Abstract:The Biaryl-bridged Salen Ti complexes are a high active catalyst at substrate-to-catalyst ratios as high as 1 000:1 in the reaction of asymmetric addition of trimethylsilyl cyanide to aldehydes,and the optimal catalyst 4 derived from(R,R)-1,2-diaminocyclohexane and 3,5-di-tert-butyl-2-hydroxybenzaldehyde produces trimethylsilyl ethers of cyanohydrins with up to 87% enantiomeric excess at ambient temperature.

Abstract:Methyl 3-oxo-2,6,6-trimethylcyclohex-1-ene-1-carboxylate was synthesised over eight steps from the starting material of citral instead of α-ionone. KMnO4, HC(OEt)3 and O2/TEMPO/CuCl were substituted for NaIO4, CH3I and pyridinium chlorochromate, respectively. Every step was simplified and gave a 48% overall yield. The procedure is suitable for large scale production.

Abstract:Condensation of aromatic aldehydes with cyclopentanone and cyclohexanone using amino-functionalized ionic liquid, 1-aminoethyl-3-methyl tetrafluoroborate as solvent and catalyst was successfully performed for preparation of alpha,alpha'-bis(substituted benzylidene)cycloalkanones. The catalyst can be recovered and reused for at least three times without apparently lose of activity. The process is simple, environmentally benign and proceeds in excellent yields.

Abstract:Conjugate addition of (E)-3-trimethylsilyl-1-propenylziroconocene to (E,E)-divinylketones in the presence of catalytic amount of CuBr.SMe 2 affords (E)-allylsilanes containing (E)-α,β-unsaturated carbonyl moiety under mild conditions with good yield. Abstract:Condensation of alpha,beta-unsaturated carbonyl compounds with gamma-trimethylsilylmethylallylzircocene followed by anionic oxy-Cope rearrangement provided a novel method for the synthesis of functionalized allylsilanes compounds possessing a carbonyl group in the same molecule, which are versatile intermediates for intramolecular allylsilylation, giving cyclopentanols on treatment wit n-Bu4NF.

Abstract:An efficient synthetic method for chiral trisubstituted diarylcyclopropanecarboaldehydes has been developed from substituted benzyl chloride and alpha,beta-unsaturated aldehydes. The reactions were catalyzed by chiral amine catalyst under mild condition to afford the chiral diarylcyclopropanecarboaldehydes in good to high yields and up to excellent enantioselectivities. Abstract:A highly stereoselective synthesis of a spiro-cineole scaffold that contains four stereogenic centers from readily accessible 2-alkynylbenzaldehydes and styrenes under very mild reaction conditions was reported. This cascade reaction involves a Ag(I)-catalyzed alkyne cycloisomerization and oxa-[4 + 2]-cycloaddition to give an oxonium intermediate which subsequently undergoes a previously unexplored 1,2-alkyl migration to access highly strained spiro-2-oxabicyclo[2.2.2]octanes in high yields with excellent stereoselectivities. © 2019 American Chemical Society.

Abstract:A series ofα,α'-bis(substituted benzylidene)cycloalkanones were synthesized by condensation reaction of aromatic aldehydes with cyclohexanone ketal or cyclopentanone ketal using strong-acid cation exchange resin Amberlyst 15 as catalyst in ethanol media. The reactions were completed during 2~6 h with 80%~92%yields. The structure of the products was characterized by IR, 1HNMR, MS and the melting point. The products were convenient to work up. This process is simple, efficient, environmentally benign and without any self-condensation.

Abstract:This article describes the design and optimization of an effective organocatalytic three-component domino alpha-methylenation/Diels-Alder reaction to produce vinyl-substituted cyclohexenecarboxaldehydes in a highly regioselective fashion. In these one-pot transformations, 2-formyl-1,3-butadienes (4) were prepared in situ from alpha,beta-unsaturated aldehydes and formalin and were subsequently trapped with a variety of buta-1,3-dienes. The outcomes of the reactions were dependent on the electronic properties of the dienes. 1-Vinylcyclohexenecarbaldehydes 6 were formed by use of acyclic electron-rich dienes, while the initially formed cycloadducts of 4 with cyclopentadiene underwent Cope rearrangements, leading to the formation of tetrahydro-3H-indene-5-carbaldehyde compounds 7. The mechanisms involved in these reactions were deduced from experimental findings. Furthermore, the method was also extended to one-pot domino methylenation/Diels-Alder reactions of dihydrofurans and dihydropyrans to yield spirocyclic lactols 22. In these reactions, the unstable intermediate hydroxyethyl and hydroxypropyl acroleins behaved as dienophiles, undergoing cycloaddition reactions with dienes with good yields and selectivities. The wide variety of functionalized 1-vinylcyclohex-3-enecarbaldehydes 6, 4-vinylcyclohex-1-enecarbaldehydes 7, and spiro lactols 22 generated through the use of these organocatalytic domino processes as a diversity-oriented synthesis provided useful intermediates for the construction of novel odorants.

Abstract:A facile access to thiazolidin-4-ones from alpha-enolic dithioesters and alpha-halohydroxamates in situ derived active 1,3-dipolar aza-oxyallyl cations was achieved under mild conditions. These five-membered heterocycles with Z-exocyclic double bonds and diverse substituents can be readily obtained via a regio- and stereoselective formal [3+2] cycloaddition pathway.

Abstract:A NaI-catalyzed reaction of 3,3-bis(alkoxycarbonyl)cyclopropenes in the presence of 1,1-bis(phenylsulfonyl)ethylene providing an efficient route to a series of polyfunctionalized vinyl cyclopropanes is described. The reaction is general for a range of different 3,3-bis(alkoxycarbonyl)cyclopropenes affording the products in moderate to high yields. A plausible rationale for this transformation is discussed.

Abstract:Enantioselective synthesis of (spiro)cyclobutane derivatives poses significant challenges yet holds promising applications for both synthetic and medicinal chemistry. We report here a nickel-catalyzed asymmetric syn-hydrometalative 4-exo-trig cyclization of alkynones to synthesize alkenyl cyclobutanols with a tetrasubstituted stereocenter. This strategy features a broad substrate scope, delivering a variety of trifluoromethyl-containing rigid (spiro)carbocycle skeletons in good yields and high enantioselectivities (up to 84% yield and 98.5:1.5 er). The synthetic utility is demonstrated through stereospecific transformations into fused spirocycles. Experimental and computational mechanistic studies indicate that the reaction is initiated by an active Ni–H species, with carbonyl-directed hydrometalation as the key for regioselective control. This catalytic method provides a general solution for regioselective hydrofunctionalization of alkynes and represents an efficient reaction pattern for assembling highly strained enantioenriched bioisosteres.
