Investigation of impact pressure and velocity distributions on the stilling basin

Abstract:The energy dissipation problems are severe to build hydropower stations on the Yalong River,as it has high water head and large discharge rate,and mountain valley is narrow.Based on the impact pressure and the velocity distributions on the stilling basin,the shape optimizations of the outlets in the dam are made by changing the sizes of the outlets and the elevation of the second dam.This results in that the impact pressure values on the stilling basin can be reduced,and the tr ojactoryes of the water jets from the outlets can be controlled both in longitudinal and horizontal directions,the river bed erosion can also avoided.
