Abstract:In recent years, mobile data gathering in wireless sensor networks has attracted much interests in the research community. However, despite extensive efforts, many of previous work in this area lies only in theory and evaluates network performance with computer simulations, which leaves a large gap from reality. In this paper, we present the design and implementation of a general purpose, flexible platform for mobile data gathering in wireless sensor networks to evaluate network performance and algorithms in a practical setting. Instead of relying on hand-crafted theoretical models, our platform integrates both mobile data collector and sensor nodes to provide realistic performance evaluations. In addition, the platform adopts a modular design in mobile data collector and sensor nodes, and equips the mobile data collector with advanced computing capability, which makes it versatile for evaluating the performance of a wide-range of applications. Finally, as a case study, weimplement a wildlife monitoring system on our platform. Our experimental results demonstrate that real implementations can evaluate many practical performance factors which would have a great impact on the sensing results and are very difficult to fully capture by theoretical models and simulations. We expect that this platform can become a very powerful general tool for more accurate network simulations and facilitate performance optimization in wireless sensor networks.

Abstract:In order to solve the problem of low efficiency of the huge data communication with each PC terminal in the system,a data ransmission mechanism was designed.Transmission layer and representation layer of system communication were defined,IP Multicast was adopted at transmission layer,XML technology was adopted to define data packet at representation layer.The transmission of network data efficiently was realized.Experimentation result shows that the mechanism can improve the efficency of system data transmission greatly.

Abstract:This paper presents the design and implementation of network controller which based on the Data Link Layer's specification of a lightweight sensor-oriented fieldbus protocol, that is sensor network protocol. The controller is packed with AVALON standard peripheral interface. It can be treated as a normal intellectual property core in project design, so that the operation on it is simplified as reading or writing on register. The test results show that the controller meets the requirements of the specification in the frame identification, arbitration, checking and so on. A follow-up application developing basement can be found easily on this controller.

Abstract:By far most of the experiments on ad hoc network research have been done by using simulators. Although easier than a real implementation, simulation can not yet reflect the real network environment entirely. Hence, in-depth research on ad hoc network requires a real implementation. To date, some Linux-based ad hoc network implementations have been proposed. In this paper, we present a multi-hop wireless ad hoc network implementation on Windows system based on 802.11 single-hop ad hoc mode. In the implementation we have adopted ad hoc on-demand distance vector (AODV) protocol as the routing protocol. In this paper, we first introduce the background, and then analyze the key implementation problems we have faced. Aiming at those key problems we propose a design framework based on NDIS intermediate driver and discuss some key techniques to solve them. Finally, some experiment results on our implementation was demonstrated.

Abstract:Up to now most of the studies and experiments based on wireless ad hoc network were accomplished in the simulators.However,the simulators can not yet reflect the real network environment entirely.The data gained from the simulators may differ from the real data,so the implementation of a real wireless ad hoc network is extremely necessary.In this paper,we presented a multi-hop wireless ad hoc network implementation in real sense based on the AODV protocol on Windows operating system.First we introduced related background and researches,and then we analyzed the key problems met in practice and the solutions.At last,we analyzed the performance of our prototype system of ad hoc network implemented as stated in the paper with experiment results.

Abstract:In order to reduce repetition and ensure the accuracy and consistency in implementing Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) routing protocol on different platforms,an implementation framework of MANET routing protocols running on Windows,Linux and NS-2 was designed and validated by implementing Ad Hoc On-Demand Distance Vector (AODV),a classic MANET reactive routing protocol based on it.The method by abstraction for separating protocol entity from environments is of generability in designing the framework.It can also be applied to other MANET routing protocols or other network protocols (e.g.TCP),and can also be extended to support other operating systems.

Abstract:In ubiquitous computing environments, intelligent devices may have multiple network connections. It is usually left to applications to choose suitable network connections. The applications must face the problem of adapting to the dynamic network environments, they have to select the most suitable network, switch to another one when the current one couldn't work anymore, re-establishment failed connections, etc. Although some systems and middle wares are brought forward to solve these problems, they can only solve part of them. In this paper, a novel approach is proposed to make the network-scheduling operation as fundamental part of the OS. In that OS, new network programming interface is provided, and users could use abstract network interface or a special one. Like task-scheduling, the new OS will switch among networks instead of applications when necessary and the switching operation is almost transparent. This paper also presents the design and implementation of the architecture.

Abstract:Wireless multi‐hop network technology paves a way of ad hoc communication among nodes and facilitates users to access Internet .However ,due to the natures of wireless media and distributed operation mode ,more performance and security challenges in wireless multi‐hop networks are faced , and designing efficient protocols are one of the main research objectives in this field .To solve the problem of relying much on simulation to aid protocols design , the paper proposes an integrated platform ,the testbed for high‐level analysis of wireless ad‐hoc routing design(T H‐award) ,helps to test and analyze the performance and security of designed protocols through implementing them on it . T H‐aw ard consists of commercial routers ,servers and embedded development boards .By analyzing the work mechanisms of protocols ,T H‐award is designed with a protocol rule library ,a parameter library and a test and analysis library ,which permits users not only to customize and deploy their designed protocols ,but also to easily get the results in terms of performance and security of them .In the end ,we implement comprehensive experiments by TH‐award to verify its feasibility .

Abstract:(Abstract)For the current situation that it is difficult to carry out experiments in Wireless Sensor Network(WSN) teaching process, this paper designs a teaching platform for WSN routing experiments based on source-code level. This platform solidifies the generic part of routing algorithms by using modular approach. Users can configure different routing algorithms by parameter configuration. Students can focus on the key algorithm designing and do simulation tests during the routing experiment. Preliminary evaluation results show that most users are able to complete one or more routing algorithms in two class hours as well as simulation tests, which can simplify the simulation experiment and the amount of difficulty.

Abstract:In this paper, a new interface is developed in detail that provides terminal users with ways for direct and convenient interactions with the wireless sensor networks (WSNs). It also embraces an Internet based subsystem for remote monitoring and controlling of the WSNs. Different from existing platforms and interfaces, our design is general, extensible and not constrained for specific applications. More importantly, it paves the way for improving the data processing efficiency and avoiding data execution congestion. It proposes the idea utilizing the advantages of existing professional mathematical software tools, such as Matlab, Mathematica and Maple, to process the WSN data.

Abstract:According to the scenarios of fewer nodes with less mobility, a practical approach to Ad hoc based on Bluetooth is proposed, including the design of network routing, application framework and a distributed path discovery algorithm which is easily implemented in L2CAP (logical link control and adaptation protocol) layer of Bluetooth. In order to verify and test the approach, an experimental system is implemented. Combining with the test data, performances of Ad hoc based on Bluetooth is theoretically derived and comparatively analyzed in detail, including the analysis of linking time, bandwidth and average delay. It is concluded that this approach to Ad hoc based on Bluetooth is fit for multi-hop communication and text, voice and video communication can be well supported.

Abstract:The multi-hopping and node mobility of an ad hoc network make it difficult to debug its protocol during implementation. It is unpractical to debug protocols on real radios at the beginning of the implementation. A debugging environment is very necessary and important for ad hoc network protocol implementation. This paper analyzes the special requirement for the debugging environment and provides a two-phase debugging method: first indoor and then outdoor debugging. To support indoor debugging, we construct the indoor debugging environment using our ad hoc network emulation systems. The emulation system is composed of one computer with a multi-port card and several network nodes. It can emulate the wireless channel and the mobility of the ad hoc network nodes (this means that dynamic topology changes are also emulated). The design and implementation details of our ad hoc network emulation system are presented. For the outdoor debugging phase, we built an ad hoc network testbed. We adopt the idea of a remote monitor to observe and control the behavior of moving nodes. The fixed monitor communicates with moving nodes through the ad hoc network protocols we design. Experience tells us that at the beginning of protocol implementation and debugging, an ad hoc network emulation system is indispensable. In addition, a remote monitor is a very useful tool for outdoor debugging.
Virtualized network experimental platform based on layer abstraction

Abstract:The Internet is an important infrastructure in today's society but there are several problems with the current Internet and innovative solutions are needed. An effective experimental environment, TUNIE, is developed by Tsinghua University, for verifying and testing of new architectures, algorithms and protocols in a virtualization based network platform. Layer abstraction is used in the design, with the system divided into four layers for heterogeneous resource management, virtualization, management and measurements, and an application layer. This achieves functional decoupling and layer optimization. The system is used to investigate high-performance programmable router design, virtualization mapping and scheduling algorithms, and management and measurement system structures. The system has been used for prototype deployment and can simultaneously support up to 40 tests. The system is scalable and programmable and can reproduce the real Internet environment, providing an excellent experimental environment for network research.

Abstract:With the development of embedded and communication technology, along with the rapid popularization of smart mobile devices in recent years, the communication techniques in ubiquitous networking becomes more and more mature and variety, ranging from wireless communication techniques in long distance such as WiMAX and 3G to wireless communication techniques in moderate distance such as WiFi, as well as wireless communication techniques in short distance such as Bluetooth and ZigBee. Smart mobile devices can take advantages of various communication techniques in ubiquitous networking to connect, discover and communicate to each other, forming into groups to realize cooperation among multiple devices in ubiquitous networking environment. Combined with the application context of cooperation among multiple devices on entertainment in the scene of smart home, ubiquitous networking techniques and smart mobile devices are adopted while a method of group management for multiple devices in ubiquitous networking is put up. And a cooperative platform in ubiquitous networking based on a multi-agent framework, named JADE, is designed and implemented. Last but not least, a prototype system is given to validate the feasibility and the performance.

Abstract:Mobile Ad Hoc networks are autonomously self-organized networks without infrastructure support. We study Ad Hoc network routing protocol based the standard protocol in the IEEE 802.11 MAC, and the MAC layer label Switch routing protocol (MLLS) is proposed in this paper. It is designed and implemented by cross-layer method afterward. The proposed protocol utilizes the MAC frame to carry a complete route segment, without the involvement of the network layer. As the result the intermediate forwarding of packets transmission is only involved in the MAC layer and PHY layer. The simulation results show the improvement of the performance. The implementation achieves the basic functions of the proposed routing protocol, and the routing protocol in this paper is implemented in the driver layer.

Abstract:In past few years wireless local area network (WLAN) technology has become a common wireless access technology for mobile computing. Compared to infrastructure access to WLAN networks, wireless mesh network is a more flexible solution to provide wireless network access and it is gaining in interest. Key advantages of wireless mesh network include flexible network architecture, easy deployment and configuration and capability of self-forming, self-healing, and self-organization. More recently, the bright prospects of the technology incite more and more researchers to deploy wireless mesh network testbeds, which are mostly based on layer 3 routing, to estimate the network performance. In this paper we discuss some key technical aspects of wireless mesh network and introduce a new way to deploy a testbed based on layer 2 routing by using Libpcap and Libnet. Our testbed consists of some real mesh nodes and also some certain types of test are used to verify the functions of the testbed.

Abstract:Some basic concepts on wireless Ad Hoc multi-path source routing (MSR) protocol,were introduced. The implementation of MSR under Linux, completed by the authors, was also presented and some key algorithms in the implementation were given. Some experiments were done on a test-bed consisting of five mobile nodes. The performance evaluation of MSR in terms of the test-bed was conducted and some performance results were achieved. The main conclusion is that MSR can provide better support for mobile communications especially in fast movement environment.

Abstract:There are many types of device interfaces in the communication anti-jamming test environment, and the control instructions vary greatly. Most of the traditional test control systems are developed only for specific equipment and interfaces of a manufacturer, and its function is single. Because the reuse rate of the system is low, the cost of updating and maintaining is high. This paper proposes and designs a testing framework for the whole network based on the multi-layer software architecture, System by based on TCP protocol and socket interface command flow, implementation of all kinds of network test equipment centralized control and status monitoring, improve the accuracy and efficiency of data transmission test system of anti-jamming in the field of communication.
