Abstract:By using curvature estimates, we prove that a complete non-compact hypersurface M with constant mean curvature and finiteL n -norm curvature in R n+1 must be minimal, so that M is a hyperplane if it is strongly stable. This is a generalization of the result on stable complete minimal hypersurfaces of R n+1. Moreover, complete strongly stable hypersurfaces with constant mean curvature and finite L 1-norm curvature in R n+1 are considered.
On Real Kähler Euclidean Submanifolds with Non-Negative Ricci Curvature

Abstract:We show that any real Kahler Euclidean submanifold f : M-2n --> R2n+p with either non-negative Ricci curvature or non-negative holomorphic sectional curvature has index of relative nullity greater than or equal to 2n - 2p. Moreover, if equality holds everywhere, then the submanifold must be a product of Euclidean hypersurfaces almost everywhere, and the splitting is global provided that M-2n is complete. In particular, we conclude that the only real Kahler submanifolds M-2n in R-3n that have either positive Ricci curvature or positive holomorphic sectional curvature are products of n orientable surfaces in R-3 with positive Gaussian curvature. Further applications of our main result are also given.

Abstract:Let Mn(n ≥ 4) be an oriented compact submanifold with parallel mean curvature in an (n + p)-dimensional complete simply connected Riemannian manifold Nn+p. Then there exists a constant δ(n, p) 2 (0, 1) such that if the sectional curvature of N satisfies $${\overline K _N} \in \;\,\left[ {\delta \left( {n,p} \right),\;1} \right]$$, and if M has a lower bound for Ricci curvature and an upper bound for scalar curvature, then N is isometric to Sn+p. Moreover, M is either a totally umbilic sphere $${S^n}({1 \over {\sqrt {1 + {H^2}} }})$$, a Clifford hypersurface $${S^m}({1 \over {\sqrt {2(1 + {H^2})} }})\; \times \;{S^m}({1 \over {\sqrt {2(1 + {H^2})} }})$$ in the totally umbilic sphere $${S^{n+1}}({1 \over {\sqrt {1 + {H^2}} }})$$ with n = 2m, or $${\mathbb{C}{\rm{P}}^2}\left( {{4 \over 3}\left( {1 + {H^2}} \right)} \right)$$ in $${S^7}({1 \over {\sqrt {1 + {H^2}} }})$$. Abstract:In this paper, it is proved that there us no compact stable minimal submanifolds in a compact simply-connected 0.77-pinched Riemannian manifold, so that a conjecture of Lawson-Simons is supported In particular, the conjecture is true for complete L-pinched hypersurfaces in Rm+l with m greater than or equal to 3, Moreover, the instability of a compact domain of a minimal submanifold in delta -pinched manifolds is considered.

Abstract:In this paper, we investigate the compact minimal submanifold M-n(n >= 3) in the complex projective space CPn+p/2 (1). Denote by S the square norm of the second fundamental form. Set, (S) over tilde = S + 1/2 vertical bar t vertical bar(2) and epsilon = inf(M)vertical bar P vertical bar(2) , where P, t are the tensors defined in (2.1) below. We first, prove such that if parallel to S parallel to(n/2) < alpha 1 (n, epsilon) for epsilon > 0, then M is a totally geodesic submanifold CPn/2. Moreover, we prove if parallel to(S) over tilde parallel to(n/2) < alpha 3(n), where alpha 3(n) is an explicit positive constant depending only on n, then M is a totally geodesic submanifold CPn/2. We also prove other global pinching theorems for minimal submanifolds in the complex projective space.

Abstract:. We show that if a real Kähler Euclidean submanifold is as far as possible of being minimal, then it should split locally as a product of hypersurfaces almost everywhere, possibly in lower codimension. In addition, if the manifold is complete, simply connected and has constant nullity, it should split globally as a product of surfaces in ℝ^3 and an Euclidean factor. Several applications are also given.

Abstract:In this work, we investigate compact Kähler manifolds with non-negative or quasi-positive mixed curvature coming from a linear combination of the Ricci and holomorphic sectional curvature, which covers various notions of curvature considered in the literature. Specifically, we prove a splitting theorem, analogous to the Cheeger-Gromoll splitting theorem, for complete Kähler manifolds with non-negative mixed curvature containing a line, and then establish a structure theorem for compact Kähler manifolds with non-negative mixed curvature. We also show that the Hodge numbers of compact Kähler manifolds with quasi-positive mixed curvature must vanish. Both results are based on the conformal perturbation method.

Abstract:A rigidity theorem for oriented complete submanifolds with parallel mean curvature in a complete and simply connected Riemannian (n + p)-dimensional manifold N n+p with negative sectional curvature is proved. For given positive integers n(≥ 2), p and for a constant H satisfying H > 1 there exists a negative number τ(n, p, H) ∈ (−1,0) with the property that if the sectional curvature of N is pinched in [−1, τ(n, p, H)], and if the squared length of the second fundamental form is in a certain interval, then N n+p is isometric to the hyperbolic space H n+p(−1). As a consequence, this submanifold M is congruent to S n (1/$\sqrt {H^2 - 1} $) or the Veronese surface in S 4(1/$\sqrt {H^2 - 1} $).

Abstract: We generalize the splitting theorem of Cai-Galloway for complete Riemannian manifolds with $\Ric\geq-(n-1)$ admitting a family of compact hypersurfaces tending to infinity with mean curvatures tending to $n-1$ sufficiently fast to the setting of smooth metric measure spaces. This result complements and provides a new perspective on the splitting theorems recently proven by Munteanu-Wang and Su-Zhang. We show that the mean curvature assumption in our result is sharp, which also provides an example showing that the assumption $R\geq-(n-1)$ in the Munteanu-Wang splitting theorem for expanding gradient Ricci solitons cannot be relaxed to $R>-n$. We also use our result to study a certain class of conformally compact quasi-Einstein metrics, giving, as generalizations of respective results of Cai-Galloway and Lee, necessary conditions for the boundary to be connected and for the bottom of the spectrum of the weighted Laplacian to be maximal.

Abstract:In this paper, we prove some splitting results for manifolds supporting a non-constant infinity harmonic function which has at most linear growth on one side. Manifolds with non-negative Ricci or sectional curvature are considered. In dimension 2, we extend Savin's theorem on Lipschitz infinity harmonic functions in the plane to every surface with non-negative sectional curvature.

Abstract:In 2014, Gromov vaguely conjectured that a sequence of manifolds with nonnegative scalar curvature should have a subsequence which converges in some weak sense to a limit space with some generalized notion of nonnegative scalar curvature. The conjecture has been made precise at an IAS Emerging Topics meeting: requiring that the sequence be three dimensional with uniform upper bounds on diameter and volume, and a positive uniform lower bound on MinA, which is the minimum area of a closed minimal surface in the manifold. Here we present a sequence of warped product manifolds with warped circles over standard spheres, that have circular fibres over the poles whose length diverges to infinity, that satisfy the hypotheses of this IAS conjecture. We prove this sequence converges in the W 1 , p sense for p < 2 to an extreme limit space that has nonnegative scalar curvature in the distributional sense as defined by Lee-LeFloch and that the total distributional scalar curvature converges. This paper only requires expertise in smooth Riemannian Geometry, smooth minimal surfaces, and Sobolev Spaces. In a second paper, requiring expertise in metric geometry, the first two authors prove intrinsic flat and Gromov–Hausdorff convergence of our sequence to this extreme limit space and investigate its geometric properties.

Abstract:We show that the combination of non-negative sectional curvature (or $2$-intermediate Ricci curvature) and strict positivity of scalar curvature forces rigidity of complete (non-compact) two-sided stable minimal hypersurfaces in a $4$-manifold with bounded curvature. In particular, this implies the nonexistence of complete two-sided stable minimal hypersurface in a closed $4$-manifold with positive sectional curvature. Our work leads to new comparison results. We also construct various examples showing rigidity of stable minimal hypersurfaces can fail under other curvature conditions.

In this article, we address the question of when the universal covering space M̃ of M is holomorphically isometric to Cn−r × N, where N is a Kähler manifold whose Ricci tensor is nondegenerate somewhere. It is now known that such is the case if M covers a compact Kähler manifold, its bisectional curvature is everywhere nonpositive, and the metric is real analytic. Abstract:In this note, we continue the investigation of a projective Kähler manifold M of semi-negative holomorphic sectional curvature H. We introduce a new differential geometric numerical rank invariant which measures the number of linearly independent truly flat directions of H in the tangent spaces. We prove that this invariant is bounded above by the nef dimension and bounded below by the numerical Kodaira dimension of M. We also prove a splitting theorem for M in terms of the nef dimension and, under some additional hypotheses, in terms of the new rank invariant.

Abstract:A decomposition theorem is established for a class of closed Riemannian submanifolds immersed in a space form of constant sectional curvature. In particular, it is shown that if $M$ has nonnegative sectional curvature and admits a Codazzi tensor with "parallel mean curvature", then $M$ is locally isometric to a direct product of irreducible factors determined by the spectrum of that tensor. This decomposition is global when $M$ is simply connected, and generalizes what is known for immersed submanifolds with parallel mean curvature vector.

Abstract:Using minimal hypersurfaces, we obtain topological obstructions to admitting complete metrics with positive scalar curvature on a given class of non-compact n-manifolds with n less than 8. We show that the Liouville theorem for a locally conformally flat n-manifold of non-negative scalar curvature follows from the impossibility of there being a positive scalar curvature metric on its connect sum with the n-torus. With the recent work of Chodosh-Li, the Liouville theorem is now proved in all remaining cases. Finally, using MOTS instead of minimal hypersurfaces, we show an Initial Data Set version of these results with the Dominant Energy Scalar appearing instead of positive scalar curvature.
