Abstract:We consider the following singular quasilinear Schrödinger equations involving critical exponent where . By using the variational methods, we first prove that for small values of and , the above problem has infinitely many distinct solutions with negative energy. Besides, we point out that odd assumption on f is required; the problem has at least one nontrivial solution. Finally, a new modified technique is used to consider the existence of infinitely many solutions for far more general equations.

Abstract:We study the existence of infinitely many solutions for the following quasilinear elliptic equations with critical growth: where b_ij∈ C^1(ℝ,ℝ) satisfies the growth condition |b_ij(t)|∼ |t|^2s-2 at infinity, s≥ 1 , Ω⊂ℝ^N is an open bounded domain with smooth boundary, a is a constant. Here we use the notations: D_i=∂/∂ x_i, b'_ij(t)=db_ij(t)/dt. We will study the effect of the terms a|v|^2s-2v and b_ij(v) on the existence of an unbounded sequence of solutions for (P). Here, we do not assume the crucial global monotone condition. We overcome the difficulties caused by the lack of such monotone condition by performing various kinds of changes of variables.

Abstract:In this paper we study the existence, multiplicity and concentration behaviour of ground states for a class of quasilinear Schrodinger equations with critical growth. By using a change of variables, the quasilinear equations are reduced to a semilinear one, whose associated functionals are well defined in the usual Sobolev space and satisfy the geometric conditions of the mountain pass theorem. We relate the number of positive solutions with the topology of the set where the potential attains its minimum value. The proofs are based on the Ljusternik-Schnirelmann theory and variational methods.

Abstract:We systematically inquire positive radial solutions of the quasilinear elliptic equation -Δ _pϕ =|x|^σϕ ^q with Δ _pϕ :=div(|∇ϕ |^p-2∇ϕ ) is the p -Laplace operator, q>p-1,σ >-p and 1<p<N . It is known that the radial solutions of this equation can be classified into three different types: the M-solutions (singular at r=0 ), the E-solutions (regular at r=0 ) and the F-solutions (whose existence begins away from r=0 ). For these radial solutions, we find a substitution which can transfer this equation into an autonomous Lotka–Volterra system, such that the F-, E- and M-solutions can be comprehensively characterized. In particular, the M-solution has extremely plentiful properties, and its asymptotic expansions are more complicated. For the subcritical case of q , by virtue of a priori estimates, we employ an iterative method which can improve the accuracy step by step, to derive their precise asymptotic expansions. For the supercritical case of q , with the help of the autonomous Lotka–Volterra system and an inverse transformation, we obtain the asymptotic expansions of the M-solutions near the origin. In the same manner, we could acquire more accurate asymptotic expansions of the E-solutions via the iterative method whereas the F-solutions can be described by the autonomous Lotka–Volterra system.

We establish a compactness lemma for functional and develop some delicate analyses to deal with non-standard difficulties caused by singular term and the compactness issue. We introduce some natural assumptions on the nonlinearity f and obtain the existence of Mountain-pass type solution and ground state solution for above equation. Moreover, two distinct solutions, one has positive energy while the other one has negative energy, are established for the above equation with a perturbation.</n\)<>

Abstract:Existence and uniqueness results for large positive solutions are obtained for a class of quasilinear elliptic eigenvalue problems in general bounded smooth domains via a generalization of a sweeping principle of Serrin. The nonlinear terms of the problems can be negative in some intervals. The existence and structure of a mountain pass solution are also discussed. We show that this solution develops to a spike layer solution.

Abstract:Results of investigation of the asymptotic behavior of solutions to the Cauchy problems for a quasi-linear parabolic equation with a small parameter at a higher derivative near singular points of limit solutions are presented. Interest to the problem under consideration is explained by its applications to a wide class of physical systems and probabilistic processes such as acoustic waves in fluid and gas, hydrodynamical turbulence and nonlinear diffusion. The following cases are considered: a singularity generated by a jump discontinuity of the initial function, collision of two shock waves, gradient catastrophe, transition of a weak discontinuity into a shock wave, a singularity generated by a large initial gradient.

Abstract:We present the sharp characterization of the behavior at the isolated singularities of positive solutions of some equations on singular manifolds with conical metrics. It is seen that the equations on singular manifolds with conical metrics are equivalent to weighted elliptic equations in B\{0}, where B subset of R-N is the unit ball. The weights can be singular at x = 0. We present the sharp asymptotic behavior of positive solutions of the weighted elliptic equations at x = 0 and establish expansions of these solutions up to arbitrary orders. Asymptotic behavior at the isolated singularitie of positive solutions of elliptic equations without weights has been studied by many authors. We will obtain new results on the asymptotic behavior at the isolated singularities even for positive solutions of equations without weights in the subcritical case.

And [Formula: see text] is an open bounded domain which contains the origin. We will study the existence of infinitely many solutions for (P). To achieve this goal, we first perform various kinds of change of variables to overcome the difficulties caused by the unboundedness of [Formula: see text] ([Formula: see text] for large [Formula: see text]) and the lack of a global monotone condition [Formula: see text] (see below) on [Formula: see text], then combining the idea of regularization approach and subcritical approximation we prove the existence of infinitely many solutions for (P). Our results show that under some suitable assumptions on [Formula: see text], without the perturbation of the lower term [Formula: see text] we can still obtain the existence of infinitely many solutions for (P).

Abstract:The Cauchy problem (P)ut−Δum=upinRN×(0,T),u(x,0)=τu0(x)inRN,is considered, where τ>0, p>m⩾1 and u0(x) (>0) is a bounded continuous radially symmetric function in RN. We choose p in some open interval (ps,pp) with ps=m(N+2)/[N−2]+ such that a peaking solution (incomplete blow-up solution) of (P) exists. Denote the solution of (P) by uτ. We show that if u0(x) is nonincreasing in large r=|x| and decays slowly: u0(x)=O(|x|−α) as |x|→∞(2/(p−m)<α), then uτ is classified into one of the next three types according to the value τ as follows: There exists τ1∈(0,∞) such that (I) uτ blows up completely in finite time if τ>τ1, (II) uτ blows up incompletely in finite time and ||uτ(t)||L∞(RN)=O(t−1p−1) as t→∞ if τ=τ1, (III) uτ does not blow up in finite time and ||uτ(t)||L∞(RN)=O(t−1p−1) as t→∞ if 0<τ<τ1.

Abstract:Existence and uniqueness of large positive solutions are obtained for a class of quasilinear elliptic Dirichlet problems in bounded smooth domains Ω with a large parameter λ. It is shown that a flat core of the large positive solution exists and its existence depends upon the smoothness of the nonlinearity. The distance between the flat core and ∂Ω is precisely measured as λ→∞.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the asymptotic behaviour of global classical solutions of diagonalizable quasilinear hyperbolic systems with linearly degenerate characteristic fields. Based on the existence results of global classical solutions, we prove that when t tends to infinity, the solution approaches a combination of C-1 travelling wave solutions, provided that L-1 boolean AND L-infinity norm of the initial data as well as its derivative are bounded. Abstract:This paper is concerned with two properties of positive weak solutions of quasilinear elliptic equations with nonlinear gradient terms. First, we show a Liouville-type theorem for positive weak solutions of the equation involving the m -Laplacian operator- increment (m)u = u(q)| backward difference u|(p) in RN,where N 1, m > 1 and p, q ? 0. The technique of Bernstein gradient estimates is utilized to study the case p < m. Moreover, a Liouville-type theorem for supersolutions under subcritical range of exponentsq(N - m) + p(N -1) < N(m -1)is also established. Then, we use a degree argument to obtain the existence of positive weak solutions for a nonlinear Dirichlet problem of the type - increment (m)u = f (x, u, backward difference u), with f satisfying certain structure conditions. Our proof is based on a priori estimates, which will be accomplished by using a blow-up argument together with the Liouville-type theorem in the half-space. As another application, some new Harnack inequalities are proved.
