The Current Reforms in General Education and the Educational Rationale of Harvard University

Abstract:In February of 2007,the Task Force on General Education of Harvard University released the Report of the Task Force on General Education,as a result of the new curriculum reforms since the beginning of new century.One of the most impressive changes is that a new general education program is recommended to replace the Core curriculum which has a history of almost thirty years.This article analyzes the background,the goals,the plan and the principles of the reform,so as to offer some useful suggestions for our researchers as well as innovators in the field of higher education.
