Abstract:Fan Wu Liu Xing,recorded in The Chu Bamboo Slips of Warring States Collected by Shanghai Museum(Vol.Ⅶ),is an important newly excavated literature which has a unique theme with thought of Taoism and Legalism."Ju" of "Yin Yang Zhi Ju" should pronounce "Chu" and explained as the place of position;The character interpreted as "Ci" by original researcher is actually "Zhou" and pronounced "Shou"."Shou Yi" can be contrasted with some statements in "Shi Da Jing" of Ma Wang Dui Silk Books and other ancient literatures.

Abstract:ABSTRACT Both the paper and the author's presentation. The paper deals with the oracle-bone inscriptions referring to Fu Hao (or Zi), indirectly addressing the question whether this Fu Hao is the same person as the one mentioned in the bronze inscriptions from M5 at Anyang. The combined researches of Shima Kunio and Yen I-p'ing have already established that all but one of the 262 Fu Zi oracle inscriptions so far known are from Tung Tso-pin's Period I. The only doubtful instance remaining is Jiabian 668, dated by Shima to Tung's Period IV. The main reason for this dating was the shape of the graph used for the character wu . On Jiabian 668, this graph is rendered as , whereas according to the received opinion it should, in Period I, have been 1, or 8. Chang Ping-Ch'üan, however, had also observed the graph in Period I oracle bones. Therefore he agreed with Hu Houxuan's opinion that Jiabian 668 ought to date from Period I. Among Tung Tso-pin's criteria for dating oracle bones, calligraphic style was decidedly the weakest, and it should not be made the basis for far-reaching arguments. There is a logical flaw in dating Jiabian 668 to Period IV and at the same time assuming that Fu Hao was Wu Ding's consort. Neiteher Wu Yi nor Wenwu Ding could have referred to her as fu , but would have had to address her as mu , or bi , or gaobi . Yen-I-p'ing's hypothesis that Jiabian 668 was inscribed when Fu Hao had already long been dead did not take this into account.

Abstract:Considering the status of Mei Cheng's Qi Fa, Sima Xiangru's Tianzi Youlie Fu and Yang Xiong's Ganquan Fu, historians of Classical Chinese Literature don't pay enough attention to Ban Gu's Liangdu Fu which can't be substituted in history. Liangdu Fu solves the conflicts between aesthetical taste and political-ethical concerns of traditional Da Fu, corrects its structural defects, embodies Ban Gu's high consciousness that determines the nature of Han-dynasty and the direction of Han Fu or Han Literature. Rather than the works above, Liangdu Fu does characterize Han Fu. So we should think highly of Liangdu Fu which is the landmark in the history of Han Fu.
On the Duke Luyang Castling the Zheng in the Baoshan Chu Bamboo Slips

Abstract:In the Chu bamboo slips excavated in the Baoshan cemetery in Jingmen, Hubei Province, there is a bamboo slip recorded the year that Duke Luyang led the soldiers of Chu to castle the Zheng. Duke Luyang, named after Luyangwenjun or wenzi, was the first viceroy of Luyang County appointed by the King Hui of Chu. In the 8th year of the reign of the King Dao, the Zheng state's government had trouble and Duke Luyang had the mind to attack it. However, Mozi dissuaded him. Then the Chu state took the side with the Zheng and guarded against the Han, and Duke Luyang had fight with the army of Han. The incident of castling the Zheng was taken place at this time. It must be written down afterwards for the Baoshan tomb 2 was buried in the reign of the King Huai of Chu.

Abstract:In the Bamboo Slips Kept in Tsinghua University,there are 20 pieces of SHANGSHU,YIZHOUSHU and the lost SHANGSHU.The Bamboo Slips "Jinteng" has a direct relation with the new text SHANGSHU handed down from Fu Sheng.From the Bamboo Slips Kept in Tsinghua University,we can neither prove nor deny the point of view that Confucius has edited the 100 pieces of SHANGSHU.However,it can show that the old text SHANGSHU,coming from the East-Jin Dynasty,has no historical evidences.In the Bamboo Slips Kept in Tsinghua University,"Yingao" and "Yinzhi" have some words and expressions which are similar with "Xiashu" and "Shangshu" in the new text SHANGSHU.For there are no differences between SHANGSHU and YIZHOUSHU in the Bamboo Slips Kept in Tsinghua University,we should appraise higher some pieces in the YIZHOUSHU.

Abstract:The inscriptions on the stone blocks used as the building materials of the Beizhuang Han Tomb in Dingzhou City,Hebei contained very rich place name information,which provided important clues for the researches on the styles of the tombs of the feudatory lords in the Hebei area during the Han Dynasty and the changes of the territory of the Zhongshan Kingdom in the Western and Eastern Han Dynasties.By the trimming and classifying of the place names in the stone inscriptions,this paper pointed out that the style of the Beizhuang Han Tomb had relationships with that of the feudatory lord tombs of the Han Dynasty at the border between Shandong and Henan Provinces,and the county names under the administration of Zhongshan Kingdom seen in the stone inscriptions of the Beizhuang Han Tomb could be used to restore the territory of Zhongshan Kingdom in the early Eastern Han Dynasty.By comparing with the county names under the administration of Zhongshan Kingdom seen in the historic literatures,the outline of the changes of the territory of Zhongshan Kingdom in the Western and Eastern Han Dynasties could be drawn out.

Abstract:Abstract A single bamboo slip was found at Mawangdui tomb M2 inside the passageway leading to the pit where Li Cang (d. ca. 186 BCE), the Marquis of Dai and Prime Minister of Changsha, was buried. Though almost entirely unnoticed in previous scholarship, the M2 slip has much to tell us about the overlapping textual, ritual, administrative, and funerary practices of early Western Han China. I offer a description of the slip, translations of its contents, a consideration of how it was used at the tomb site, and an analysis of what its archaeological context tells us about the use of talismans in Western Han burials. Specifically, I show that the slip originally formed part of a multi-piece tomb inventory manuscript, and that it was removed and ritually deposited inside the passageway in order to protect the tomb from robbers and malevolent spirits.

Abstract:‘Huangchangticou’ (黄肠题凑), one special type of burial in the Han Dynasty, has been explained in various ways by scholars in different dynasties. Although some archaeological examples have been found already, the understandings of ‘bianfang’(便房) were still quite diverse. In conjunction with critical review of historical texts and recently archaeological discoveries, this paper proves that ‘bianfang’, which is one element of ‘huangchangticou’, means chamber. ‘Bianfang’ were called as ‘biangguo’(便椁) or ‘zhengcang’(正藏)in some cases. So ‘bianfang’ in Han Emperor's mausoleums should refer to central main palace as described by Ruchun (如淳) rather than accessorial palace on sideways.

Abstract:In the note of"Anthology of the Flute Proclamation", Li Shan speculated that Mei Sheng wrote Sheng Fu. His speculation was once widely recognized before Cheng Zhangcan and Zhang Wei questioned who speculated that Mei wrote Qin Fu as some part of Qi Fa. However,their speculations still face some questions. Combined with the text dissemination of the Pre-Qin and Han dynasties, this paper puts that Ma Rong might refer to the"Qin"part in Qi Fa which was supposed to be written after Fu Yi's Dongxiao Fu and was separated from Qi Fa,spreading in the name of Qin Fu.

Abstract:920 pieces of bamboo slip, including broken bamboo slips, found in Laoguanshan Han tomb, are placed in two locations. In one of the location, 736 pieces, except 20 pieces of " chi jian" , of medical bamboo slips are stored. The Chengdu Municipal Institute of Archaeology and Cultural Relics Protection Center of Jingzhou preliminary sorted out these pieces and tentatively give them the names: Wu se mai zang lun, Bi xi yi lun, Mai si hou, Liu shi bing fang, Bing yuan lun, Zhu bing zheng hou, Jing mai shu, Gui mai shu. Through our comprehensive reading, font comparison, comparison of the contents, and investigation on the texts, it was suggested that the batch of medical slips might be divided into nine kinds of documents, namely, Bi xi zhen fa, Zhen zhi lun, Liu shi bing fang, Zhu bing yi, Zhu bing er, Shi er mai, Bie mai, Ci shu, Ni shun wu se mai zang yan jing shen.

Abstract:Tomb No. 2 of Tushan in Xuzhou is the tomb of King Chu of the Eastern Han Dynasty, and it was an important archaeological discovery in China. The unique placement and crafting techniques of a lacquer coffin that was unearthed from the burial corridor are of significant importance in the study of tombs. In order to characterise the sample's microstructure, elemental composition, and structural composition, as well as to study the crafting techniques of the coffin in the corridor, a range of analytical techniques were employed, including ultra-depth microscopy, scanning electron microscopy with SEM-EDS, Raman spectroscopy, FTIR, and XRD. The results indicate that the cross-sectional structure of the fragments comprises a pigment layer and a lacquer ash layer, with the latter being further divided into tile ash and bone ash layers. No lacquer film layer was observed. The primary colouring agent in the pigment layer was HgS, which contained a minor quantity of organic binder. The primary component of the tile ash layer was quartz, while the osseous ash layer comprised particles and collagen derived from mammalian bones. The lacquer crafting technique employed in the construction of the coffin was relatively simple and inconsistent with the assumption of it having a noble status. The findings of this research offer experimental data for the identification, preservation, and technical restoration of the corridor coffin in the future.

Abstract:Critics of all ages have believed that the Fu in Sheng Gao Neng Fu(One can compose Fu when reaching heights) and Sou Fu(Blind Fu) in The Mao School on the Study of The Book of Songs both refers to the composition of poetry.This article,by examining the literary development from the oral creation to written composition in the pre-Qin era,argues that the Fu in the above two quotations very probably refers to the rhymed prose of oral creation of the early period.It could be inferred therefrom that the genre of Fu had already existed before Xun and Song.
