the XY1 phase to the ferromagnetic phase and XY2 have second-order characters. In addition, doubly degenerate entanglement spectra are observed in the Haldane phase.

Abstract:We study the effect of an external magnetic field on magnetic long-range order (MLRO) in the global ground states of the quantum XY model and the isotropic Heisenberg model on the simple cubic lattices. We shall rigorously prove that, while an external magnetic field (staggered in the antiferromagnetic case) which favours MLRO in a specific spin direction, say the x-direction, is turned on, it completely suppresses the MLRO in the perpendicular spin directions in the global ground states of these models.

Abstract:In this study, a spin-1/2 extended anisotropic XY chain has been introduced in which both time reversal and SU(2) symmetries are broken but $Z_2$ symmetry is preserved. Magnetic and topological phase diagrams in the parameter space have been drawn in the presence of transverse magnetic field. Entanglement measures like mutual information and quantum discord are also evaluated and it indicates that these transitions are second order in nature. Quantum phase transition is noted at zero magnetic field, as well as magnetic long range order is found to withstand magnetic field of any strength. Exact analytic results for spin-spin correlation functions have been obtained in terms of Jordan Wigner fermionization. Existence of long range magnetic order has been investigated numerically by finding correlation functions as well as the Binder cumulant in the ground state. Dispersion relation, ground state energy, and energy gap are obtained analytically. In order to find the topologically nontrivial phase, sign of Pfaffian invariant and value of winding number have been evaluated. Both magnetic and topological phases are robust against the magnetic field and found to move coercively in the parameter space with the variation of its strength. Long range orders along two orthogonal directions and two different topological phases are found and their one-to-one correspondence has been found. Finally casting the spinless fermions onto Majorana fermions, properties of zero energy edge states are studied. Three different kinds of Majorana pairings are noted. In the trivial phase, next-nearest-neighbor Majorana pairing is found, whereas two different types of nearest-neighbor Majorana pairings are identified in the topological superconducting phase.

Abstract:Taking the intrinsic decoherence effect into account, this paper investigates the entanglement of a two-qubit anisotropic Heisenberg XYZ model in the presence of nonuniform external magnetic fields by employing the concurrence as entanglement measure. It is found that both the intrinsic decoherence and the anisotropy of the system give a significant suppression to the entanglement. Moreover it finds that the initial state of the system plays an important role in the time evolution of the entanglement, which means that the entanglement of the system is independent of the nonuniformity and uniformity of the magnetic field when the system is in the initial state |(0)ψ = |00〉 and | ψ' (0)〉 = m |01〉 + n |10〉, respectively.

Abstract:We study the interplay of electric and magnetic order in the one dimensional Heisenberg spin-1/2 XXZ chain with large Ising anisotropy in the presence of the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya (D-M) interaction and with longitudinal and transverse magnetic fields, interpreting the D-M interaction as a coupling between the local electric polarization and an external electric field. We obtain the ground state phase diagram using the density matrix renormalization group method and compute various ground state quantities like the magnetization, staggered magnetization, electric polarization and spin correlation functions, etc. In the presence of both longitudinal and transverse magnetic fields, there are three different phases corresponding to a gapped Néel phase with antiferromagnetic (AF) order, gapped saturated phase and a critical incommensurate gapless phase. The external electric field modifies the phase boundaries but does not lead to any new phases. Both external magnetic fields and electric fields can be used to tune between the phases. We also show that the transverse magnetic field induces a vector chiral order in the Néel phase (even in the absence of an electric field) which can be interpreted as an electric polarization in a direction parallel to the AF order.

Abstract:We study the ground state entanglement in a three-qubit XY chain under the influence of a magnetization current. It is found that the ground state changes from a W state to a disentangled state as the magnetic field varies. When the Lagrange multiplier lambda > root 3, namely under a strong magnetic current, the ground state holds onto a W state for a large range of the magnetic field strength. A phase transition to the magnetization-current phase occurs under a certain condition.

To mimic real materials, we consider a system of coupled, antiferromagnetic chains, whose interchain interaction can be either ferro- or antiferromagnetic. When the staggered field is commensurate with the magnetic interactions, an energy gap opens immediately and follows a power law as a function of the applied field, similar to the situation in 1D. When the field competes with the interactions, a quantum phase transition (QPT) occurs from a gapless, magnetically ordered phase at low fields to a gapped, disordered regime. We use a continuous-time Monte Carlo method to compute the staggered moment of the ordered phases and the spin gap of the disordered phases. We deduce the phase diagrams as functions of the anisotropy ratio and the applied field, and calculate the scaling behavior of the models in both quantities. We show that in the competitive case, the staggered field acts to maintain a regime of quasi-1D behavior around the QPT, and we discuss as a consequence the nature of the crossover from 1D to 2D physics.

Abstract:We study the quantum state transfer (QST) in a class of qubit networks with on-site Coulomb interaction, which are described by the generalized Hubbard model with engineered hopping strengths. It is proved that the N-site system of two electrons with opposite spins can be rigorously reduced into N one dimensional engineered single Bloch electron models with central potential barrier. With this observation, we find that such system can perform a perfect QST, the quantum swapping between two distant electrons with opposite spins. Numerical results show that such QST and the resonant tunneling occur for the optimal on-site repulsive interaction.
Low energy spectrum of the XXZ model coupled to a magnetic field

Abstract:It is shown that, for a class of Hamiltonians of XXZ chains in an external magnetic field that are small perturbations of an Ising Hamiltonian, the spectral gap above the ground-state energy remains strictly positive when the perturbation is turned on, uniformly in the length of the chain. The result is proven for both the ferromagnetic and the antiferromagnetic Ising Hamiltonian; in the latter case the external magnetic field is required to be small, and for an even number of sites the two-fold degenerate ground-state energy of the unperturbed Hamiltonian may split into two energy levels whose difference is small. This result is proven by using a new, quite subtle refinement of a method developed in earlier work and used to iteratively block-diagonalize Hamiltonians of ever larger subsystems with the help of local unitary conjugations. One novel ingredient of the method presented in this paper consists of the use of Lieb-Robinson bounds.

Improvements to the Stochastic Series Expansion method for the $JQ_2$ model with a magnetic field

Abstract:The Stochastic Series Expansion (SSE) quantum Monte Carlo method with directed loops is very efficient for spin and boson systems. The Heisenberg mode l and its generalizations, such as the $JQ_2$ model, are extensively simulated via this method. When introducing magnetic field in these models, the SSE method always combines the field with the diagonal part of the Heisenberg interactions (${S_i}^z{S_j}^z$) and take them as the new diagonal operators. In general, this treatment is reasonable. However, when studying Hamiltonians which have other interactions or even don't contain the Heisenberg interactio ns, this general treatment will not be efficient or even not work. We suggest that when doing directed-loop simulations, the magnetic field can be put in to other interactions. This new treatment, in some cases, improves the simulation efficiency. Using the $JQ_2$ model with magnetic field as an example, w e here demonstrate this new SSE method. Such new treatment significantly improves the efficiency when the $Q_2$ interactions are large. The autocorrelati ons are reduced a lot compared to the previous approach. In addition, we argue that we can divide the magnetic field into two parts and combine them with both the $J$ and $Q$ operators respectively. This treatment also improves the simulation efficiency. The underlying mechanism is that these two new SSE methods can utilize the main part or even all part of operators in operator products to do the directe d-loop updates. Such idea can also be applied to other models with magnetic field and it will speed up the simulations.

Abstract:We investigate the adiabatic magnetization process of the one-dimensional J - Q 2 model with XXZ anisotropy g in an external magnetic field h by using density matrix renormalization group (DMRG) method. According to the characteristic of the magnetization curves, we draw a magnetization phase diagram consisting of four phases. For a fixed nonzero pair coupling Q, (i) when g < -1, the ground state is always ferromagnetic in spite of h; (ii) when g > -1 but still small, the whole magnetization curve is continuous and smooth; (iii) if further increasing g, there is a macroscopic magnetization jump from partially- to fully-polarized state; (iv) for a sufficiently large g, the magnetization jump is from non- to fully-polarized state. By examining the energy per magnon and the correlation function, we find that the origin of the magnetization jump is the condensation of magnons and the formation of magnetic domains. We also demonstrate that while the experienced states are Heisenberg-like without long-range order, all the jumped-over states have antiferromagnetic or Néel long-range orders, or their mixing.
