Abstract:The key to achieve an overall economic growth for the developing countries,to some extent is financial deepening because it can reduce the credit constraint on household consumption,release consumption ability of residents and add more potential to the consumption-oriented economic growth.It is even more so in the case of China.Yet based on the life cycle hypothesis on consumption of Modigliani,the aging population will as well render effects upon household consumption.When they conspire to bring effects upon household consumption,they will as well bring it to the limelight.The thesis makes an empirical analysis based on VAR and VEC models among the four variables,i.e.consumption ratio,juvenile dependency ratio,aged-dependency ratio and financial liberalization index via the software of Eviews 6.0.It conducts a quantitative study on qualitative basis.The results show that juvenile dependency ratio,aged-dependency ratio and financial liberalization are among the Granger-cause of household consumption rate.Yet juvenile dependency ratio renders the most significant effects upon household consumption rate while aged dependency ratio and financial liberalization exert short-term impacts on consumption which will tend to be steady for the time being.The deepening of financial liberalization makes available the inter-temporal consumption and multi-channels of investment which in turn alleviate the income pressure of residents.A change happens on their fertility decision-making and leads to the increase of juvenile dependency ratio.
