Abstract:In this paper, we obtain a complete classification under unitary equivalence for Hardy submodules on the polydisk which are generated by ideals of polynomials. Let I be an ideal of polynomials in n variables. Since I is generated by finitely many polynomials, I has a greatest common divisor p. So, I can be uniquely written as I=p L which is called the Beurling form of I. Let I1=p1L1, I2=p2L2. We prove that [I1] and [I2] are unitarily equivalent if and only if there are polynomials q1 and q2 with Z(q1)∩Dn=Z(q2)∩Dn=∅ such that |p1q1|=|p2q2| on Tn, and [p1L1]=[p1L2]. Consequently, two principal submodules [p1] and [p2] are unitarily equivalent if and only if there are polynomials q1 and q2 with Z(q1)∩Dn=Z(q2)∩Dn=∅ such that |p1q1|=|p2q2| on Tn. Furthermore, we give a complete similarity classification for submodules generated by homogeneous ideals. Finally, we point out that in the case of the Hardy module on the unit ball, [I1] and [I2] are unitarily equivalent if and only if they are equal. If I1 and I2 are homogeneous ideals, then [I1] and [I2] are quasi-similar if and only if I1=I2.

Abstract:In this paper, we give a complete characterization for the essential normality of quasi-homogenous quotient modules of the Hardy modules $$H^2 \left( {\mathbb{D}^2 } \right)$$. Also, we show that if d ≥ 3, then all the principle homogenous quotient modules of $$H^2 \left( {\mathbb{D}^d } \right)$$ are not essentially normal.

Abstract:In this paper, the Ext groups of Hardy modules over the polydisk algebra A(D^n) are calculated, Of particular importance is that the calculating of Ext-groups is closely related to harmonic analysis of polydisks. Finally, the authors point out that Ext-groups reveal rigidity of Hardy submodules over A(D^n) for n > 1.

Abstract:Beurling's classical theorem gives a complete characterization of all invariant subspaces in the Hardy space H-2(D). To generalize the theorem to higher dimensions, one is naturally led to determining the structure of each unitary equivalence (resp. similarity) class. This, in turn, requires finding podal (resp. s-podal) points in unitary (resp. similarity) orbits. In this note, we find that H-outer (resp. G-outer) functions play an important role in finding podal (resp. s-podal) points. By the methods developed in this note, we can assess when a unitary (resp. similarity) orbit contains a podal (resp. an s-podal) point, and hence provide examples of orbits without such points.

Abstract:For a Hardy submodule M of H-2(D-n), assume that M boolean AND C (or M boolean AND R) is dense in M, where C (or R) is the ring of all polynomials (or R is a Noetherian subring of Hol((D) over bar(n)) containing C). We describe those finite codimensional submodules of M by considering zero varieties. The codimension formulas related to zero varieties, and some algebraic reduction theorems are obtained. These results can be regarded as generalizations of the result of Ahern-Clark ([2]). Finally, we point out that the results in this paper extend with essentially no change to any reproducing Hilbert A(Omega)-module H which satisfies certain technical hypotheses.

Abstract:The Hardy space H 2 (D 2 ) over the bidisk is a module over the polynomial ring C[z 1 , z 2 ]. This paper studies two natural objects associated with submodules in H 2 (D 2 ), namely the core fraction and the core operator. Boundary values of the core function exhibit. a Beurling-type phenomenon, and the Hilbert-Schmidt norm of the core operator is shown to be an important numerical invariant of M. For a homogeneous ideal I ⊂ C[z i ,z 2 ], let I = pL be its Beurling form; then it is shown that the core operator for the submodule [I] is of finite rank if and only if p = z k 1z 2 for some nonnegative integers k, .
Topological properties of some classes of submodules

Abstract:We study the topology of a class of proper submodules and some of its distinguished subclasses and call them structure spaces. We give several criteria for the quasi-compactness of these structure spaces. We study $T_0$ and $T_1$ separation properties and characterize structure spaces in which nonempty irreducible closed subsets have unique generic points. We provide a sufficient condition for the connectedness of structure spaces. We prove that the structure spaces of proper submodules are spectral, and moreover, we characterize the spectral structure spaces of Noetherian modules. Finally, we discuss continuous functions between these spaces.

Abstract:This paper mainly concerns defect operators and defect functions of Hardy submodules, Bergman submodules over the unit ball, and Hardy submodules over the polydisk. The defect operator (function) carries key information about operator theory (function theory) and structure of analytic submodules. The problem when a submodule has finite defect is attacked for both Hardy submodules and Bergman submodules. Our interest will be in submodules generated by polynomials. The reason for choosing such submodules is to understand the interaction of operator theory, function theory and algebraic geometry.

Abstract:It is well known that a polynomial in one variable is completely determined by its zeros (counting multiplicities). We generalize this result to an ideal of polynomials in several variables by introducing the characteristic spaces of the ideal. One finds that the ideal is completely determined by its characteristic spaces on a characteristic set. In particular, a primary ideal is completely determined by its characteristic space at any zero point. Some straightforward applications of the above results yield the algebraic reduction theorem for analytic Hilbert modules in several variables. Also, we obtain some general rigidity results for analytic Hilbert modules by using the techniques of AF-envelopes of analytic Hilbert modules.

Abstract:We give divisibility results for the (global) characteristic varieties of hypersurface complements expressed in terms of the local characteristic varieties at points along one of the irreducible components of the hypersurface. As an application, we recast old and obtain new finiteness and divisibility results for the classical (infinite cyclic) Alexander modules of complex hypersurface complements. Moreover, for the special case of hyperplane arrangements, we translate our divisibility results for characteristic varieties in terms of the corresponding resonance varieties.

Abstract:Guo and the second author have shown that the closure [I] in the Drury–Arveson space of a homogeneous principal ideal I in C[z1,…,zn] is essentially normal. In this note, the authors extend this result to the closure of any principal polynomial ideal in the Bergman space. In particular, the commutators and cross-commutators of the restrictions of the multiplication operators are shown to be in the Schatten p-class for p>n. The same is true for modules generated by polynomials with vector-valued coefficients. Further, the maximal ideal space XI of the resulting C⁎-algebra for the quotient module is shown to be contained in Z(I)∩∂Bn, where Z(I) is the zero variety for I, and to contain all points in ∂Bn that are limit points of Z(I)∩Bn. Finally, the techniques introduced enable one to study a certain class of weight Bergman spaces on the ball.

Abstract:A large part of the theory of Hardy spaces on products of Euclidean spaces has been extended to the setting of products of stratified Lie groups. This includes characterisation of Hardy spaces by square functions and by atomic decompositions, proof of the duality of Hardy spaces with BMO, and description of many interpolation spaces. Until now, however, two aspects of the classical theory have been conspicuously absent: the characterisation of Hardy spaces by singular integrals (of Christ--Geller type) or by (vertical or nontangential) maximal functions. In this paper we fill in these gaps by developing new techniques on products of stratified groups, using the ideas of Chen, Cowling, Lee, Li and Ottazzi on the Heisenberg group with flag structure.

Abstract:We introduce a Grassmannian structure for a class of quotient Hilbert modules and attack the polydisc version of Arveson-Douglas conjecture associated to distinguished varieties. More interestingly, we obtain an operator-theoretic characterization of distinguished varieties in the bidisk in terms of essential normality of the quotient modules. As an application, we study the K-homology of the boundary of distinguished variety.

Classification of weak Bruhat interval modules of $0$-Hecke algebras

Abstract:Weak Bruhat interval modules of the $0$-Hecke algebra in type $A$ provide a uniform approach to studying modules associated with noteworthy families of quasisymmetric functions. Recently this kind of modules were generalized from type $A$ to all Coxeter types. In this paper, we give an equivalent description, in a type-independent manner, when two left weak Bruhat intervals in a Coxeter group are descent-preserving isomorphic. As an application, we classify all left weak Bruhat interval modules of $0$-Hecke algebras up to isomorphism, and thereby answer an open question and resolve in the affirmative a conjecture of Jung, Kim, Lee, and Oh. Additionally, for finite Coxeter groups we show that the set of minimum (or maximum) elements of all left weak Bruhat intervals in each descent-preserving isomorphism class forms an interval under the right weak Bruhat order.

Abstract:We generalize the classification of isomorphism classes of Schubert varieties from complete flag varieties G/B to a class of partial flag varieties G/P. In particular, we classify all Schubert varieties in G/P where P is a minimal parabolic subgroup, and all Schubert surfaces which are two-dimensional Schubert varieties.
