Abstract:The six new bis-1H-pyrazoles were synthesized by the cyclization of bis-β-diketones with hydrazine hydrate in methanol. Their structures were characterized by IR, 1HNMR, ESI-MS and elemental analysis. The fluorescence properties of these bis-1H-pyrazoles were studied in detail by UV–vis and fluorescence spectroscopic techniques. These compounds exhibited violet fluorescence emission at 392–398 nm and demonstrated high extinction coefficients. The results indicated that the fluorescence intensity and quantum yield could be significantly enhanced by introducing phenyl moieties into pyrazole ring. Especially, these bis-1H-pyrazoles exhibited large Stokes shifts (∆λ = 140−156 nm) due to the rotation of the π-conjugated substituent in their molecular structures. In addition, the crystal structure of the hydrate (a-H2O) for 2,6-dimethyl-3- (5-methyl-1H-pyrazol-3-yl)-5-(3-methyl-1H-pyrazol-5-yl)pyridine (a) was studied using X-ray crystal structure analysis. In the solid state, water molecules in dimers interact with adjacent bis-1H-pyrazole molecules through intermolecular hydrogen-bonding interactions to form a three-dimensional hydrogen bond network structure.
