Abstract:The decay Delta(+)-->pgamma is studied in the 1/N(c) expansion of QCD. The ratio of the helicity amplitudes is determined to be A(3/2)/A(1/2)=sqrt[3]+O(1/N(2)(c)). Equivalently, the ratio E2/M1 of the multipole amplitudes is predicted to be order 1/N(2)(c).

Abstract:We analyze long-distance contributions to the K --> pi pi amplitudes relevant for the Delta I = 1/2 selection rule in the framework of the 1/N_c expansion. We use a modified prescription for the identification of meson momenta in the chiral loop corrections to gain a consistent matching with the short-distance part. Our approach involves a separation of non-factorizable and factorizable 1/N_c corrections. Along these lines we calculate the one-loop contributions from the lowest order lagrangian. Our main result is an additional enhancement of the Delta I = 1/2 channel amplitude which we find in good agreement with experiment.

Abstract:In the limit of large N-c we first consider the N-c ordering of the various parity-violating pi, N, Delta couplings. Then we derive the relations among these couplings and consistency relations from the stability of these couplings under the chiral loop corrections with and without the mass splitting between N and Delta. Especially we find that h(Delta)=-35h(pi) in the large N-c limit, which correctly reproduces the relative sign and magnitude of the Desplanques-Donoghue-Holstein values for these parity-violating couplings.

Abstract:Electroproduction form factors describing the gamma* p -> Delta(+)(1232), Delta(+)(1600) transitions are computed using a fully dynamical diquark-quark approximation to the Poincare-covariant three-body bound-state problem in relativistic quantum field theory. In this approach, the Delta(1600) is an analogue of the Roper resonance in the nucleon sector, appearing as the simplest radial excitation of the Delta(1232). Precise measurements of the gamma* p -> Delta(+)(1232) transition already exist on 0 <= Q(2) less than or similar to 8 GeV2, and the calculated results compare favorably with the data outside the meson-cloud domain. The predictions for the gamma* p -> Delta(+)(1600) magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole transition form factors are consistent with the empirical values at the real photon point, and extend to Q(2) approximate to 6m(p)(2), enabling a meaningful direct comparison with experiment once analysis of existing data is completed. In both cases, the electric quadrupole form factor is particularly sensitive to deformation of the Delta-baryons. Interestingly, while the gamma* p -> Delta(+)(1232) transition form factors are larger in magnitude than those for gamma* p -> Delta(+)(1600) in some neighborhood of the real photon point, this ordering is reversed on Q(2) greater than or similar to 2m(p)(2), suggesting that the gamma* p -> Delta(+)(1600) transition is more localized in configuration space.

Abstract:$N \rightarrow \Delta$ transitions offer new possibilities for exploring the isovector component of the QCD quark angular momentum (AM) operator causing the $J^{u - d}$ flavor asymmetry in the nucleon. We extend the concept of QCD AM to transitions between baryon states, using light-front densities of the energy-momentum tensor in transversely localized states. We calculate the $N \rightarrow \Delta$ transition AM in the $1/N_c$ expansion, connect it with the $J^{u - d}$ flavor asymmetry in the nucleon, and estimate the values using lattice QCD results. In the same setup we connect the transition AM to the transition GPDs sampled in hard exclusive electroproduction processes with $N \rightarrow \Delta$ transitions, enabling experimental study of the transition AM.

Q(2)-Dependence Of The Gerasimov-Drell-Hearn Sum Rule

Abstract:We test the Gerasimov-Drell-Hearn (GDH) sum rule numerically by calculating the total photon absorption cross sections sigma(1/2) and sigma(3/2) on the nucleon via photon excitation of baryon resonances in the constituent quark model. A total of seventeen, low-lying, non-strange baryon resonances are included in this calculation. The transverse and longitudinal interference cross section, sigma(1/2)(TL), is found to play an important role in the study of the Q(2) variation of the sum rule. The results show that the GDH sum rule is saturated by these resonances at a confidence level of 94%. In particular, the P-33(1232) excitation largely saturates the sum rule at Q(2) = 0, and dominates at small Q(2). The GDH integral has a strong Q(2)-dependence below Q(2) = 1.0GeV(2) and changes its sign around Q(2) = 0.3GeV(2). It becomes weakly Q2-dependence for Q(2) > 1.0GeV(2) because of the quick decline of resonance contributions.

Abstract:The determination of the QCD running coupling constants alpha(s)(m(c)) and alpha(s)(m(b)) is studied with heavy quarkonia c (c) over bar and b (b) over bar decays. The decay rates of V --> 3g and V --> e(+)e(-) for V = J/psi and Upsilon are given in terms of the Bethe-Salpeter amplitudes. To the first-order relativistic correction of on-shell quarks, for the leptonic decay, we have Gamma(V --> e(+)e(-)) = (4 pi alpha(2)e(Q)(2)/m(Q)(2))\integral d(3)q[1-(2 (q) over right arrow(2)/3m(Q)(2))]psi(Sch)((q) over right arrow\(2), which agrees with the NRQCD result, while for the gluonic decay we find Gamma(V --> 3g) = [40(pi(2)-9)alpha(s)(3)(m(Q))/81m(Q)(2)]\ integral d(3)q[1-(2.95 (q) over right arrow(2)/m(Q)(2))]psi(Sch)((q) over right arrow)\(2). Here psi(Sch)((q) over right arrow is the Q (Q) over bar bound-state wave function in momentum space, and m(Q) is the heavy quark mass. This result clearly shows that the relativistic correction (due to the (q) over right arrow(2)/m(Q)(2) term in the decay widths) suppresses the gluonic decay more severely than the leptonic decay. We then estimate these decay widths by further including the first-order QCD radiative corrections (given in the <(MS)over bar> scheme and at the heavy quark mass scale) on the basis of the factorization assumption, and using the meson wave functions which are obtained with a QCD-inspired interquark potential. Using the experimental values of the ratio R(g) = Gamma(V --> 3g)/Gamma(V --> e(+)e(-)) approximate to 10, 32 for V = J/psi, Upsilon, respectively, and the calculated widths, we find alpha(s)(m(c)) = 0.26-0.29 and alpha(s)(m(b)) = 0.19-0.21 at m(c) = 1.5 GeV and m(b) = 4.9 GeV. These values for the QCD running coupling constant are substantially enhanced, as compared with the ones obtained without relativistic corrections, and are potentially consistent with the QCD scale parameter Lambda(<(MS)over bar>)((4)) approximate to 200 MeV. We emphasize, however, that our numerical results of the running coupling constant mainly serve as an improved estimate rather than a precise determination for which the existing theoretical uncertainties due to higher order relativistic corrections and the scheme dependence of the radiative corrections should be further clarified, and a first principles estimate of the nonperturbative bound-state effects should be further studied.
Lattice calculation of chi(c0) -> 2 gamma decay width

Abstract:We perform a lattice QCD calculation of the chi(c0) -> 2 gamma decay width using a model-independent method that does not require the momentum extrapolation of corresponding off-shell form factors. The simulation is performed on ensembles of N-f = 2 twisted mass lattice QCD gauge configurations with three different lattice spacings. After the continuum extrapolation, the decay width is obtained to be Gamma(gamma gamma)(chi(c0)) = 3.65(83)(stat)(21)(lat.syst)(66)(syst)keV. Regardless of this large statistical error, our result is compatible with the experimental results within 1.3 sigma. Potential improvements of the lattice calculation in the future are also discussed.

Abstract:The ${\ensuremath{\gamma}}^{*}N\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\Delta}(1232)$ transition is a window onto hadron shape deformation, the applicability of perturbative QCD at moderate momentum transfers, and the influence of nonperturbative phenomena on hadronic observables. We explain that the Ash-convention magnetic transition form factor must fall faster than the neutron's magnetic form factor and that nonzero values for the associated quadrupole ratios reveal the impact of quark orbital angular momentum within the nucleon and $\ensuremath{\Delta}(1232)$; and we show that these quadrupole ratios do approach their predicted asymptotic limits, albeit slowly.

Abstract:We estimate the electromagnetic decay rates of $\chi_{c0}\rightarrow \gamma\gamma$ and $\chi_{c2}\rightarrow\gamma\gamma$ by taking into account both relativistic and QCD radiative corrections. The decay rates are derived in the Bethe-Salpeter formalism and the QCD radiative corrections are included in accordance with factorization assumption. Using a QCD-inspired interquark potential, we obtain relativistic BS wavefunctions of $\chi_{c0}$ and $\chi_{c2}$ by solving BS equations for the corresponding $^{2S+1}L_J$ states. Our numerical result for the ratio $R=\frac{\Gamma(\chi_{c0}\rightarrow\gamma\gamma)}{\Gamma(\chi_{c2} \rightarrow\gamma\gamma)}$ is about $11-13$ which agrees with the update E760 experimental data. Explicit calculations show that the relativistic corrections due to spin-dependent interquark forces induced by gluon exchange enhance the ratio $R$ substantially and its value is insensitive to the choice of parameters that characterize the interquark potential. Our expressions for the decay widths are identical with that obtained in the NRQCD theory to the next-to-leading order in $v^2$ and $\alpha_s$. Moreover, we have determined two new coefficents in the nonperturbative matrix elements for these decay widths.

Abstract:A generalized formalism of QCD multipole expansion including constituent-quark-field quantization is proposed. It can be applied to study soft-gluon emission processes of heavy-quark-antiquark systems with quark-flavor changing or quark pair annihilation. As an application, the radiative decays $\frac{J}{\ensuremath{\psi}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\gamma}+\ensuremath{\eta}$ and $\frac{J}{\ensuremath{\psi}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\gamma}+{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$ are studied in this framework. It is shown that $\frac{J}{\ensuremath{\psi}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\gamma}+\ensuremath{\eta}$ is dominated by a vector-meson-dominance mechanism in which the vector mesons are $n^{3}S_{1}$ states of $c\overline{c}$ and the calculated rate is in agreement with the experiment. The decay $\frac{J}{\ensuremath{\psi}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\gamma}+{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{0}$ is dominated by a different vector-meson-dominance mechanism in which the vector meson is ${\ensuremath{\rho}}^{0}$.
Pseudoscalar Heavy Quarkonium Decays with Both Relativistic and QCD Radiative Corrections

Abstract:We estimate the decay rates of eta(c)--> 2 gamma, eta(c)' --> 2 gamma and J/psi --> e(+)e(-), psi' --> e(+)e(-), by taking into account both relativistic and QCD radiative corrections. The decay amplitudes are derived in the Bethe-Salpeter formalism. The Bethe-Salpeter equation with a QCD-inspired interquark potential is used to calculate the wave functions and decay widths for these cc states. We find that the relativistic correction to the ratio R equivalent to Gamma(eta(c) --> 2 gamma)/Gamma(J/psi --> e(+)e(-)) is negative and tends to compensate the positive contribution from the QCD radiative correction. Our estimates give Gamma(eta(c) --> 2 gamma)=(6 - 7) keV and Gamma(eta(c)' - 2 gamma) = 2 keV, which are smaller than their nonrelativistic values. The hadronic widths Gamma(eta(c) --> 2g)=(17-23) MeV and Gamma(eta(c)' --> 2g)=(5-7) MeV are then indicated accordingly to the first-order QCD radiative correction, if alpha(s)(m(c))= 0.26 - 0.29. The decay widths for the b (b) over bar states are also estimated. We show that when making the assumption that the quarks are on their mass shells our expressions for the decay widths will become identical to that in the nonrelativistic QCD theory to the next to leading order of upsilon(2) and alpha(s).
Ward identity of the vector current and the decay rate of eta(c) -> plus gamma gamma in lattice QCD

Abstract:Using a recently proposed method [Y. Meng, C. Liu, and K. L. Zhang, arXiv:1910.11597v3], we study the two-photon decay rate of eta(c) using two N-f = 2 twisted mass gauge ensembles with lattice spacings 0.067 fm and 0.085 fm. The results obtained from these two ensembles can be extrapolated in a naive fashion to the continuum limit, yielding a result that is consistent with the experimental one within two standard deviations. To be specific, we obtain the results for two-photon decay of eta(c) as B(eta(c) -> 2 gamma) = 1.29(3) (18) x 10(-4) where the first error is statistical and the second is our estimate for the systematic error caused by the finite lattice spacing. It turns out that Ward identity for the vector current is of vital importance within this new method. We verify that the Ward identity is violated for local current with a finite lattice spacing, however it will be restored after the continuum limit is taken.

Abstract:We report on the progress in the computation of the beta-functions of phi^4 theory and QCD in the large N expansion. For the former we give an analytic formula for the critical exponent which encodes higher order coefficients in the series beyond those currently known in the MSbar scheme at O(1/N^2) in a large N expansion. This allows us to deduce new coefficients in the field anomalous dimension which relate to Kreimer's knot theory of the divergences of a quantum field theory. A similar exponent is computed for the beta-function of QCD at O(1/N_f).

Electromagnetic form factors of the transition from the Delta to the nucleon

Abstract:The low-energy electromagnetic form factors of the $\Delta$(1232)-to-nucleon transition are derived combining dispersion theory techniques and chiral perturbation theory. The form factors are expressed in terms of the well-understood pion vector form factor and pion-baryon scattering amplitudes. Nucleon and Delta exchange terms and contact terms constitute the input for these pion-baryon amplitudes. The framework is formulated for all form factors. When comparing to experimental data in the spacelike region of $e^- N \to e^- \Delta$ scattering, the focus lies on the numerically dominant magnetic dipole transition form factor. Fitting two subtraction constants (one for the scattering amplitude, one for the form factor) yields a very good description of this dominant form factor up to photon virtualities of about 0.6 GeV. After determining the subtraction constants in the spacelike region and at the photon point, respectively, predictions for the timelike region of Dalitz decays $\Delta \to N \, e^+ e^-$ are presented.

Abstract:We study the scaling regime of nucleon-anti-nucleon annihilation into a deeply virtual photon and a photon or meson, \bar p N -> gamma ^* pi, \bar p N -> gamma ^* gamma, in the forward direction. The leading twist amplitude factorizes into an antiproton distribution amplitude, a short-distance matrix element and a long-distance dominated transition distribution amplitude (TDA) which describes the nucleon to meson or photon transition. The impact representation of this TDA maps out the transverse locations of the small size core and the meson or photon cloud inside the proton.

Qcd Predictions for Annihilation Decays of P-Wave Quarkonia to Next-To-Leading Order in Alpha(S)

Abstract:The decay rates of P-wave heavy quarkonia to light hadrons are presented to leading order in upsilon(2) and next-to-leading order in alpha(s). They include contributions from both the color-singlet component and the color-octet component of quarkonia. Applying these results to charmonium and using measuring decay rates for the chi(c1) and chi(c2) by E760, we determine the two nonperturbative decay matrix elements, and then predict the hadronic decay rates of chi(c0) and h(c), and the electromagnetic decay rates of chi(c0) and chi(c2). The obtained decay rates of chi(c0) --> LH and chi(c0) --> gamma gamma are in agreement with the Crystal ball results, and also with the new measurements by BES. However, the results for Gamma(chi(c0) --> LH) are dependent on the choice of renormalization scale.
Searching for $|V_{cd}|$ through the exclusive decay $D_s^+ \to K^0e^+ν_e$ within QCD Sum Rules

Abstract:In this paper, we carry out an investigation into the semileptonic decays $D_s^+ \to K^0\ell^+\nu_\ell$ with $\ell=(e,\mu)$ by employing the QCD light-cone sum rules approach. The vector transition form factor (TFF) $f_+^{D_s^+ K^0}(q^2)$ for $D_s^+\to K^0$ decay is calculated while considering its next-to-leading order contribution. Subsequently, we briefly introduce the twist-2, 3 kaon distribution amplitudes, which are calculated by using QCD sum rules within the framework of the background field theory. At the large recoil point, the TFF has $f_+^{D_s^+ K^0}(0)=0.692_{-0.026}^{+0.027}$. Then, we extrapolate $f_+^{D_s^+ K^0}(q^2)$ to the whole physical $q^2$-region via the simplified $z(q^2,t)$-series expansion, and the behavior of TFF $f_+^{D_s^+ K^0}(q^2)$ is exhibited in the numerical results part, including the theoretical and experimental predictions for comparison. In addition, we compute the differential branching fraction $\mathcal{B}(D_s^+ \to K^0\ell^+\nu_\ell)$ with the electron and muon channels, which are expected to be $\mathcal{B}(D_s^+ \to K^0e^+\nu_e)=3.379_{-0.275}^{+0.301}\times 10^{-3}$ and $\mathcal{B}(D_s^+ \to K^0\mu^+\nu_\mu)=3.351_{-0.273}^{+0.299}\times 10^{-3}$ as well as contained other results for comparison. Our results show good agreement with the BESIII measurements and theoretical predictions. Furthermore, we present our prediction with respect to the CKM matrix element $|V_{cd}|$ by using the $\mathcal{B}(D_s^+ \to K^0e^+\nu_e)$ result from BESIII Collaboration, yielding $|V_{cd}|=0.221_{-0.010}^{+0.008}$. Finally, we provide the ratio between $D_s^+ \to K^0e^+\nu_e$ and $D_s^+ \to \eta e^+\nu_e$ channels, i.e. $\mathcal{R}_{K^0/\eta}^e=0.144_{-0.020}^{+0.028}$.

Abstract:In Ref. [1] we have presented the results of an exploratory lattice QCD computation of the long-distance contribution to the K+ -> pi(+)nu(nu) over bar decay amplitude. In the present paper we describe the details of this calculation, which includes the implementation of a number of novel techniques. The K+ -> pi(+)nu(nu) over bar decay amplitude is dominated by short-distance contributions which can be computed in perturbation theory with the only required nonperturbative input being the relatively well-known form factors of semileptonic kaon decays. The long-distance contributions, which are the target of this work, are expected to be of O(5%) in the branching ratio. Our study demonstrates the feasibility of lattice QCD computations of the K+ -> pi(+)nu(nu) over bar decay amplitude, and in particular of the long-distance component. Though this calculation is performed on a small lattice (16(3) x 32) and at unphysical pion, kaon and charm quark masses, m(pi) = 420 MeV, m(K) = 563 MeV and m(c)((MS) over bar) (2 GeV) = 863 MeV, the techniques presented in this work can readily be applied to a future realistic calculation.
