Abstract:A fixed point theorem is used to study a singular second order three-point boundary value problem. The problem is more general. Combining the method of constructing Green functions with operators defined piecewise, the existence result of positive solutions to a singular second order three-point boundary value problem is established. The nonlinearity can be allowed to change sign.

Abstract:This paper is concerned with the coexistence of steady states for a kind of reaction-diffusion model with Holling-Tanner term under the third boundary conditions. By means of maximum principles and Hopf boundary lemma, the prior estimates of the strict positive solutions are given at first. Then by using the topological fixed point theorems and extending Leray-Schauder degree on Banch spaces to positive cones, the existence of positive solutions of the system are considered. At last, by calculating the indices of fixed points of compact operators in cones and combining with spectrum analysis of operators, maximum principles and lower-upper solutions methods, the necessary and sufficient conditions for the positive solutions of the steady system are obtained.

Abstract:Utilizing the five fanctionals fixed point theorem, we prove the existence of at least three positive solutions for 2nth order m-point boundary value problems. In order to do so, firstly, we give the associated Green's function and its properties. Then we impose growth conditions on the nonlinear term f which ensure the existence of at least three positive solutions. Finally, we give an example to demonstrate our result. Our result extends and improves some of the existing literature.

Abstract:We study the existence of multiple positive solutions for a nonlinear third-order differential equation subject to various nonlocal boundary conditions. The boundary conditions that we study contain Stieltjes integral and include the special cases of m-point conditions and integral conditions. The main tool in the proof of our result is Krasnosel’skii’s fixed point theorem. To illustrate the applicability of the obtained results, we consider examples.
