Clinical Observation of Plasma Exchange and Plasma Perfusion in the Treatment of Patients with Liver Failure

Abstract:Objective To observe the efficacy and safety of artificial liver support system(ALSS)-plasma exchange and hemoperfusion(PE+HP) in the treatment of patients with liver failure.Methods 80 patients with liver failure were treated with plasma exchange and hemoperfusion(PE+HP).And the other 77 patients with liver failure were treated only with plasma exchange(PE).Before and after the treatment,the clinical symptoms,signs,adverse effects and complications were observed and the liver function was tested.Results After ALSS,total serumbilirubin,alanine aminotransferase,aspartase aminotransferase and prothrombin time were significantly declined both in these two groups(P 0.05).There was no significant difference between these two groups in effects,mortality,the side-effects and complications(P 0.05).Conclusions PE+PP can effectiveby improve clinical symptoms and liver function and is an effective and safe treatment for patients with liver failure as well as PE.
