Abstract:The curriculum carries ideological and political education, which is embodied in the curriculum.We aim to fully tap the ideological and political elements contained in the course of linear algebra, and form the first classroom with teaching as the main position and the online second classroom with "reading book club" as the main form in practice, which complement each other and complement each other.Taking a specific classroom teaching as an example, this paper discusses how to integrate knowledge teaching, ability training and value shaping, so as to achieve the good effect of moistening things and educating students.

Abstract:This paper aims at investigating the role of perceived integration in WeChat usages from a social capital perspective. Drawing on social capital theory, the author(s) proposed a research model of college students’ WeChat usages for seeking information and sharing comments in youth league campus (YLC) activities. The research model was empirically tested by using data collected from 518 college students who used the WeChat for YLC activities in China. The results of structural equation modeling analysis indicate that perceived integration positively affects 3 dimensions of social capital. Perceived similarity and social interaction ties positively affect seeking information and sharing comments.

Abstract:Pierre Bourdieu is known for his research in the areas of education and cultural stratification that led to a number of theoretical contributions informing the social sciences. Bourdieu’s interrelated concepts of field, capital, and habitus have become central in many approaches to inequality and stratification across the social sciences. In addition, we argue that Bourdieu’s ideas also feature in what is increasingly known as ‘digital sociology.’ To underscore this claim, we explore the ways in which Bourdieu’s ideas continue to have a major impact on social science research both on and with digital and Internet-based technologies. To do so, we offer a review of both Bourdieusian theorizing of the digital vis-à-vis both research on the social impacts of digital communication technologies and the application of digital technologies to social science research methods. We contend that three interconnected features of Bourdieu’s sociology have allowed his approach to flourish in the digital age: (1) his theories’ inseparability from the practice of empirical research; (2) his ontological stance combining realism and social constructionism; and (3) his familiarity with concepts developed in other disciplines and participation in interdisciplinary collaborative projects. We not only reason that these three factors go some way in accounting for Bourdieu’s influence in many sociological subfields, but we also suggest that they have been especially successful in positioning Bourdieusian sociology to take advantage of opportunities associated with digital communication technologies.

Abstract:Pierre Bourdieu discussed how an individual's taste relates o his or her social environment, and how the classification of \emph{distinct} and \emph{vulgar}, among others, arises from at the same time as shapes this taste in his work called \emph{La Distinction}. Robert Axelrod created a computational model with local convergence and global polarization properties to describe the dissemination of culture by simple selective interactions. In this letter, Axelrod model is modified, while holding to the same original principles, to describe Bourdieu theory. This allows to analyze how the dynamics of society's tastes and trends may vary with a simple approach, considering social structures and to understand which social forces are crucial to change dynamics. Despite the relative simplicity, the present approach clarifies symbolic power relations, a relevant issue for understanding power relation both on large as well as on small and localized scale, with impact on activities ranging from daily life matters to business, politics, and research. This model sheds light on social issues, showing that a small amount of conflict within a class plays a central role in the culture dynamics, being the major responsible for continuous changes in distinction paradigms.

Abstract:Investigators interested in the study of social integration/cohesion are confronted with various confused definitions and the problem of theoretical inconsistency. Contemporary study of social integration/ cohesion treats it either as a multidimensional phenomenon or as a latent construct with multiple indicators. In this article,we argue that the study of social integration/cohesion can be divided into two research domains (empirical research and policy application) and three levels (individual,group and holistic). Based on this frame,we examine the definitions,the relevant theories,the measurements, and the applications of social integration/cohesion in different fields. Finally we point out, either for academia or for public policy circle,this concept has much application potential in the transition era of China.

Abstract:Drawing on the concepts of embeddedness and legitimacy,this study fuses the two theories of primary ideology and self-evaluation on social justice to suggest a new institutionalist explanation of distributive fairness.We argue that people’s belief of income fairness is decided by whether one’s subjective socioeconomic status agrees with the social consensus.If the self-perceived status is lower than what is by the social consensus,one is likely to feel income unfairness.If the perception is consistent with,or even amounts to a higher status than what is by the social consensus,then one tends to believe income fairness.In other words,people whose subjective socioeconomic status is lower than their occupational prestige are more likely to see their income as unfair than people who have the two harmonized.The results of statistical analysis of the CGSS2006 strongly support our argument.It shows that the proposed theoretical explanation does a better job than the self-interest rational choice theory to explain why people,especially low socioeconomic status members,still view their income to be fair.

Abstract:Based on the theoretical review of interculturality, this article argues that intercultural phenomenon is the cognitive object of intercultuali-ty. And it reveals the essence of intercultural relations and advocates inter-cultrualism in cultural and political practice. Intercultural, interculturali-ty and interculturalism are three key terms to recognize the intercultural re-lations and are the core essences of intercultural theory which adopts a di-alectical view on cultural diversity. On the one hand, intercultural theory acknowledges and accepts the fact that cultural diversity prevalently since it is a common heritage and precious wealth of humankind; one the other hand, in-tercultural theory takes cultural diversity as cultural barrier that need to overcome and deal with the intercultural paradox of how to live with differ-ences in the context of coexistence in a multi-cultural world. Intercultural theory reveals the intrinsic inter-characteristics of diversity including oth-erness and sameness, relationality and interactivity, and helps to establish the formula for how to live with differences in hyper-diverse areas. Intercul-turality serves as a prerequisite for recognizing the diversity, respecting otherness, seeking sameness that whether culture can coexist with the same meaning of the intercultural characteristics, and revealing the inter-related-ness in the context in which intercultural encounter commits to strengthen the interaction between the heterogeneous cultures in the premise of mutual sub-jectivity. The enlightenment of intercultural theory on social & cultural ge-ography can be applied in the research on intercultural situation, space (place) thinking, race and ethnic geography, indigenous geographies, geogra-phies of identity and intercultural city.

Abstract:When using Pierre Bourdieu's concepts,we shouldn't forget the methodological connotations in and behind them.Bourdieu's way of relative thinking is a dual-directional break from social physics and social phenomenology,and it's also an upset of researchers' being participant observers in social anthropology.To educational investigators,Bourdieu's methodology means not a set of procedures that can be used directly,but a profound visual angle and insight,which can bring new explanations and thus a new look in education,education research and the relationship between educational theory and practice.

Abstract:From sociological point of view, the issues of fairness and justice in the areas of social stratification and social space should be emphasized in contemporary Chinese society. The social justice which we seek for should be the integrated combination among iustice of opportunity, justice of outcome and formal or legal justice, when we resolve the problems about social stratification and income gap. We should create more and more competitive opportunities of justice, conditions of formal justice and outcomes of justice for our people. In the recent years, the fighting for benefits among social interest groups focuses on urban social space areas, which shows the serious social differentiation in China and which also shows the social contradictions, social conflicts and interested disputes closely link with the issues of social fairness and social justice. Seeking for social justice in urban social space areas, we should resolve such problems as how to make the huge outcomes and benefits from the urban development to share by our whole nation.

Abstract:This article examines the theories of institutional transformation from redistribution to markets in China from a new perspective of social integration. It argues that the transition is a process simultaneously involves the privatization of property rights, the shift of elite power, and the reorganization of interest groups. The study of China' s market transition thereby should focus on three questions: who dominants the property right? who controls the management? And who gets relatively more interests? The answers to these questions point to the shift of the underlying mechanism of integration, namely the integration of property right relationship, the integration of power and the integration of interests, among which the social relationship integration is pervasive, and crucial to understand the maintaining of social order in the course of China's transition to a market economy.

Abstract:Aim: The aim of this study is to analyse previous explanations of social inequality in health and argue for a closer integration of sociological theory into future empirical research. Methods: We examine cultural-behavioural, materialist, psychosocial and life-course approaches, in addition to fundamental cause theory. Giddens’ structuration theory and a neo-materialist approach, inspired by Bruno Latour, Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari, are proposed as ways of rethinking the causal relationship between socio-economic status and health. Conclusions:Much of the empirical research on health inequalities has tended to rely on explanations with a static and unidirectional view of the association between socio-economic status and health, assuming a unidirectional causal relationship between largely static categories. We argue for the use of sociological theory to develop more dynamic models that enhance the understanding of the complex pathways and mechanisms linking social structures to health.

Abstract:Bourdieu is an important thinker within the sociological tradition and has a philosophically sophisticated approach to theoretical knowledge and research practice. In this paper, we examine the implication of his work for nursing and the health sciences more broadly. We argue that his work is best described as a reflexive realist who provides a space for a nonpositivist approach to knowledge that does not fall into the trap of idealism or relativism. We emphasize that Bourdieu was not an abstract theorist, but only utilized theories to understand and explain the social world in all its empirical complexity. Theory is emphasized over method without denying the importance of method. We then provide a brief overview of some of his key concepts: habitus, field and capital. His work is a scientifically astute practice that has an emancipatory purpose, with particular resonance to the problems of nursing as a social practice. Some have criticized Bourdieu for undermining agency and we briefly address this issue, but argue that his conceptual framework helps us to understand what endures in social practice and why change is often problematic. In short, this paper argues that Bourdieu's work is a fruitful resource for critiquing existing nursing approaches that are preoccupied with agency over structure.
The dialectics of universality: The heterodox critical social theory of Robert Fine

Abstract:Robert Fine was among the most original social theorists in Britain of the past 30 years, and the aim of this paper is to offer a first systematic assessment of his intellectual contribution. There are sound intellectual reasons to explore Fine's scholarship. He maintained a problematic relation with mainstream sociology and, against the reduction of sociology to questions of method, culture, or class, he argued that sociologists must continue to ask difficult normative questions as part of the social world they ought to explain. And there are also pressing political concerns that justify a reconsideration of his writings. Global politics is currently marked by a populist wave that decries the very ideas and values that were central to Fine's social theory: the need to uphold the rule of law at home and abroad, the politics of cosmopolitan solidarity, and the significance of antisemitism and its relationships with different forms of authoritarian politics. My main argument is that there is a dialectics of universality that drives forward Fine's intellectual project. By this, I mean that a universalistic idea of humanity-an all-inclusive conception of all human beings-is the most important normative intuition of modern times. This idea of humanity moves forward in history through a dual process of emancipation and domination: successful forms of social, legal, and political inclusion help make visible previous dynamics of exclusion but may also create or recreate discriminatory practices. Building on the work of French historian Michael Löwy on heterodox Jewish thinkers, I explain the three main tenets of Fine's work: (a) his reconstruction of critical social theory; (b) the notion of cosmopolitan solidarity; and (c) the significance and main features of modern antisemitism.

Abstract:Drawing on past research, including my own, I set forth the following propositions: (1) inequality in China has been generated and maintained by structural collective mechanisms, such as regions and work units; (2) traditional Chinese political ideology has promoted merit-based inequality, with merit being perceived as functional in improving the collective welfare for ordinary people; and (3) many Chinese people today regard inequality as an inevitable consequence of economic development. Thus, it seems unlikely that social inequality alone would lead to political and social unrest in today’s China.
