Abstract:AbstractThe phenomenon “global village” is exhibited in the field of design as not only cultural fusion, but also the increasingly important and prominent inter-disciplinary cooperation. This is particularly true of the emergence and rapid development of new digital media technologies, which will become a new medium that enables new integration and unification of all design disciplines and interdisciplinary knowledge. Design is no longer a marginal discipline. It will play an active role in various fields to show its importance, and will lead the development and progress of society and human civilization. New interdisciplinary integration and unification of design has not only epoch-making significance for the development of modern design, but also a huge impact on the current mode of design thinking. The fundamental purpose of all designs is to meet human needs rather than research and manufacture the products. Such purpose is being fulfilled in a slow manner due to technical limitations, despite some remarkable achievements. Today, the idea can be better developed and brought into innovation by means of new digital media technologies, making interdisciplinary design more reasonable and feasible. Therefore, this article aims to establish a framework for contemporary designers for interdisciplinary design in the future, to explore the continuity and originality of modern design by combining public needs with the development of new digital media technologies.
