Abstract:The high voltage short distance 35 kV feeding transmission system is one of the common short distance power systems . According to the physical equipment, the author takes to partitioning the system. The transmission module is used as a lumped parameter model, synchronous generator, transformer, composite load are separately operated as independent built-modules. Every module connection is substituted by a decoupled voltage source. So every module can take parallel integration. A mathematics model of feed power system non-three phase running is developed on the basis of known model of synchronous machine and composite load .The digital integration method is also given .The results of a digital example simulation running on Pentium III show that the presented model and the given digital integration method are correct and can be realized in real-time.

Abstract:In the digital real-time simulation of the power system the multi-modules parallel processing technique has been extensively employed. The paper presents a coupled model between modules of the normal operation of the power system and its digital integration method. With this model and method, the digital real-time simulation of a concrete instance is realized by PentiumⅢ. The result of the simulation shows that the model is correct and the digital integral method is suitable for real-time simulation.

Abstract:Constructing or selecting an appropriate model is the foundation for the study of stochastic dynamics. In previous power system analysis, the disturbances to the system are mostly described by deterministic models, such as step-type models and periodic models. And deterministic time-domain or frequency-domain models are often used for system analysis. When studying the dynamic behavior of power systems under stochastic disturbances, the model must be established based on the stochastic disturbance characteristics in the power system, and it is necessary to consider how to introduce the stochastic disturbance model into the construction of the power system model. In this chapter, the ideal and measured stochastic disturbance models are presented, and a stochastic model of power system is constructed to analyze and compare the stochastic dynamic response calculation methods.
Reduction of Power System Model Using Balanced Realization Method

Abstract:The paper studies the power system model reduction using the balanced realization method. First, the balanced realization algorithm of power system model is proposed, and two methods of model reduction i.e. truncation and residualization are analyzed in detail. Then, the different reduced-order models for power system are respectively obtained by the proposed method. Finally, some simulating results for those reduced-models under the constant control input and linear optimum control law are given, and the absolute error and relative error for all reduced-models are also calculated. The results of simulation and error calculation show that when the k-th Hankle singular value is far bigger than the (k+1)-th Hankle singular value, the approximation properties of the k-order reduced model is excellent, and error is small. For the reduced-order system which the order is less than k, the stability is preserved in the reduced-order systems in spite of the error is relatively large, and this characteristic is very important to study the high layer model reduction in the hierarchical control for a large scale power systems.

Abstract:This paper expatiates on how to do the power system simulation experiments and analysis with the power system toolbox under the software Matlab Simulink condition on the base of introducing the Matlab and takes the power system simulation experiments as examples.The practice proves that the students can understand the courses' theory fast through the experiments phenomenon using Matlab simulation and they can master the way of analyzing complex power system using simulation elementarily.

Abstract:The power simulation covers all stages of development and operation of a power system, such as planning, design and also operation. This includes simulating dynamic behaviors of very large power systems with HVDC and FACTS, and verifying performances of these complex systems with the original control and protection equipment in a fast and accurate manner. In this paper, features and engineering applications of the simulation program system NETOMAC are introduced. With practical examples, benefits of the computer simulation for planning, design and operation of power systems are demonstrated.

Abstract:Combining with engineering practice, this paper develops the closed-loop control simulation system. The data flow and functional diagram of simulation system are introduced. The single section simulation method and continuous section simulation method are used to simulate the running state of power system, with three different control conditions, including no control, independent control and coordinated control. By the contrast analysis, this paper researches the influence of control condition to system loss, voltage stability margin and tie line reactive power. The simulation results indicate that the coordination among multi-level hierarchical control systems can effectively avoid the control oscillation and reduce the irrational reactive power flow between the higher power system and the lower power system.

Abstract:To research the load-following capability of the nuclear power generating unit, this paper proposed a detailed mathematical model of the pressurized water reactor (PWR) which is suitable for medium- and long-term stability analysis of power systems. Analyzed the interactions between the nuclear power generating unit and the power system, through the simulations of a single machine infinite bus (SMIB) system. The results show that PWR nuclear power generating unit can meet load following requirements to some degree.

Abstract:The high-order mathematical model of nuclear power units is with complex structures,and is not suitable for applications because of massive and time-consuming simulation calculations.But the reduced mathematical model can be only used for the short-term stability analysis.So it is necessary to establish a mathematical model of the nuclear power units suitable for the mediumand long-term stability analysis of power systems.The mathematical model of the pressurized water reactor(PWR) nuclear power unit is hereby established.Based on this model,the inherent characteristics of the nuclear power unit have been analyzed.By the simulation of a single machine infinite bus(SMIB) system,the interaction between the nuclear power unit and the power system is also studied.As long as the fault is removed timely,there will be no great impact on the nuclear power units.

Abstract:The principle of developing power system transient simulation software is presented in detail, and on this basis a Matlab/Simulink based the power system simulation toolbox （PSST） is developed. At present, PSST can be used in the analysis and research on power flow calculation, small signal stability analysis, time-domain simulation, et al. PSST is convenient to use and possesses such advantages as good extensibility and convenient to use, and it remedies the defect of conventional large-scale commercial software, that it is difficult to add new components to them, therefore PSST can add user-defined new modules seamlessly in the form of Simulink module. Besides, according to the requirement of actual simulation accuracy PSST can also choose appropriate Simulink solver flexibly for the simulation while the simulation model needs not to be modified. To verify the effectiveness and accuracy of simulation results by PSST, taking New England system under a certain fault condition for example, the time-domain simulation results by PSST are analyzed and compared with time-domain simulation results of the same example by power system toolbox （PST）. Finally, taking the design of a wide area supplementary damping controller （WSDC） for SVC as example, the basic principle and method of using PSST for the design of a controller are expounded, and it can be seen from this example that PSST is very suitable for the research on power system control.

Abstract:This experiment demonstrates to engineering students that control system and power system theory are not orthogonal, but highly interrelated. It introduces a real-world power system problem to enhance time domain State Space Modelling (SSM) skills of students. It also shows how power quality is affected with real-world scenarios. Power system was modeled in State Space by following its circuit topology in a bottom-up fashion. At two different time instances of the power generator sinusoidal wave, the transmission line was switched on. Fourier transform was used to analyze resulting line currents. It validated the harmonic components, as expected, from power system theory. Students understood the effects of switching transients at various times on supply voltage sinusoid within control theory and learned time domain analysis. They were surveyed to gauge their perception of the project. Results from a before/after assessment analyzed using T-Tests showed a statistically significant enhanced learning in SSM.

The simulation is a very useful tool for the research on the electricity market and its running. This article centers mainly on how to build the simulation system. One key issue to build the simulation system is to adopt different simulation models to suit different market participants such as the market administrator, the independent schedule center, the independent power supplier and the power purchase company, etc. In this article the different models are mentioned, the simulation system of electricity market based on the B/S software architecture is designed and explored, simultaneously some of the simulation results are offered.

Abstract:This paper in existence a complete system connected to all situations power quality event, which has been achieved using MATLAB/SIMULINK and utilizing parametric equations. In electrical energy allocation system, the disturbances of power quality have emerged as an important matter for usefulness and customers. This design incorporates distribution two capacitor bank, line fault, starting of induction motor, non-linear load and transformer energizing that are usage to simulate diverse kind of voltage sag. In simulate voltage provisional through distribution network produced as a result of effect capacitor bank switching version in the general model. For clarity, this model is advanced with an integrated block and setting in which all event situations are organized for energy quality without scarifying the gist it. This model Integrated is too beneficial to simulate different energy quality waveforms. The performance of the brand new automated categorization algorithms received are appropriate for checking waveforms of power quality.

Abstract:To establish the static and dynamic models of unified power flow controller(UPFC) in multi-machine power system,a novel approach based on a new type of power system simulation toolbox(PST) was proposed.The modularization design on the steady,dynamic models and the interface of UPFC was employed in the proposed approach.By taking shunt inverter bus as a generator bus and series inverter bus as a load bus in the steady model,UPFC was split into two injections of nodal power.Considering the dynamic changing process of direct current capacitance,series and shunt voltage sources model in common use were adopted into the dynamic model of UPFC.The time-domain simulation results demonstrate that the proposed approach can effectively simulate the steady and dynamic characteristics of UPFC in the multivariable controller design.The proposed approach based on PST developed in Matlab is simple,convenient and easy to be extended.

Abstract:PSASP (Power System Analysis Software Package) is applied widely in computation and simulation of power system, while recently PSB (Power System Blockset), powerful and flexible, is released as one of the blocksets of MATLAB. The difference between the generator models, the transient power algorithms of PSASP and PSB are analyzed. The load flow and stability of three typical power system models are calculated and compared. The results obtained from PSASP and MATLAB PSB show little difference, and the reason is explained. Those methods, functions and toolboxes used frequently in power system simulation by MATLAB are also introduced. Abstract:The continuous monitoring of power quality (PQ) disturbances in electrical power distribution system has become an important issue for utilities and customers. The power system operation can be improved and maintained by analyzing the PQ disturbances systematically. In this paper, an attempt has been made to review the modeling and simulation of the PQ disturbances due to the exploitation of various types of loads. The PQ disturbances are created by using parametric equations as well as electrical power distribution system models in MATLAB/SIMULINK environment. The PQ disturbances of voltage magnitude variation such as sag, swell and interruption are created by applying different types of faults and heavy load in the power distribution model. The frequency variation types of PQ disturbances like harmonics are generated by applying power electronic converter. The non-stationary or transient PQ disturbances are produced by applying a capacitor switching bank in distribution model. The results of PQ disturbance waveforms obtained by both techniques are very similar to realtime PQ signals. The PQ waveforms obtained are suitable for checking the performance of the new automatic classification algorithms.
