Abstract:This paper summarizes researches progress on TiO2 nanotubes in recent years.The preparation methods of the TiO2 nano-tubes and the underlying formation mechanisms are introduced,and key factors affecting the formation of anodic TiO2 nanotube ar-rays are discussed in detail.Different doping methods and their effects on the TiO2 nanotubes with various elements are summarized,and the N-doped TiO2 nanotubes are explained in depth.In addition to doping,another way to improve activity of the TiO2 nanotubes is the surface modification of the TiO2 nanotubes with quantum dots and organic dyes,which is also described in this paper.The future research and application prospects in this field are predicted.

Abstract:The iron doping titanium dioxide was prepared by sol-gel, step precipitation, co-precipitation and immersion methods, respectively. The photocatalytic activities of these prepared samples were evaluated in X-3B dispersion irradiated under UV, The experimental results showed that the immersion method, especially using the nano TiO2 as immersion matrix, greatly enhanced the photocatalytic activity. One fold enhancement in photocatalytic activity was observed in the case of the sample prepared by immersion doping method. This may be attributed to the nano-size effect, the irreversible hole trapper in non-saturated bonding field of Fe3+ and larger lattice strain.

Abstract:A facile and convenient method has been developed to prepare N-doped TiO2 visible light nanocatalysts, which is performed by a solid-state calcination of one-dimensional titanate nanotubes with an inorganic ammonium salt (NH4Cl). The ion-exchange reaction between layered nanotubes and NH4Cl contributes to the phase transition to crystalline TiO2 combined with N doping. X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy are carried out to study the phase evolution, compositions, and morphologies of obtained samples. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy reveals that the N dopant in TiO2 is assigned to the interstitial NHx species. Both the phase transition and N doping are further confirmed by UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectra. All N-doped TiO2 materials exhibit significantly higher visible light activities than that of the parent nanotubes for degrading rhodamine B. In addition, the N-doped TiO2 nanocatalyst holds a strong stability and durability for the removal of organic pollutions.

Abstract:The V-doped TiO2 nanoparticles were successfully prepared by sol-gel method and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), UV-vis spectroscopy and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy respectively. It is found that doping V can shift the absorption edge to the visible light region and decrease the recombination of photo-induced electron-hole pairs. Then the photo-absorption and photocatalytic activity were greatly improved. The optimal doping concentration is 0.5% due to synergetic effect of the recombination of electron-hole pairs and adsorption of dyes molecules at the surface of samples.

Abstract:As a typical photocatalyst,nano-titania has been attracting much attention.In this paper,some methodology to realize a visible light response of TiO2 including noble metal depositing,semiconductor coupling,transition-metal or nonmetal element doping,surface dye sensitization are reviewed,and doping is the most commonly used method to improve the TiO2 photocatalysis activity.Moreover,organic functional surface modification of TiO2 particle and other innovation methods are also introduced.In the end,the research foreground on nanotitania based photocatalytic materials is prospected.It's pointed out that the next stage will be focus on the study of organic-inorganic dual-functionalized doping TiO2 and its application on life science.

Abstract:TiO2 nanomaterial is promising with its high potential and outstanding performance in photocatalytic environmental applications, such as CO2 conversion, water treatment, and air quality control. For many of these applications, the particle size, crystal structure and phase, porosity, and surface area influence the activity of TiO2 dramatically. TiO2 nanomaterials with special structures and morphologies, such as nanospheres, nanowires, nanotubes, nanorods, and nanoflowers are thus synthesized due to their desired characteristics. With an emphasis on the different morphologies of TiO2 and the influence factors in the synthesis, this review summarizes fourteen TiO2 preparation methods, such as the sol-gel method, solvothermal method, and reverse micelle method. The TiO2 formation mechanisms, the advantages and disadvantages of the preparation methods, and the photocatalytic environmental application examples are proposed as well.

Abstract:In this research, we have studied the doping behaviors of eight transition metal ion dopants on the crystal phase, particle sizes, XRD patterns, adsorption spectra, anatase fraction, and photoreactivity of TiO 2 nanoparticles. The pristine and ion-doped TiO 2 nanoparticles of 15.91-25.47 nm were prepared using sol–gel method. Test metal ion concentrations ranged from 0.00002 to 0.2 at.%. The absorption spectra of the TiO 2 nanoparticles were characterized using UV-Visible spectrometer. The wavelength of the absorption edge of TiO 2 was estimated using the spectra derivative-tangent method. The photoreactivities of pristine and ion-doped TiO 2 nanoparticles under UV irradiation were quantified by the decoloring rate of methyl orange. XRD patterns were recorded using a Rigaku D/MAX-2500 V diffractometer with Cu Kα radiation (50 kV and 250 mA), and particle size and anatase fraction were calculated. Results reveal that different ion doping exhibited complex effects on the studied characteristics of TiO 2 nanoparticles. In general, red shift occurred to ion-doped TiO 2 nanoparticles, but still with higher TiO 2 photoreactivities when doped with Fe 3+ and Ni 2+ ions. Among the ions investigated, Ni-doped TiO 2 nanoparticles have shown highest photoreactivity at the concentration of 0.002 at.%, about 1.9 times that of the pristine TiO 2 . Ion doping was shown to reduce the diameter and influence the fraction of anatase. Data also indicated that the combination of anatase diameter and ion radius might play an important role in the photoreactivity of TiO 2 nanoparticles. This investigation contributes to the understanding of complex ion doping effects on TiO 2 nanoparticles, and provides references for enhancing their environmental application.

Abstract:Background: Recent developments in nanotechnology have provided efficient and promising methods for the treatment of diseases to achieve better therapeutic results and lower side effects. Titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanomaterials are emerging inorganic nanomaterials with excellent properties such as low toxicity and easy functionalization. TiO2 with special nanostructures can be used as delivery vehicles for drugs, genes and antigens for various therapeutic options. The exploration of TiO2-based drug delivery systems shows great promise for translating nanotechnology into clinical applications; Methods: Comprehensive data on titanium dioxide were collected from reputable online databases including PubMed, GreenMedical, Web of Science, Google Scholar, China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database, and National Intellectual Property Administration; Results: In this review, we discuss the synthesis pathways and functionalization strategies of TiO2. Recent advances of TiO2 as a drug delivery system, including sustained and controlled drug release delivery systems were introduced. Rigorous long-term systematic toxicity assessment is an extremely critical step in application to the clinic, and toxicity is still a problem that needs to be closely monitored; Conclusions: Despite the great progress made in TiO2-based smart systems, there is still a great potential for development. Future research may focus on developing dual-reaction delivery systems and single-reaction delivery systems like redox and enzyme reactions. Undertaking thorough in vivo investigations is necessary prior to initiating human clinical trials. The high versatility of these smart drug delivery systems will drive the development of novel nanomedicines for personalized treatment and diagnosis of many diseases with poor prognosis.

Abstract:Iron-doped titania (TiO2) nanocrystalline grains were prepared by sol-gel method at room temperature.The samples were characterized by using transmission electron microscope,X-ray diffractometer,energy dispersive spectrometry and ultaviolet-visible spectrophotometer.The photocatalytic property of titania nanocrystalline grains and iron-doped titanium dioxide nanocrystalline grains were investigated by degrading the methyl orange solution.The results show that the appropriate content of iron can effectively enhance the photocatalytic activity of TiO2 nanocrystalline grains.The optimized amount of Fe doped is approximately 25% (mole ratio of Fe to (Ti+Fe)).The photocatalytic property of iron-doped titanium dioxide nanocrystalline grains is better than that of pure titanium dioxide nanocrystalline grains.The degradation rate is more than 75% after a light exposure for 150 min.

Abstract:In the last decade, TiO2 nanotubes have attracted the attention of the scientific community and industry due to their exceptional photocatalytic properties, opening a wide range of additional applications in the fields of renewable energy, sensors, supercapacitors, and the pharmaceutical industry. However, their use is limited because their band gap is tied to the visible light spectrum. Therefore, it is essential to dope them with metals to extend their physicochemical advantages. In this review, we provide a brief overview of the preparation of metal-doped TiO2 nanotubes. We address hydrothermal and alteration methods that have been used to study the effects of different metal dopants on the structural, morphological, and optoelectrical properties of anatase and rutile nanotubes. The progress of DFT studies on the metal doping of TiO2 nanoparticles is discussed. In addition, the traditional models and their confirmation of the results of the experiment with TiO2 nanotubes are reviewed, as well as the use of TNT in various applications and the future prospects for its development in other fields. We focus on the comprehensive analysis and practical significance of the development of TiO2 hybrid materials and the need for a better understanding of the structural-chemical properties of anatase TiO2 nanotubes with metal doping for ion storage devices such as batteries.

Abstract:The pure and WO3-doped TiO2 nanoparticles photocatalyst was prepared by chemical precipitation,in which titanium tetrachloride was used as Ti-precursor,ammonia as precipitant and sodium tungstate as doping donor.The samples was characterized by XRD and FTIR.The photocatalytic activity was evaluated by the photocatalytic decomposition of phenol under 20 W UV light irradiation,The Effects of calcinated temperature and WO3-doped concentration on the activity was investigated.The results showed that WO3 doping retards the growth of grain size.The photocatalytic activity of pure TiO2 is optital when the sample was calcined at 450℃,The WO3-TiO2 photocatalysts show better photocatalytic activity.The optimum concentration of WO3 is 1%(mole fracition).

Abstract:Titanium dioxide (TiO 2 ) and doped TiO 2 have emerged as efficient photocatalytic materials for the degradation of harmful dyes released in water. The doping significantly increases the photocatalytic activity of TiO 2 by enhancing light absorption in visible region and by alteration of structure, surface area and morphology etc. The doping of TiO 2 has been achieved with various elements from the transition metal series, ions, nitrogen, with rare earths and other metallic nanostructures. Recently, significant new developments were noticed in the literature about doping of TiO 2 with new materials using different strategies. In this review, the basic information of TiO 2 as a photocatalyst is presented and the importance of doping to improve the photocatalytic performance of TiO 2 is highlighted. Recent reports about the doped TiO 2 from the literature are listed in tabular format and critically analyzed. The collective information presented will help to design new doping strategies and to come up with novel and more efficient TiO 2 based photocatalysts to develop a water purification technology.
