Abstract:In a recent paper which appeared in this journal, Cheon [1] rederived several known properties and relationships involving the classical Bernoulli and Euler polynomials. The object of the present sequel to Cheon's work [1] is to show (among other things) that the main relationship (proven in [1]) can easily be put in a much more general setting. Some analogous relationships between the Bernoulli and Euler polynomials are also considered.

Abstract:Binomial-Eulerian polynomials were introduced by Postnikov, Reiner and Williams. In this paper, properties of the binomial-Eulerian polynomials, including recurrence relations and generating functions are studied. We present three constructive proofs of the recurrence relations for binomial-Eulerian polynomials. Moreover, we give a combinatorial interpretation of the Betti number of the complement of the k-equal real hyperplane arrangement.

Abstract:We study linear recurrences of Eulerian type of the form<math>Pn(v)=(α(v)n+γ(v))Pn−1(v)+β(v)(1−v)Pn−1′(v)(n⩾1),</math> with <math>P0(v)</math> given, where <math>α(v),β(v)</math> and <math>γ(v)</math> are in most cases polynomials of low degrees. We characterize the various limit laws of the coefficients of <math>Pn(v)</math> for large n using the method of moments and analytic combinatorial tools under varying <math>α(v),β(v)</math> and <math>γ(v)</math>, and apply our results to more than two hundred of concrete examples when <math>β(v)≠0</math> and more than three hundred when <math>β(v)=0</math> that we gathered from the literature and from Sloane's OEIS database. The limit laws and the convergence rates we worked out are almost all new and include normal, half-normal, Rayleigh, beta, Poisson, negative binomial, Mittag-Leffler, Bernoulli, etc., showing the surprising richness and diversity of such a simple framework, as well as the power of the approaches used.

Abstract:In this paper, we introduce the definitions of Eulerian pair and Hermite-Biehler pair. We also characterize a duality relation between Eulerian recurrences and Eulerian recurrence systems. This generalizes and unifies Hermite-Biehler decompositions of several enumerative polynomials, including up-down run polynomials for symmetric groups, alternating run polynomials for hyperoctahedral groups, flag descent polynomials for hyperoctahedral groups and flag ascent-plateau polynomials for Stirling permutations. We derive some properties of associated polynomials. In particular, we prove the alternatingly increasing property and the interlacing property of the ascent-plateau and left ascent-plateau polynomials for Stirling permutations.
