Abstract:For improving the stability, reliability, and convenient safeguard in network systems, a new method for network fault detection based on the network device running status was proposed. Using the feature of real network and SNMP(simple network management protocol) and TELNET(telecommunication network protocol), the realization of multi-agent network management systems was discussed. The network management system is characterized by rapid network fault detection, determination and treatment, which has intelligence and capacity for self-study, and also shortens the time of network fault (response) and treatment, thus the reliability of the network was improved. With the use of multi-Agent technology, the new way for studying network management has advantages of simple calculation, rapid fault detection, etc.
Dynamic Network Management System Model Based on Java and Simple Network Management Protocol

Abstract:A new dynamic hierarchical network management system model based on Java and Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is proposed. The model supports dynamic information model upgrades of mid-level manager. The mobile code mechanism is implemented using Java dynamic class loader and reflection. The security is guaranteed by using security mechanism of SNMP v3. A prototype is implemented and some upgrade use cases is described to show the availability of the model. The performance including time consume is measured and analyzed. The experimental results show that systems based on this model are simple, elegant, flexible and practical.

Abstract:This paper proposes a framework based completely on Java technology. The advantages brought about by the use of Java in network management answer some critical problems existing in current systems. With this work we address several factors concerning interoperability and security in heterogeneous network environments. Specifically, we present a manager application and a multithreaded agent engine that make use of a lightweight communication mechanism for message exchange. A MIB parser is introduced to accelerate handling of incoming management requests, and the RSA public-key cryptosystem is implemented to provide both encryption and authentication features. Results, measured in terms of response time, compare favourably with other published work and standard management frameworks.

Abstract:A three tier network management model, the Browser Web/Manager Agent, proposed to Web applications aims to realize distributed network management by adopting Web and Java technologies, which are widely used across the Internet. The standard CGI specification and Java programming language were used to translate a user request in HTTP format to the SNMP protocol data format, and vice versa. The architecture of SuperDomain98, an implemented network management system, based on this model was described. Some key implementation features, such as the management and storage strategy, event driven work flow, the definition of extended TRAP types and web based realtime alarming were discussed.

Abstract:Under the WAN environment,large-scale VPN networks is effectively and safely managed by long-distance centralized mana-gement system based on SNMP.To solve the flaw of topology discovery,a method in which agent initiates registry to the server is pro-posed.After analysis of the SNMPv3 security features,the public key authentication mechanism is introduced and the procedure of key negotiation is discussed in detail.For poor reliability and real-time data transmission of UDP-based SNMP,a strategy of configuration based on XML is given,which is proved to be feasible and efficient by the result of experiment at last.

Abstract:With the rapid development of Internet, network management becomes more and more important. The SNMP network management model is the most widely used management model of TCP/IP-based network. The modularization of documentation and architecture and the enhancement of security, which are addressed in SNMPv3, mean the SNMP network management coming to maturity. In this article, the history of SNMP and typical feature of key versions are introduced, some merits and demerits are presented. Abstract:Management inefficiency and object mismatching are two major drawbacks of conventional SNMP/CORBA gateway-based distributed network management systems. The paper describes a new CORBA-based distributed network management architecture, DiNM/CORBA, which seamlessly integrates the SNMP-based network management with the CORBA distributed computing environment through Java and JMAPI technology. By doing so, the service objects in the CORBA environment are able to directly access the managed objects within the SNMP agent, so there is no need for dynamic protocol translation during management operation. The paper describes the DiNM/CORBA architecture, while focusing on the design and implementation of its basic services of data collection and event management. Compared with a conventional SNMP management environment, the DiNM/CORBA performance is about 20% higher than that of a typical SNMP/CORBA gateway approach.

Abstract:The traditional network management architecture is not suitable for hybrid networks because of high complexity,heterogeneity and integrity of several different kinds of networks(Internet,wireless mobile Ad Hoc network,satellite and other integrated network).This paper addressed a novel management protocol(NMP) for hybrid networks and verified it by using the Manager/Agent system.A special gateway was designed to connect two kinds of agents.The delivery time of message and the length of protocol digital unit were simulated under two kinds of protocols(NMP and SNMP).The results show the better performances of NMP.

Abstract:The system management technologies based on simple network management protocol (SNMP), web based enterprise management (WBEM) and web services distributed management (WSDM) are evaluated on the aspect of scalability, compatibility and manageability. The comparison are that the performance of SNMP is better than WBEM and WSDM, but the implement complexity, scalability, compatibility and interoperability of SNMP is poor than WBEM and WSDM.

Abstract:Currently, network management systems on Internet are lots of islands floating around. They seldom get connected with each other, especially among those of different networks. Under such situation, overlapping implementation of network management functions in the same network domain commonly exists, and end-to-end management can't be smoothly implemented across different network domain. To solve these problems, a novel model of network management architecture is proposed, by name, Internet Management Network (IMN). IMN is an overlay network of NMSes. The structure of IMN is almost the same like Internet itself. A prototype system based on SNMP is also introduced with an interesting application, multi-domain search engine of network management information.

Abstract:Research and analysis has been carried out on two system management technologies.One is based on Simple Network Management Protocol(SNMP),the other is based on web based enterprise management(WBEM).Through comparisons on scalability,response speed,web service supportiveness and other aspects,the strengths and weaknesses of SNMP and WBEM are individually summarized.Hence a new framework that utilizes WBEM to manage SNMP compatible devices is proposed.Then with the combined framework of SNMP and WBEM,the management over system underlying resources is realized.Experiment demonstrates that SNMP devices can be integrated into WBEM system by just a few simple steps.The combined framework on the one hand helps the distributed management over devices,on the other hand,by combining web services,provides even more useful interfaces to enable devices that previously only supports SNMP to be able to support accesses from more interfaces.
