The Hazard Assessment of Typhoon in Southeast Coastal Areas of China

Abstract:Based on the data of typhoons in 1990-2007,we establish database on typhoon disaster in southeast areas of China and analyze the intensity,movement path and distribution of typhoon hazard factors.We selected the typhoon induced strong wind,a 24-hour rainfall,storm surge and disaster number as evaluation indicators,and calculated the disaster sub-index and compiled the hazard distribution map of typhoon disaster in southeastern coastal areas during 1990-2007.The results show that south coastal areas of Zhejiang and Fujian Provinces and most parts of Guangdong Province are most affected,while north Zhejiang Province,inland areas and Shanghai are less affected,which are closely related to the intensity and frequency of typhoon landfall.The most dangerous areas are the coastal areas to the south of Taizhou City,Zhejiang Province and the less dangerous areas are the inland areas of Zhejiang,Fujian and Guangdong Provinces.The sub-index is decreasing from coastal areas to inland areas.
