Abstract:Drivers' scrambling behaviors are one of the major reasons of traffic accidents in China. This study aims at exploring the interactive features of drivers'scrambling behaviors with pedestrians. In this study,an interventional experiment was designed. Both interventional video monitoring and non-interventional fixed-point monitoring were used.Drivers' scrambling behaviors and the corresponding pedestrians' crossing behaviors were recorded.Based on the characteristics of pedestrians' crossing behaviors, drivers' scrambling behaviors were classified and the degree of the severity of scrambling behaviors was defined. In the interventional experiment, the frequencies and severity of the participants' scrambling behaviors were recorded and the parameters of scrambling behaviors were obtained.Correlation analysis between the questionnaire information and scrambling behaviors indicates that drivers' scrambling behaviors over pedestrian crossings are very common.Female drivers are recorded more severe scrambling behaviors and drivers with driving experience of more than ten years are recorded the least scrambling behaviors.
